Freeman's walk-off homer lifts Dodgers over Blue Jays in 18-inning World Series epic

In an astonishing 6 hours and 39 minutes, Los Angeles Dodgers took down Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the World Series, thanks to a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman. The epic game that tied the longest Fall Classic contest ever played, ended with both teams exhausted but victorious for the Dodgers.

Shohei Ohtani delivered one of the most remarkable postseason performances in baseball history, reaching base nine times – a first in MLB since 1942 – with two home runs and five walks. He became the first hitter to receive that many intentional passes and achieved four extra-base hits in a World Series game.

The seesaw game started strong for Los Angeles, but Toronto ripped away their lead in the fourth inning with three runs on a defensive mistake. The Blue Jays snapped out of their cold streak after Game 2 and stayed hot until Ohtani tied the score for the third time with a 401-foot home run in the seventh.

Toronto declined to let Ohtani beat them again, intentionally walking him multiple times in the ninth, eleventh, thirteenth, and fifteenth innings. The Blue Jays' strategy worked, as their bullpen kept finding exits despite being forced into emergency options due to an injured George Springer.

The Dodgers countered with a display of bullpen endurance, using 10 pitchers – a World Series record for a single game – and holding off multiple threats throughout the night. Clayton Kershaw entered in the 12th inning with the bases loaded and got a groundout, while rookie right-hander Will Klein delivered four scoreless innings.

The crowd nearly erupted when Freeman took the plate again in the thirteenth, but his deep fly ball fell short of the wall. However, he redeemed himself in the 18th inning, hitting a walk-off home run that traveled 406 feet to straightaway center and sealed the game for the Dodgers.

With the win, Los Angeles is now two wins away from a championship and could clinch their title at home for the first time since 1963. Ohtani will take the mound in Game 4, looking to build on his remarkable performance and push the Dodgers closer to history.

I don't know about this walk-off heroics thing... like, what's next? Are we gonna need a new superpower for every game? 😅 Freddie Freeman's home run was sick tho, but I'm still low-key hoping Ohtani just gets a lot of free passes and walks to change the game. It felt like the refs were giving him some serious love 🤣. And what's up with all those pitchers in one game?! The Dodgers' bullpen endurance is crazy... did they just use every single player on their roster? That's like trying to win a marathon with 500 runners 🏃‍♂️. Anyway, I guess the Dodgers are in good shape for the championship now... but let's not count our chickens before they hatch, right? 🤔

man this game was crazy lol freddie freeman is like a superhero or something 🤸‍♂️ how did he even hit that walk-off home run at 18? and ohtani's stats are insane! i remember watching him play in japan and being blown away by his power 🌮 he's definitely one of the most dominant players in the game right now. i'm so hyped for game 4, can't wait to see what happens next 😃

man what a game!!! 🤯🎉 i'm literally screaming from my seat, freddie freeman is a total hero 🔥🏆 that walk-off home run was insane! shohei ohtani put on a show too, nine times reaching base in one game? that's unheard of 💥 and the blue jays tried everything to stop him but toronto's bullpen held strong 🙌. it's getting intense now, 10 pitchers for the dodgers? that's insane 😲 can't wait to see what game 4 brings! 👏

🤦‍♂️ can't believe how long it took for the Blue Jays to snap out of their slump... like they were all sleeping or something 😴. but seriously, Shohei Ohtani is a total legend 🤩, what a performance! And I guess the intentional walks were just the icing on the cake 🍰. Clayton Kershaw coming in with the bases loaded was like the ultimate understatement 😂. anyway, it's Dodgers vs the world now... can they actually pull this off? 💥

OMG this game was CRAZY!! 🤯 I'm still shaking after that walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman 🏆🎉 I don't even know how he did it! And Shohei Ohtani is absolutely insane 😲 reaching base nine times?! That's a first in MLB history! I'm loving the Blue Jays' strategy to intentionally walk him, but it didn't work out... meanwhile, the Dodgers' bullpen was like superheroes 💪 holding it together for the win. Clayton Kershaw coming in with the bases loaded and getting that one crucial groundout? Iconic! 😎 The Dodgers are on a roll now and I'm super stoked they might take home the championship 🏆👏

omg what an epic game!! freddie freeman's walk-off homer was insane 🤯 he deserved that after ohtani went off like a superstar 😲 i gotta give it up for shohei tho, nine bases in one game is straight fire 🔥 but los angeles dodgers' bullpen was on point too 🙌 they pulled off an incredible performance with 10 pitchers and holding off multiple threats it's clear they're feeling the pressure of being close to a championship 💪

What's going on here? It's all about strategy, folks! 🤔 The Blue Jays' plan to intentionally walk Shohei Ohtani was like a classic divide-and-conquer tactic – focus on one weak link (Ohtani) and neutralize their advantage. But did it work too well? By walking him so many times, they basically handed the Dodgers another opportunity to come back strong.

And what about Clayton Kershaw's entrance in the 12th inning with the bases loaded? That was like a bold move by the Dodgers' coaches – going all-in on one player and trusting that he'll make the difference. It paid off! 💪

But let's not forget, folks, this is what we call 'barnburner' baseball – it's all about who can adapt to changing circumstances and seize opportunities as they come along. And right now, the Dodgers are seizing their momentum like a hot knife through butter 🍞️. Can't wait to see how Game 4 unfolds!

OMG 🤯, what a game!!! 😲 The Dodgers' bullpen was insane! 💥 I mean, using 10 pitchers in one game is crazy talk! 🤪 But, they kept their cool under pressure, which was huge for their chances of winning. And, Freddie Freeman's walk-off home run? 🔥 That was the icing on the cake! 🎂 Shohei Ohtani's stats are insane though! 😲 Nine times reaching base and four extra-base hits in one game is a first for MLB since 1942! 🤯 The Blue Jays' strategy of intentionally walking him multiple times was clutch, but the Dodgers' endurance was just too much to handle. 💪 Now, if they can win just two more games, they'll be celebrating their championship at home for the first time in ages! 🏆 Fingers crossed for LA! 🤞 #DodgersNation #WorldSeries2025 #FreddieFreemanForMVP

man that freddie freeman walk-off homer was insane lol 🤯 what a game though! i was literally glued to my screen when he took the plate for the third time, i thought for sure it was gonna be another close one but freeman's power is just too much 😅 and ohtani's postseason stats are wild even if toronto's bullpen did an amazing job of shutting him down that walk-off intentional pass though was so clever 🙌 can't wait to see game 4, hopefully the dodgers win it all 👏

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." 🏆💪 The Dodgers' win tonight was a perfect example of this - they didn't plan for a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman, but that's exactly what happened! 😂 The Blue Jays put up an amazing fight, and Shohei Ohtani's performance was truly incredible. It's gonna be so interesting to see how the series unfolds in Game 4 💥

🤯 I'm still trying to process that walk-off homer by Freddie Freeman 😲! 18 innings is crazy, especially when you think about all those extra passes Shohei Ohtani got just to try and shut him down 🙄. And what's up with the bullpen endurance? 10 pitchers in one game?! That's insane 💪. I'm loving this World Series so far, though - it's anyone's game at this point 🤔. One thing that gets me is how much Ohtani dominated on the mound, but his team still came up just short 😐. Can't wait to see what Game 4 brings! 🎉

OMG, I'm still shook about that epic game 😲! The way Shohei Ohtani dominated was insane 🔥 - 9 times reaching base? Two home runs and 5 walks? 🤯 He's basically a superhero on the mound right now! 💪 And can we talk about Freddie Freeman's walk-off homer? That guy's got skills 💥, 406 feet straightaway center? Unbelievable! The Dodgers' bullpen is also doing some crazy stuff with 10 pitchers in one game 🤯. I'm loving this World Series so far, it's been non-stop action ⚾️. Bring on Game 4 and see if Ohtani can keep the magic going 🔮!
