Plane Crash near Downers Grove Leaves Pilot and Passenger Injured

A small plane veered off the runway during its landing attempt at a private residential airpark in Downers Grove, leaving two people injured, authorities said. The single-engine Cessna 195 went out of control shortly after noon on Friday, rolling over before coming to rest in a backyard.

Miraculously, both occupants emerged from the aircraft under their own power and were taken to an area hospital for evaluation. While the extent of their injuries was not disclosed, it is reported that the plane sustained significant damage.

Located near the Carriage Greens Country Club, the airpark's runways are surrounded by homes, each with attached hangars. The pilot lost control of the aircraft at one point, causing it to veer off course and crash into a hangar.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident, which marks the latest in a string of aviation incidents in the region.
 
omg I was so worried when I saw this news on my feed 🤕😬 i mean I've always been super nervous about flying anyway but to think that someone could lose control of a plane and crash into a house is just insane 😲 what if it had happened at night or something? the pilot and passenger were lucky to be okay, though! they must've been super shaken up 😅 and poor hangar owners, I can only imagine how scary that must've been for them 🤯 I'm glad the FAA is looking into this, hopefully they'll find out what caused it and make sure something like this doesn't happen again 👍

Man... this is wild 🤯 I remember watching air shows when I was a kid at the O'Hare Airport back in the day. They always looked so safe and controlled. Now it's like anyone can fly a plane? 😂 Not to be negative, but what's with all these aviation incidents lately? You'd think people would learn from each other's mistakes. 🚨 Omg can you even believe that?? A plane just crashed in some backyard in Downers Grove and luckily only 2 people were hurt 🤞! I mean, what was going through that pilot's mind, right? One minute they're flying smoothly and the next they're careening out of control 🤯. And to think it happened at a residential airpark, with houses all around... it's just crazy 🌳.

Anyway, super glad no one died 😅 (I mean, seriously, can you imagine if that had been a terrible outcome?!?😱). Now they're off to the hospital for some evaluation and I hope everything turns out okay 🤗. And of course the FAA is on it to figure out what went down 👮‍♂️. Just another day in aviation... where you've gotta be ready for anything 😅
 
I'm so relieved that no one was more seriously hurt 🙏. You've got to wonder what went wrong there - maybe just a technical issue or pilot error? The fact that both people were okay, though, is still pretty amazing. I mean, planes are incredibly complex machines and something like that can happen even with proper training and maintenance.

It's good that the FAA is looking into it, because safety is always the top priority when it comes to air travel. You never know what might cause a situation like this in the future. Hopefully they'll be able to identify any issues and prevent similar incidents from happening again.
 
🚨 this is so crazy! I mean, can you imagine being on that plane and feeling like it's just gonna take off again after it's crashed into a hangar? I guess the pilots are trained to handle situations like this, but still... 2 people could've been seriously hurt or worse.

I'm thinking about the pilots training, they must've had some sort of emergency procedure in place for situations like this. And also, have you seen those airparks lately? They're getting more and more popular, so it's not surprising that there are more incidents happening.

The FAA investigating this is good, I guess... they need to figure out what went wrong so they can make sure something like this doesn't happen again. The carriages greens country club is so lucky their airpark isn't the only one in the area - that would be a total disaster 🤯
