2 slashed at Queens subway station, NYPD looking for assailant

Violence Strikes Queens Subway Platform, NYPD Seeks Suspect

Two men suffered severe injuries after being attacked with knives in separate incidents at the Union Turnpike–Kew Gardens subway station in Queens. The unprovoked attacks occurred around 3:15 p.m. on the southbound E train platform, leaving both victims hospitalized in stable condition.

According to authorities, a man approached two strangers from behind and slashed one of them in the forehead, before targeting another man, who was attacked in the face. Witnesses reported that the assailant fled without speaking to either victim beforehand, leaving police with little to go on.

The suspect is described as wearing black clothing, including a jacket, pants, and shoes. The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

Notably, overall transit crime has seen a slight increase in violent assaults across New York City's subways and buses this year, with over 500 felony incidents reported as of November 16. In comparison, the number of felonies per transit crime has decreased by nearly 5% citywide since last year.

In the precinct where the attack took place, five felony assaults were reported through mid-November, up from four during the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, overall crime rates in the area have declined by over a quarter.

As this story continues to unfold, police are working to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the violent attacks on the Queens subway platform.

just great 🙄... another day, another stabbing incident in the city that never sleeps (but apparently, never stops bleeding). i mean, what's up with people these days? can't we all just get along... or at least not stab each other to death on public transportation 😒. and honestly, who does this guy have to be worried about? is he really thinking 'oh no, the cops are gonna catch me'? 🤣 like, hello, you're already out of breath from running around the platform, dude. the NYPD is trying their best here, so let's all just chill 😎 and help them out by reporting any info we have... anyone got eyes on this suspect? 🕵️‍♂️

Man, this is getting crazy on our subways again 🤯. I'm not surprised it's happening though, we've been talking about this for years, right? More people with knives, more crazy stuff happening. It's like they just think nobody's watching or something.

I don't get why these guys gotta go around attacking random people, you know? Can't a dude just ride the train without being hurt? 🚂😡. And now the NYPD is dealing with this, trying to find out who did it... good luck with that, I guess.

It's weird that crime rates are up a bit in transit but overall crime is down in the area. Not really sure what's going on there. Maybe just more people out and about? Don't know. All I know is, if you're walking around Queens at 3 pm, be careful, okay? 😬

This senseless act of violence has left us all wondering what drives someone to commit such atrocities... is it desperation, frustration, or just a momentary lapse of humanity? The fact that our attacker was able to blend in with the crowd, wearing black and fleeing without a word, only adds to the mystery. 🤔 It's like he became invisible, leaving behind two wounded souls and a community left shaken.

It's also worth considering how this incident reflects on our society as a whole... are we becoming increasingly isolated from one another? Do we feel so disconnected that we're more likely to lash out at strangers, rather than seeking help or support from those around us? The statistics show a slight increase in violent assaults, and while it's not a dramatic rise, it's still unsettling. 🚨 Can we ask ourselves if we're doing enough to address the underlying issues that lead to such behavior?

Ultimately, this tragedy serves as a reminder of our own vulnerability... we all have the capacity for violence, whether we like to admit it or not. It's up to us to reflect on our actions and consider how they might impact others. 🌟

can't believe what's happening on our subways rn 🚫😱 these 2 guys were just minding their own biz & some psycho comes outta nowhere & starts slashing them with knives 💉😨 and now there's like a whole string of violent attacks going down in qns 🤯 and ppl arent even reporting it bc they're scared 😬 NYPD is doin the best they can but i think its time we got more cameras on our subways and maybe some community watch programs in place 👮‍♂️🌆 gotta keep our city safe for everyone 💕

Ugh, what's going on with these subways nowadays 🙄... I remember when you could actually walk down the stairs without being scared, or even have a conversation with someone without worrying about them flipping out 😂. Now it seems like every other day there's some crazy story about some idiot attacking people for no reason. Like, what's the deal? Back in my day, we didn't have all these fancy security cameras and whatnot, but somehow we still managed to be civil to each other 🤷‍♂️. It's just not right, you know? And now I hear that violent crimes are on the rise... 500 felony incidents already this year? That's crazy! I mean, I get it, crime rates have gone down in some areas, but subways are a whole different story 🚫. Can't we just have a safe and peaceful commute again? 😔

man what's going on with our subways lately? it seems like we're always hearing about some crazy stuff happening down there 🤯. i feel bad for those two guys who got attacked, that's super scary and violent behavior is never okay. at the same time, 500 felony incidents reported so far this year is still a big number and we should be worried about safety.

i don't know what's causing it but maybe we need to find some ways to bring people together instead of driving them apart? or get more mental health resources for those who might be struggling. we can't just sit back and do nothing, but at the same time, we shouldn't jump to conclusions without all the facts 🤔.

😬 ugh this is getting worse nyc subways r getting crazier by the day like what's goin on w/ these ppl no care bout nobody else just wanna stab ppl n walk away 🤯 and it's not like they're fightin back or smthn thats how u know its a cowardly attack 500 felonies in transit crime already this yr? that's straight up terrifying 🚨

Ugh, another random dude goes crazy with knives on a crowded subway 🚨💔 like what's going on with people these days?! It's getting harder to even feel safe riding the train anymore. I mean, I know the NYPD is doing their thing and all that, but it just seems like they're always dealing with some other nutcase. And can we talk about how ridiculous it is that this guy fled without even saying a word to anyone? No explanation, no motive... just a bunch of blood and destruction 💀👊.

Ugh, can't believe these knife attacks are happening everywhere 🤕. I mean, what's wrong with people? Just because we've got all these fancy innovations like surveillance cameras and social media, does that mean we'll be safer? Newsflash: it doesn't work that way 🙄.

And another thing, have you seen those subway platforms lately? They're always packed and noisy. It's like nobody can even make eye contact anymore 😒. Just what we need, more anxiety with every commute...

🤕 ugh this is getting way too real rn... like literally attacked with knives in broad daylight? what's going on with ppl these days?! i mean idk if its economy, social media, or just plain ol fashioned anxiety, but we gotta do something about it. and btw, why arent more ppl talking about the fact that transit crime has gone up by 5% this year?! seems like the real issue here not just some isolated incidents

man, another crazy thing happens on our subways 🤯! I'm so tired of people doing this kinda stuff, no one deserves to get hurt like that 😔. I remember walking home from work last year and seeing this guy with a bike lock just chillin' on the platform, I was like "what's the deal?" 🤷‍♂️ but I guess some people gotta be worried about their own safety all the time 🙅‍♂️.

and yeah, transit crime has been creeping up lately 🚨. I've noticed it too, like my friends and I were talkin' about how many times we've seen people get mugged or whatever on the train 🚂. it's just not safe anymore, you feel? 💔.

anyway, the NYPD is doin' their thing, tryin' to catch this dude who did that 💪. hopefully they find him soon and he faces justice 👮‍♂️. we need more of those heroes on our streets 🚫💕

🤕 this is so crazy what's goin on with the subways lately? like two people just gettin attacked with no warning at all? it's wild. and now they're lookin at the security footage, hopin to catch a glimpse of that guy in black... fingers crossed they find him ASAP. it's times like this that make u appreciate how lucky we are to be safe on our daily commutes 🙏
