A Switch 2 edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons will land on January 15

Nintendo is Set to Revive Your Island Paradise with Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition on January 15th.

A new era for the beloved life simulation game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, is about to begin. A free update, alongside a separate upgrade pack, will be released on January 15th for both the original Switch and its newer iteration, the Switch 2. This marks a significant milestone in the series' history, with many exciting upgrades and additions that promise to breathe new life into your virtual island getaway.

One of the most noticeable changes comes in the form of improved graphics, now capable of 4K visuals on TV mode for those with the latest hardware. Players will also have the option to utilize mouse controls via Joy-Con 2, potentially streamlining their home decoration and design processes. The inclusion of a megaphone item promises a fresh way to interact with residents on your island.

In terms of online features, Nintendo has upped the player limit from eight to twelve for the Switch 2 version, allowing for more social interactions and gatherings within the game's community-driven environment. Furthermore, support for the Switch 2 camera feature means players will now be able to see their friends' faces above their avatars while playing together.

However, the real excitement lies in the physical and digital release of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition at $65. To cater to those still holding onto their original Switch consoles, Nintendo has also announced a free update that promises a plethora of new features, including a hotel on your island's pier with customizable rooms, fresh souvenirs from the gift shop, and exclusive outfits. Moreover, this free update includes a dream world where you can build up to three additional islands alongside your friends, along with new craftable items and the option to expand home storage to 9,000 items.

Perhaps the most anticipated collaborations are those with Nintendo's other franchises, including The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon, which will now be available as in-game content for players possessing select Amiibo. Additionally, Lego-themed items will make their way into the game, further enriching the gameplay experience.

With all these upgrades and additions coming together in a single release, it seems inevitable that Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will continue to spend countless hours exploring and customizing their virtual island paradise in 2026. Whether you're on your original Switch or upgrading to the new Switch 2, Nintendo has got everything covered for this beloved game's loyal fanbase.

omg I cant w8 for the switch 2 edition 🤩 it looks like they've added so much more to the game! i loved animal crossing: new horizons but the thought of having a hotel on my island pier, customizable rooms, and new craftable items is giving me life 😍 plus with the ability to build up to three additional islands and expand home storage... its gonna be a whole new level of fun 🎉 the collaborations with other nintendo franchises are also super exciting 🤯 I'm definitely getting the switch 2 edition on january 15th, who's with me? 👍

and nintendo's also comin out w/ a physical & digital release of the switch 2 edition which is so hyped 🎉 at $65 its gonna be a game-changer for new players. plus, they're includin collaborations w/ other nintendo franchises like Zelda & splatoon, & lego-themed items 🤖🌈... this update's got everythin we need 2 take our island paradise 2 the next level 💥

I'm so hyped about the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition! 🤩 The fact that they're adding a hotel and customizable rooms is going to be epic. I love how Nintendo is supporting both old and new consoles with the free update too, it's great for the community. 🌴 But what's really got me excited is the collaboration with other franchises like Zelda and Splatoon. It's amazing to think that I'll be able to experience my island paradise in a whole new way. Can't wait to dive back into the game and show off my new hotel and Lego-themed items! 😄

idk why nintendo needs to keep reviving animal crossing its like that one game ur stuck playing it 4 days straight lol. but i guess the new graphics and mouse controls might be a bit more interesting now. cant wait to see what other lame collaborations they come up with next. tho, having a hotel on the pier sounds kinda cool idk

I'm still not sold on the whole Animal Crossing hype 🤔. I mean, how many times can you redecorate your virtual island before it gets old? And those collaborations with Zelda and Splatoon sound like just a cash-grab to me 💸. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a hotel on the pier, but is it really worth $65 for a fancy new console edition? 🤷‍♂️ The free update sounds cool, I guess, but I'm not sure how much more it'll change the game for me... maybe just another reason to get sucked into its cute little world 😴.

omg y'all animal crossing: new horizons is finally getting a major overhaul 🤩 but i'm kinda skeptical about the price point of that sw2 edition... $65 seems steep considering we already have all these awesome free updates coming our way 🤑 plus, can we get rid of those annoying amiibo bundles? 🙄 and honestly, i hope they don't mess up the game's pace with too many new features... 12 player limit on switch 2 is a nice touch tho 👍
