Agriculture meets open space for Jan. 20 webinar

Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce Hosts Webinar on Agriculture and Open Space

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority will be presenting an update on its Agricultural Strategic Plan at a webinar scheduled for January 20. The authority aims to define its role in supporting local agriculture, with the goal of promoting sustainable farming practices.

During the webinar, Anna Regalado, the authority's agricultural specialist, will outline the key objectives of the plan and explain how public input, as well as feedback from farmers, farmworkers, and ranchers, will shape its development. The event promises to be an engaging discussion for those interested in the future of agriculture in the region.

Registration is not required but can be done through the provided link. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the subject matter.

Separately, the Open Space Authority has also announced an application process for a vacant seat on its board. The appointment will take place on January 22, following the December 11 meeting where Vicki Alexander resigned as District 5 Director. The selected individual will complete the remainder of Alexander's term, which expires in December. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 16.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must be at least 18 years old and registered voters in Santa Clara County, with residency within the authority's District 5 boundaries. Application forms are available online through openspaceauthority.org/board-directors.

omg u guys think santa clara valley open space authority is doing a great job on promoting sustainable farming practices 🌱👍 i mean its awesome that they're involving farmers and farmworkers in the planning process, cant wait to hear more about their agricultural strategic plan on jan 20 📚💡 anyone else going to attend?

omg u guys!! i just found out about dis webinar on agriculture & open space n its gonna be soooo interesting!!! 🤯 they're talkin bout sustainable farming practices n how to support local farmers n stuff... it sounds like a total game changer for our community! 🌿😊 also, theres an open spot on the board of directors n i think we should totally get more people involved in decision makin' process... its all about representation & makin sure everyones voice is heard 👥💬

I'm totally against webinars 🙄. Who needs to sit in front of a screen and listen to someone talk about their favorite topic? Can't we just meet up in person or video call each other instead? This whole webinar thing just seems like an excuse for people to procrastinate and avoid actual human interaction 🤷‍♂️.

And, honestly, I think the Open Space Authority should be looking for some fresh faces on its board, not just anyone who's registered to vote in District 5. Like, what if a total newbie shows up and makes all these decisions without even knowing what they're doing? Wouldn't that be kinda disastrous? 🤦‍♂️

Ugh, can we talk about the website redesign again? 🤯 I mean, I'm happy they're hosting a webinar on agriculture, it sounds interesting, but seriously, can't they just make it easier to find info like I did? Had to dig through 5 pages of their main site. 😩

And now they're announcing an open seat on the board and I'm like "yay, more stuff to wade through". 🙄 How about they just send me a newsletter or something? Don't have to be fancy, just keep me in the loop.

I guess it's good that farmers and farmworkers are involved, should make for some interesting discussion. 👍 But can we please get some kind of schedule or calendar on their website so I know when things are happening without having to search online every 5 minutes? 🤦‍♂️

I think it's kinda fishy that they're talking about supporting local agriculture while also considering an open space authority member to join their board... 🤔 it could be a power play, you know? Like, one entity gets all the benefits of promoting sustainable farming practices and the other one just gets to sit on the board and decide who's in charge. It feels like they're more interested in having someone to toe the line for them rather than actually listening to farmers and ranchers. Plus, what about the whole public input thing? Are we really gonna see some meaningful changes if it's all just a front for their own agenda? 🤷‍♀️
