Amanda Serrano vs Reina Tellez: Champion retains title on points in Puerto Rico

Amanda Serrano has successfully defended her WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine featherweight titles against a spirited Reina Tellez. The 37-year-old American champion, fighting in her home country for the first time since 2021, marked a triumphant return to Puerto Rico with a hard-fought victory.

Serrano, known as 'The Amazon', dominated the bout from start to finish, showcasing her ring intelligence and experience. Tellez, who was promoted by Most Valuable Promotions, gave Serrano a stern test, landing some quality shots that caused swelling under her right eye in the fifth round. However, Serrano's greater experience ultimately told as she controlled the latter stages of the fight to earn scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93.

The bout was contested over 10 three-minute rounds under men's boxing rules, with victory extending Serrano's professional record to 48 wins. Tellez, who is just 22 years old, proved that she is a force to be reckoned with in the featherweight division, having come from nowhere to challenge one of the world's best.

Serrano expressed her gratitude towards Reina for coming on short notice and fighting, describing her opponent as "a warrior". The champion also stated that she was happy to give the fans a show and is looking forward to her next fights, which she feels will be even better than this one.

The event paid tribute to Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele, two close friends of Anthony Joshua who died in a car crash on Monday. The bout was part of the tribute, with their names displayed on the ring canvas.

🀯 22 y/o Reina Tellez gives Amanda Serrano a run for her money πŸ’ͺ! But at the end of the day, experience wins out πŸ’«. Great fight and great sportsmanship from both fighters πŸ™. Tellez's a talented kid with a lot to learn, but she'll get there πŸš€. And props to Reina for stepping in on short notice 😊. The Amazon is still the queen πŸ‘‘

Serrano is like the internet - always adapting and coming back stronger πŸ’»πŸ’ͺ

I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s awesome how much heart Reina Tellez showed out there πŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺ! 22 and already taking on the best in the featherweight division? That takes guts, you know? And I love that Amanda Serrano gave her a stern test too - it was clear they both gave it their all. What I liked most about this fight though is how Sina Ghami & Latif "Latz" Ayodele's tribute to Anthony Joshua came together πŸŽ€πŸ’” - boxing can be so much more than just the sport itself, you know? It’s about community and respect for those who are no longer with us. Kudos to Amanda for making it a special event πŸ’•

OMG I'M SO GLAD AMANDA SERRANO FLEW BACK TO PUERTO Rico FOR THIS FIGHT!!! SHE WAS ON FIRE FROM START TO FINISH!!! THE FANS WERE GOING WILD CHEERING HER ON AND IT WAS SUCH AN AMAZING ATMOSPHERE!!!

REINA TELLEZ HAD NOTHING ON AMANDA IN TERMS OF EXPERIENCE BUT SHE GAVE SERRANO A RUN FOR HER MONEY ANYWAY!!! I MEAN WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD UNDERDOG STORY???? REINA IS THE FUTURE AND I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT'S NEXT FOR HER!!!

I FEEL BAD FOR TELLEZ THOUGH SHE LOOKED SO SCared BACK IN THE RING BUT YOU CAN'T BLAME HER ONE BIT FOR GOING OUT THERE AND GIVING IT A SHOT!!! AMANDA IS SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO FEMALE BOXERS AROUND THE WORLD AND I KNOW REINA WILL BE BACK STRONGER THAN EVER!!!

I'm loving Amanda Serrano's confidence 🀩 after that win! She totally dominated Reina Tellez and showed off her skills. But you know what? I think Reina's a dark horse in the featherweight division 😏. She came out swinging and gave Serrano a tough fight. I'd be curious to see how she'll bounce back from this loss, but at 22, she's still got her whole career ahead of her 🀞.

What I love about Amanda's post-fight interview is that she was so gracious to Reina, calling her a "warrior". That shows me she respects her opponent and isn't afraid to speak up for others πŸ’–. On the flip side, it's sad that we're paying tribute to Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele πŸ€•. Those were two talented individuals who left us too soon.

As a fan, I'm excited to see what Amanda does next! πŸ₯Š

Man, I'm so hyped for Amanda Serrano! She's literally the queen of the featherweight division right now 😎. Her skills are insane and she just dominated that fight from start to finish. And props to Reina Tellez for stepping up on short notice - it takes a lot of guts to take on someone like Serrano, especially at such a young age πŸ™Œ. I love how Serrano was all gracious and thanked Reina for coming in the fight, it's just class 🀩. And can we talk about her nickname "The Amazon" - it's so fitting! πŸ˜‚

man what a fight πŸ₯ŠπŸ‘ Amanda Serrano is literally a boxing genius! she's like 37 but she still got it πŸ’ͺ her opponent Reina Tellez came at her hard but in the end experience just took over πŸ˜… and that right eye was all swollen by the 5th round lololol. i love how Amanda showed respect to her opponent even though she dominated the whole fight πŸ‘πŸ‘

I'm loving the fact that Amanda 'The Amazon' Serrano just proved why she's one of the best female boxers out there πŸ₯Š! She came back from home to Puerto Rico and totally annihilated Reina Tellez in a fight that was way more competitive than expected 😲. I mean, 22 years old and already putting up a tough fight against a legendary champion like Serrano? That's impressive πŸ’ͺ.

It's great to see Amanda giving props to her opponent for stepping up on short notice - that takes a lot of guts πŸ€Ίβ€β™€οΈ. And I love how she described Reina as "a warrior" - that's the kind of respect and admiration we should all be showing each other πŸ’•.

I'm also super happy about the tribute during the event, honoring Anthony Joshua's friends Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele πŸ™. It's always sad to see people lose their lives in tragic circumstances, but it's great that we're taking a moment to remember them with love and respect ❀️.

Now I'm hyped for Amanda's next fights - she seems like someone who's always pushing herself to be better πŸ”₯! Bring on the action! πŸŽ‰

I gotta say, I'm still not sold on these fancy new boxing gloves they're using nowadays πŸ€”. I mean, they claim to improve the safety and performance of boxers, but have we seen any real data on that? And what's up with the ring being flooded with all those cameras and screens? It feels like more like a YouTube broadcast than an actual boxing match πŸ˜’. And don't even get me started on the constant commentary – can't they just let the fighters speak for themselves? I'm starting to think it's all about entertainment over athleticism 🎬. Anyway, congrats to Amanda Serrano on her win and all, but I'll be keeping a close eye on Reina Tellez - she's got some fire in her belly πŸ”₯!

Wow 🀩, 22 yrs old Reina Tellez giving Amanda Serrano a run for her money 😲, I mean she's got game! Her performance was way better than expected, she's definitely one to watch in the featherweight division πŸ’₯. And I'm loving how Serrano is showing respect and gratitude towards her opponent, that's what it's all about πŸ™. The tribute to Anthony Joshua's friends was a nice touch too πŸ˜”.
