Caleb Williams Concedes He Should Have Checked Down to Monangai on Interception Play.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has admitted that his decision to throw an interception in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens was not the right one, but he believes it is a good lesson learned for him and the team.
Williams conceded that coach Ben Johnson was correct that throwing to Rome Odunze on a crossing pattern down by three was a bad idea. However, Williams said that running back Kyle Monangai was open in the flat at the time and that he should have checked down to him instead.
According to Williams, in that situation, "just go get Kyle the ball as fast as possible and then let him make a great play for us." He added that Monangai could have gained ten or more yards on the play.
The interception was a costly mistake for the Bears, who trailed by three before the Ravens scored 10 points to seal their 30-16 victory.
