Brooklyn man charged in stabbing death of his 85-year-old grandmother

A Brooklyn Man Charged with Murder After Stabbing Death of 85-Year-Old Grandmother

A young man's life is now unraveling after he allegedly stabbed his own grandmother to death in a shocking turn of events. Jackson King, just 22 years old, has been charged with murder and a serious weapons offense in connection with the Tuesday night attack on his 85-year-old grandmother, Julia Boomer.

Eyewitnesses report that Boomer suffered multiple stab wounds during the altercation, which took place at their shared Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment. King was taken into custody hours after the incident but wasn't formally charged until Friday, leaving authorities scrambling to determine the motivations behind the brutal attack.

According to police, they were initially investigating the possibility of a psychotic episode being the driving force behind the violent outburst. However, it's unclear at this time whether that angle remains a focus of their investigation.

The NYPD has declined to comment on King's representation, leaving his lawyer's information and any potential defense strategy uncertain. Boomer's passing marks the first homicide in 2026 for the 79th Precinct, which serves Bed-Stuy, according to NYPD data.

Notably, this year is shaping up to be a relatively quiet one for violent crime in Brooklyn. Despite a slight uptick in homicides compared to previous years โ€“ with eight reported each in 2024 and 2025 โ€“ overall fatalities have declined by over 20% citywide.

๐Ÿ˜” it's just heartbreaking when something like this happens... i mean, an 85-year-old grandma gets stabbed to death by her own grandson ๐Ÿคฏ and the police are still trying to figure out what led up to that moment ๐Ÿ’ก. it's like, we know our communities have issues with mental health and stuff, but stabbing someone over...well, who knows? ๐Ÿ˜•. anyway, i hope the family is getting some support during this tough time ๐Ÿ’—. and btw, 79th Precinct can do better with their data on crime stats ๐Ÿ“Š.

man... what's gonna happen to that kid? 22 yrs old stabbing his own grandma to death? it's like something outta a movie, you know? i was talkin' to my aunt the other day and she was tellin' me about how her sister used to live with her when they were kids, but it was different back then... people didn't do stuff like that. anyway, it's just crazy... NYPD is bein all vague about the case, too. can't help but wonder what was goin on in that kid's head. and 8 homicides in 2025? it's still pretty low, considerin' the city's been gettin a lot of flak lately ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’€

idk if 22 is too young to be behind bars for life lol ๐Ÿค”. i mean, the guy was just 22, like me, but that doesn't necessarily make him a lost cause or something... and what's with all the hesitation from the police on getting his lawyer? shouldn't they just give us some info already? ๐Ÿšซ

and btw, eight homicides in 2024 & 2025 is kinda low considering how many people are out there. like, i get that crime rates are gonna fluctuate, but 20% less citywide is still pretty surprising... maybe it's all those new community programs and stuff that are actually working? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿค• can't believe this is happening in our community, stabbing an elderly lady just 'cause she's his grandma? 22 yrs old man, what were u thinkin'? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ it's not like it's the first time a young person gets involved in some crazy stuff but stabbing someone to death? that's just plain insane...anyway, hopefully the justice system does its thing and he faces the consequences ๐Ÿš”

can't believe a young guy like that is capable of something so brutal ๐Ÿคฏ he must've been going through some super dark stuff, but stabbing his own grandma? that's just not right... i mean, i'm all for understanding mental health and all, but this kind of thing makes me wanna ask if we're missing something here. was it a one-time thing or has he been acting out before? needs to be more than just "he had a psychotic episode" as an excuse... and what about the grandma's side of the story? was she some kinda enabler or did she know something that led up to this?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, what can you say about a young man who just goes ballistic on his own grandma? I've seen some crazy stuff in my time online, but this takes the cake. And the fact that he's only 22 years old is just mind-boggling. It's like, what was going through his head at that moment? Was it something that happened recently? A family argument or something? The police are saying maybe it was a psychotic episode, but I'm not so sure... I mean, how do you go from having a loving relationship with your grandma to stabbing her in the back like that? It's just too much to take in.

I cant even imagine what's going through the mind of that young man, stabbing his own grandma like that ๐Ÿคฏ... it's just so sad, you know? It makes me think of all those old movies from the 80s and 90s where the bad guys were always, like, so unstable and violent. But this is real life, and it hurts so much ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, 85 years old is ancient, and she was just living her best life... now she's gone ๐Ÿ˜ข. And what about King? Is he going to be okay? Does he know that he's going to spend the rest of his life in prison? It's all just so... tragic ๐Ÿค•.

omg this is just so senseless i cant even think about it right now... 22 years old stabbing his own grandma who's 85 that's like 57 yrs older than him what was he thinking? didnt he know how much pain he was causing her? and all those people walked away from this whole thing thinking maybe its just a case of mental illness yeah right lets not forget hes still young and stupid enough to think he could take on the law but now his life is over

i also cant believe they didnt catch him sooner like what were the police doing in bedford-stuyvesant taking so long? shouldnt there be some kind of system in place for this kinda thing? its not like hes some random guy off the street. he was family to her

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘Ž Just heard about this young dude stabbin his own grandma to death ๐Ÿคฏ what's wrong with these kids nowadays? ๐Ÿ™„ 22 years old, stabbed a 85-year-old lady and now he's gettin charged with murder ๐Ÿ’” like, grow up, man! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

this is just devastating ๐Ÿค•, 85 is way too old to die like this. you'd think that her own grandson would be able to take care of her better... i guess you never really know what's going on in someone's life until it's too late. anyway, the fact that he's young and from a good neighborhood makes me wanna feel bad for him, but at the same time, his actions can't be justified. 22 is still pretty young to be dealing with the weight of murder charges... hopefully he gets some decent help and turns his life around ๐Ÿคž

This is just devastating ๐Ÿค•, you know? 85 years old, stabbed to death by her own grandson? It's like the whole world has gone mad ๐ŸŒŽ. I mean, what's going on with these young people, right? They need help, but at what cost? The grandma's gone and this kid's life is over... it's just not fair ๐Ÿ˜”.

OMG, I'm literally shook by this news ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. A 22-yr-old stabbing his own grandma to death? It's like, what even is going on with young people these days? ๐Ÿ˜” And the fact that he was taken into custody hours after and wasn't charged until Friday? Like, shouldn't we have had more info about him earlier?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

And can we talk about how broken this system feels? I mean, his lawyer's info is still unknown because of police secrecy? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ It's like, they're not even trying to understand what happened or support the victim's family. And meanwhile, the NYPD is just chillin' with the info that the motive might be a psychotic episode? Like, isn't that a pretty big clue?! ๐Ÿค”

Anyway, it's just so sad for Julia Boomer and her family. May she rest in peace ๐Ÿ’–. We need to do better as a society to support our elderly and mental health. ๐Ÿ’š
