Cardi B Prevails in Security Guard's New Trial Bid After He Claims She Scratched His Face Outside Beverly Hills Doctor's Office.
A Los Angeles County Judge has denied a security guard's request for a new trial after he claimed Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B scratched his face with an acrylic fingernail outside a Beverly Hills doctor’s office in 2018.
The verdict came three months after Cardi B emerged victorious in her own trial against the security guard, Emani Ellis, who claimed she physically assaulted him at the obstetrician's office on February 24, 2018.
Judge Ian Fusselman rejected Ellis' claim that two eyewitnesses should have been barred for late disclosure and dismissed the argument that jurors were intimidated by Cardi B after she threw a pen outside the courthouse shortly before the September 2 verdict in her favor.
Cardi B was found not guilty of physically assaulting security guard Emani Ellis at an obstetrician's office in 2018. The judge rejected Ellis' claim that two eyewitnesses should have been barred for late disclosure and dismissed the argument that jurors were intimidated by Cardi B after she threw a pen outside the courthouse.
The jury returned a verdict on September 2, finding Cardi B not liable for physical or emotional damages inflicted upon Emani Ellis. It was determined that Ellis failed to prove that the rapper physically assaulted her at an obstetrician's office in February of last year.
