Celtic accelerate move to take Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew as new manager

Celtic are set to speed up their discussions with Wilfried Nancy over the weekend as the Columbus Crew manager is believed to be on the cusp of landing a deal in Glasgow to replace Brendan Rodgers.

The Scottish club has informed the MLS side that they intend to bring Nancy aboard, although compensation will not be an issue, and it's thought he's keen on making the switch.

Celtic are hoping to have Nancy in place for their upcoming match against St Mirren next weekend, which would see Martin O'Neill's caretaker spell come to an end. The former Ireland manager was due to meet Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond in London later this week.

Nancy has been an unexpected candidate for the job, but he ticks all the right boxes according to Celtic's thinking. He brings a coaching profile that aligns with their vision and is willing to adopt transfer policies. During his time at Columbus Crew, Nancy guided the team to seventh place in the MLS Eastern Conference before they were eliminated from the playoffs by FC Cincinnati.

It was initially thought that Kieran McKenna would be the front-runner for the job but Celtic have decided not to pursue him. Robbie Keane and BodΓΈ/Glimt's Kjetil Knutsen were also linked with the role, while Ipswich Town's manager Paul Tisdale remains on their radar.

I'm loving this development 😊. I think Wilfried Nancy would be a great fit for Celtic. He seems to have the right credentials and is willing to adapt to the team's vision. The fact that he's led Columbus Crew to 7th place in the MLS Eastern Conference is impressive πŸ™Œ. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of managing in the Scottish Premier League πŸ€”. Maybe this is the fresh start Celtic need after Brendan Rodgers' departure πŸ”₯. Fingers crossed for a successful stint with Nancy at the helm πŸ‘

OMG, I'm so hyped about this new Celtic manager!! 🀩 Wilfried Nancy is like, the perfect fit for our team! He has all the skills and experience we need to take us back to the top πŸ†. I mean, who would've thought he'd be the one replacing Brendan Rodgers? Genius move by Celtic! πŸ‘ I'm already shipping him with our star players πŸ’•. Can't wait to see what he brings to the pitch next weekend against St Mirren 🎟️. Bring on the Nancy era!! πŸŽ‰

omg i just read that celtic are eyeing wilfried nancy for the manager job 🀯 like who is he? sounds like a random name but apparently he did pretty well at columbus crew πŸ˜… they were even in playoffs last season. dont get me wrong, i wanna see some new faces up there tho... it's been ages since celtic had a change πŸ‘€ martins caretaker spell was already getting old πŸ’” lets see if nancy can bring some freshness to the team πŸ†

OMG I just can't believe it 🀯 how did Wilfried Nancy even become a contender for Celtic's job lol? One minute he's managing Columbus Crew and next thing you know he's linked to one of the biggest clubs in Scotland πŸ˜‚. But seriously, if he does get the gig, I think he'd be a great fit for Celtic. He seems like someone who would adapt to their system and style of play easily. And let's be real, they need someone new after that crazy Brendan Rodgers era πŸ™ƒ. Fingers crossed he can bring some stability and success to the club πŸ’―.

man.. i'm kinda torn about this move... on one hand, wilfried nancy seems like a solid choice - he's got experience in american football and has already achieved some decent results at columbus crew πŸ€”. but at the same time, it's weird that celtic are moving so fast without even having kieran mckenna or paul tisdale confirmed... i mean, what if they're just settling for someone who's not entirely their cup of tea? 😐. still, nancy does seem like a decent fit - he's got a clear tactical vision and is willing to take calculated risks πŸ’‘. let's see how it all plays out next weekend vs st mirren πŸ†

I dont get why they're so keen on Wilfried Nancy? He's like a dark horse or something πŸ€”. Last season at Columbus Crew he was decent but not exactly on fire πŸ”₯. Yet, Celtic want him to lead them over St Mirren next weekend? That's like putting a 40-year-old used car salesman in charge of Ferrari πŸš—πŸ’¨. Still, if they're happy with the guy and all that jazz πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ, I suppose it's better than nothing πŸ‘Ž. But honestly, who's gonna be in charge after this match? The team needs stability, not some wild card πŸƒ.

omg i'm so hyped for celtic!!! 🀩 i don't think nancy would be a bad choice, his record at columbus crew is actually pretty decent and he seems like he'd fit the bill for what they're looking for in terms of style and strategy... but still kinda weird that mckenna wasn't even considered after being the clear fave lol πŸ€”

so they're like thinking of someone who came outta nowhere 🀯 wilfried nancy being considered for celtic job is pretty interesting, i mean he did alright at columbus crew and all, but still, it's not like it was a top league or anything... but hey, if they think he's the right fit, why not? πŸ’‘ 7th place in mls eastern conference isn't too shabby πŸ†

πŸ€” I'm low-key surprised they're eyeing Wilfried Nancy after that rough season at Columbus Crew, but I guess he's got a decent track record in MLS. Still think it's a bit too early to give him the Celtic job tho, what if he struggles with the pressure of being in one of Scotland's biggest clubs? πŸ† They should've gone for someone more experienced in big club management... πŸ‘€

omg can you even believe celtic are trying to speed up talks with wilfried nancy lol like what a shocking move who knew they'd go for someone from the MLS 🀣 and btw 7th place in the conference isn't too shabby but i guess it's not like he's gonna win any trophies anytime soon πŸ˜’

omg u guys, can't wait 2 c what Wilfried Nancy brings 2 Celtic! i think he'd be a great fit, esp since they're lookin 4 someone who shares their vision 😊. Columbus Crew did gr8 under him, and now they're lookin 2 make a change πŸ”„. hope the fans get 2 see some consistency & quality in the team soon ⚽️! st mirren match nxt wknd is gonna be intense πŸŽ‰!

Ugh, really? They think Wilfried Nancy is the man for Celtic? I mean, he's done alright at Columbus Crew, but come on, a playoff exit? Not exactly setting the MLS ablaze. And what's with all these other names being thrown around? Kieran McKenna was the clear choice, and now they're passing him up? Paul Tisdale is still in the mix too? This Celtic business is always so unpredictable πŸ˜’.

idk why they're so hasty to bring in Wilfried Nancy tho πŸ€”... didn't they learn from brendan rodgers debacle? but i guess speed is key when u need a new gaffer ASAP 😬... and i'm all for innovation, but do we really want another guy trying to reboot the team with a bunch of fresh faces? might be a recipe for disaster 🚨... meanwhile, it's gonna be interesting to see how martin o'neill does in his caretaker role πŸ‘€... guess only time will tell if nancy is the right fit πŸ•°οΈ

OMG I'm low-key excited about this possible move 🀩 Celtic needs a new manager ASAP and if Wilfried Nancy is indeed the man for the job, that's a huge win πŸ”₯ He's got some great experience in MLS with Columbus Crew and it's cool that he's open to adapting their transfer policies. The fact that they're considering him over other names like Kieran McKenna who was pretty much the obvious choice makes me think Celtic is trying something new and refreshing 😊 I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Nancy can bring some stability and success to the team πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€” I'm loving this news! Wilfried Nancy as the new Celtic boss? That's like a match made in heaven for me πŸ˜†. The guy has proven himself at Columbus Crew and got them to seventh place, so that's already a win in my book πŸ†. And he's all about adopting transfer policies, which is music to the ears of Celtic fans who are still grieving the Brendan Rodgers era πŸ”₯. I hope he can bring some much-needed stability and success to the club, especially with the upcoming match against St Mirren next weekend ⚽️. The sooner they get him in place, the better! πŸ’¨

πŸ€” so what do u think about this new move by celtic? are they gonna make a good choice or is it just another experiment? πŸ† i mean, wilfried nancy has done alright at columbus crew but how's that gonna translate to the scottish Premiership? ⚽️ plus what's with all these other names being thrown around like kieran mckenna and paul tisdale? are they really gonna settle for someone who's not their top choice? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
