China Box Office: ‘Her Turn’ Debuts at No. 1, ‘Evangelion: 3.0+1.0’ Opens Strong

"Chinese Box Office Breaks Records with Record-Breaking Releases"

Over the weekend of October 31-November 2, two blockbuster releases dominated China's box office, sending shockwaves through the film industry. Maoyan Movie's "Her Turn", directed by Cheng Yanan and starring a talented ensemble cast including Li Gengxi, Deng Jiajia, Liu Yitie, Huang Xiaoming, and Yue Jiayi, took the top spot with an impressive opening two-day frame of RMB35.5 million ($5 million).

The thriller follows the story of a partially paralysed woman who returns to her family's remote mansion, uncovering long-buried secrets and a revenge plot years in the making. The film's success is a testament to its gripping storyline and strong performances from the cast.

Coming in second place was Studio Khara's Japanese import "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0", which grossed $4.1 million. This concluding chapter of Hideaki Anno's long-running "Rebuild of Evangelion" film series continues to draw global fandom attention, with the anime epic drawing in fans from all over.

Other notable releases include PMF Pictures' comedy-drama "Row to Win", which ranked third with $3.2 million, bringing its cumulative total to $56.8 million, and China Film Group's patriotic epic "The Volunteers: Peace at Last", which earned $1.3 million for a running total of $87.3 million.

With these record-breaking releases, the Chinese box office reached $21 million over the weekend, pushing 2025's cumulative gross to $6.29 billion, up 16.1% year-on-year.

I'm not surprised to see China's box office on fire 💥🎥. Those movies sound like real page-turners! I love how "Her Turn" explores themes of family and revenge - it's like a big ol' family drama, but with guns and secrets 😂. And who doesn't love an anime epic? The fact that fans are still going wild for "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" is a testament to the power of nostalgia and great storytelling. It's also cool to see domestic releases like "Row to Win" doing so well - it shows there's still a demand for Chinese content 🎬. The box office just keeps breaking records, and I'm excited to see what 2025 has in store! 💸

I'm not surprised that Chinese cinema is killing it at the box office 🤯! With talented directors like Cheng Yanan and epic franchises like Evangelion, China's film industry is really stepping up its game. Maoyan Movie's "Her Turn" is a masterclass in storytelling – I love how they've woven together suspenseful plot twists with strong character development. The ensemble cast is also on point, with standout performances from everyone involved. It's amazing to see how these films are drawing in massive audiences and breaking records left and right 💸.

I think what's really driving this success is the growing appetite for quality content among Chinese viewers. With more people having access to high-speed internet and streaming platforms, there's never been a better time to showcase China's cinematic talent globally 🌏. The industry's focus on creating immersive experiences that cater to diverse tastes is definitely paying off.

Of course, these numbers are just the tip of the iceberg – I'm excited to see how this momentum carries over into 2026 and beyond 🔥!

OMG, like, China is on fire at the box office rn 🚀💥! "Her Turn" is straight fire 🔥, I love how it broke records and all that jazz 💸. And can we talk about the cast, they're literally who's to be? Li Gengxi, Deng Jiajia, Liu Yitie... I'm obsessed 😍. Japanese imports are always cool, but "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" is like, a whole different level of epic 🤯. And "Row to Win" and "The Volunteers: Peace at Last" too? More movies, more money 💸! The Chinese box office is looking solid for 2025, let's see if they can keep it up 📈🎥.

man, chinese films are getting so good right now 🤩 and her turn is like whoa what a thriller that movie must've been to pull off RMB35.5 million in two days 💸 i'm not surprised tho with the cast they got everyone's gonna want to see it. evangelion's still got a huge following btw it's crazy how much money japanese anime movies are making in china now 🤯 and row to win is like a funny chinese version of american pie lol that movie's got potential

OMG 🤯 this is insane! China's box office is on fire 🔥 and it's not just about the money, these movies are killing it in terms of quality too! I mean, have you seen the cast list for "Her Turn" 🤩? It's like a superpower team 💪. And can we talk about how cool it is that they're showing Japanese anime films in China? The Evangelion series has such a dedicated fanbase worldwide 🌎.

But what's really interesting is how these movies are pushing the Chinese box office to new heights 🚀. It's not just about Hollywood blockbusters anymore, domestic productions like "Row to Win" are doing their thing too 🎥. And let's not forget about the patriotism in "The Volunteers: Peace at Last" - it's great to see more content celebrating China's history and culture 💕.

I'm loving how 2025 is shaping up to be an epic year for Chinese cinema 🎬! Keep those movies coming, I'm hyped 😆.

I'm not buying it 🤑. A RMB35.5 million opening weekend for "Her Turn"? That's a pretty big number for a Chinese movie. Where are the international reviews? Have any of these movies been screened at major film festivals? I want to see some credibility behind these claims 💸. How can we trust the numbers without seeing some real-world evidence? 🤔

omg china box office is on fire this weekend! i'm lowkey surprised by how well "her turn" did 🤯, that movie sounded so intense and the cast is amazing 🎬. but hey, who can blame them for breaking records when you've got a talented team behind it? 6.29 billion total gross is crazy btw 🤑. and i love that japanese imports are doing well too, like "evangelion" fans are super dedicated 😊. anyway, i'm curious to see what other movies come out this season - keep the box office buzz going! 💥

OMG 🤯 I'm not surprised at all that "Her Turn" is killing it on the box office! The cast is insane and Cheng Yanan is a genius director. That storyline sounds so intense and emotional - I need to see it ASAP! 💥 Also, what's up with the Japanese anime series "Evangelion"? It's been around for ages but still drawing in fans worldwide. Maybe China can help spread more love for this iconic franchise? 🤓

.. I mean, can you believe how big this is? 🤯 China's box office is absolutely on fire right now! It's crazy to see these movies raking it in like this - "Her Turn" and "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" are huge successes, no doubt about that 😎.

But you know what's interesting? It makes me think about how far the Chinese film industry has come, right? I mean, back when I was a kid, we didn't even have Netflix in China... and now look at it! 📺 The films they're producing are getting more sophisticated all the time, with complex storylines and talented casts.

Of course, as much as I love these movies, I also think about how they might be catering to a specific audience - one that's really into action and suspense. Don't get me wrong, those things can be awesome too 😃... but what about other genres? I'd love to see more Chinese films exploring different themes and styles.

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that it's exciting to see the box office doing so well in China - let's keep an eye on how they continue to grow and evolve as a film industry 🎥💪.

Umm I dont get why every chinese movie is getting so much attention its all just another formulaic thriller or anime ripoff 🤦‍♂️. I mean what happened to some originality? and the casting in her turn sounds like a bunch of random people who arent even that well known outside china lol. i swear the only reason it did so well is cuz it was promoted to death on chinese social media 📱. give me something with some substance or an american director for once 🙄

omg u guys i just watched "Her Turn" w/ my squad and we were ALL SHOOK by how intense it was lol the lead actress li gengxi is literally so talented 🤩 she gave me CHILLS in one scene i'm still trying to process everything that happened at the mansion tbh also can we talk about how Huang Xiaoming's character is SOOOO mysterious? 😂 I ship him with Yue Jiayi's character so hard and i think they'd make a great couple 🎥👫
