City win sealed with a kiss after resilience of Guéhi twists title race | Andy Hunter

Manchester City's title win nears after dramatic comeback against Liverpool, with Marc Guéhi's resilience pivotal to the team's success.

Pep Guardiola blew a kiss to the heavens at Anfield, a gesture of gratitude and relief for his players who had secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Liverpool. The City manager has faced numerous defeats in this stadium before, but today's win marked a turning point in the title race.

Guardiola's smile told a story of redemption, as City came back from a deficit to reclaim top spot. However, the City boss is aware that the title is not yet won. With 13 league games remaining, Guardiola knows that his team must maintain their momentum and stay focused.

Guéhi's impressive performance was instrumental in City's victory. The £20m recruit had a solid first half, making crucial blocks to deny Liverpool threats. However, he was finally beaten by Szoboszlai in the second half, leading to a goal for the Egyptian striker. Guéhi recovered impressively from this setback and provided a platform for City's comeback.

City's win is also attributed to the team's nerveless precision, particularly from Erling Haaland, who scored from the penalty spot six minutes earlier. The England international's accuracy under pressure was a testament to the team's composure in high-pressure situations.

The Kop's reception of Guéhi has been puzzling, with some Liverpool fans booing him for his past comments about joining the Reds. However, Guéhi proved himself to be part of the better team today, and his performances will likely earn him more respect from City supporters.

With this win, City have effectively put the brakes on Liverpool's title charge. The Reds are now nine points behind, with 13 games remaining in the season. While Liverpool can still mount a comeback, City's victory has given them a significant advantage.

Guardiola knows that his team must stay focused and maintain their performance levels over the final stretch of the season. With Guéhi and other players like Bernardo Silva and Rodri contributing to the team's success, City are well-equipped to handle the pressure and secure the title.

omg u guys!! i cant even beleev what just happened!!! manchester city is on fire right now!! 🚀 marc guéhi was literally the difference maker in that game against liverpool... his resilience is insane! 😲 and erling haaland's penalty goal was pure perfection! 💯 pep guardiola seems like such a cool guy too, i love how he showed gratitude to his players after that win 🙏. anyway, it looks like city has taken the lead in the title race, but 13 games still remain... lets see how they maintain their momentum 🤞

I feel like Pep Guardiola is just so humble 🙏 after that win. I mean, we've all seen those epic comebacks before, but it's still insane how City managed to turn it around. And Marc Guéhi's resilience? Unbelievable 💪! He took some serious hits from the Liverpool fans for his past comments, but he proved them wrong today. That's what being part of a winning team is all about. Now that City have taken the lead, I'm sure we'll see some intense matches over the next 13 games ⚽️. It's gonna be interesting to see how the title hunt plays out, especially with Liverpool trailing behind 😊.

I'm so hyped for Man City 🤩! They've been through so much this season already but they never gave up on each other. I mean, that comeback against Liverpool was insane 😲! Guéhi's skills on the pitch are seriously underrated - he really stepped up when it mattered most 💪. And can we talk about Erling Haaland for a sec? The man is a genius 🙌! His penalty save was pure magic ✨... and those fans who booed Guéhi at Anfield? Good riddance 👋! City's got this title in the bag, no doubt 🏆.

OMG u guys i'm literally screaming from my couch 🤯 pep guardiola blew a kiss 2 the heavens lolol what a manager he is!!! 😂 Marc guéhi tho i love how he proved himself 2 the doubters his performance was insane 🤩 but omg can we talk about how some liverpool fans were booing him 4 past comments lolol classless 🙅‍♂️ anyway back to city's win 🏆 they r basically done with the title now 😎 and i'm shakin in my boots thinking about the final stretch of the season 🤯 but seriously though, erling haaland is literally a genius on the pitch 💪 his penalty skills r unmatched 🔥

omg i'm literally so hyped for man city right now 🤩 they've been on a rollercoaster ride all season but pep guardiola is literally a genius 💫 his tactics and team management have been so on point, especially with marc guéhi stepping up to the plate 👏 he's such an underrated player and i love how he just shuts down opponents like szoboszlai 😎 it's also insane that erling haaland is so clutch under pressure 🤯 13 games left and city are in a great position, fingers crossed they can bring home that title 🏆

🙄 Come on, folks! You're all just drinking the Pep Guardiola Kool-Aid without even doing your research. I mean, Marc Guéhi's performance was solid, but he wasn't the real MVP here. It's all about Erling Haaland's precision from that penalty spot - that's what sealed the deal for City.

And let's get a grip on those Liverpool fans booing Guéhi... Booing someone for past comments is classless, regardless of who they are playing against. It says more about the fans than the player himself.

But yeah, City's win has given them an advantage, and with 13 games left, it's gonna be tough for Liverpool to catch up. Guardiola knows his team needs to stay focused, but I think he should've been planning this title push months ago... 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, City fans can celebrate for now, but we'll see what happens next season! 😎

just saw this game 🤯 pep guardiola is a genius lol, that guy never gives up 😅 marc guéhi did an amazing job keeping city in the game, but now they're just cruising towards that title 🏆 erling haaland's penalty save was pure magic 💥 and those liverpool fans for booing guéhi, like what did he even do? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, city's got this 👊 https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/57115156

I'm gettin' chills thinkin' about how City came back from that deficit 🤯! It was like they were playin' in a 90s Premier League match, all gritty and intense 😅. And Marc Guéhi, man... he's like the modern-day version of Sol Campbell, defendin' his team with his life 💪. I love how Erling Haaland just took that penalty like it was a walk in the park 🎯. It's days like these that remind me why I'm such a huge City fan 🔵❤️. And let's be real, Liverpool's chances of winnin' the title are lookin' pretty slim now 😂. Pep Guardiola's got this one wrapped up tight, and it'll be an easy season for City if they keep playin' like that 💥!

I'm so hyped for City right now!!! 🤩 Pep has them back in the hunt and this comeback win is everything we needed! Marc Guéhi came out of nowhere with that solid first half but still managed to keep it together when things went wrong, I love his resilience 💪. And let's not forget Erling Haaland's penalty goal, that lad's got ice in his veins 🔴👊. I'm so down for the rest of the season now, City's got this! 💥

I'm loving this moment in the Premier League title race 🏆👊 Pep Guardiola has shown us that he's not just a master tactician but also a leader who can inspire his players to dig deep when all hope seems lost 💪! The drama at Anfield was intense, and it just goes to show how clutch Marc Guéhi is for City. £20m recruit or not, the guy's got ice in his veins 🤷‍♂️! The way he recovered from getting beat by Szoboszlai is a testament to his professionalism.

But let's be real, this win is also a reflection of Guardiola's ability to adapt and evolve as a manager 🔄. He knew that City needed a spark, and he lit it up with that decisive victory. It's not just about the players; it's about the team's collective effort and willpower 💯!

And can we talk about the impact this win has on the title race? 🔥 City's got a nine-point gap now, but it's not insurmountable. Liverpool still have 13 games to go, and they can mount a comeback if they stay focused and play smart 🤔. It's all about consistency and staying hungry for those three points.

Anyway, I'm loving this season so far, and City's win has given them the momentum they need 🔜! Who's ready for the title showdown? 😄

I'm so done with this hype around Manchester City's comeback win 🙄. Like, yeah okay they won, big whoop 🤷‍♂️. It's not like Liverpool was expecting them to blow it 🙃. And Guéhi being booed by some fans? Oh poor Marc, boo hoo 🙄. Get over yourself, dude 😒. The Kop wasn't that loud in the second half and Guéhi still managed to recover from his mistake 💪. Also, what's with all this "nervesless precision" nonsense? It's just football, guys 🤦‍♂️. City's win was nothing special, it was just a lucky comeback 🤔. And 9 points behind in the title race is still a whole lot of ground to cover ⛰️. Bring it on, I say 😏

man Pep's got this now 🙌! i was on the edge of my seat watching that match 😱, marc guéhi is literally a hero for city 🔥. i mean, 20m price tag or not he proved himself as a top class defender 👏. and erling haaland's penalty conversion was pure magic ✨. but seriously, pep knows what he's doing 💡, this win puts them in an amazing position to take the title 🏆. gotta say, city fans are going wild out here 🎉🔵💪

omg i just got back from that new trampoline park downtown 🤸‍♀️ it's literally so much fun! they have these awesome obstacles on the trampolines too, like a giant foam pit 😂 i was bouncing around for ages and then i saw this kid doing some insane flips, i was like "whoa, how did he even do that?!" 🤯 anyway, back to football... i think what's really important is that City's squad depth is looking pretty strong right now. they've got all these players who can fill in for each other when someone gets injured or suspended 🤞

I don't usually comment but... I think it's crazy how much this win means for Manchester City 🤯 They've been struggling against Liverpool in this stadium before and Pep Guardiola was so emotional after that kiss 😂 It's not just about Guéhi, though - the whole team played their hearts out. Erling Haaland's accuracy from the penalty spot was pure magic ✨ And can't forget how nervous City looked at the start of the game 🙅‍♂️ But they pulled it together and proved they're one of the best teams in the league now 🔥 Still, 13 games to go, so we'll see what happens 👀

man what a game! 🤯 Pep finally got his revenge at Anfield and it was all thanks to Marc Guéhi's resilience 😊 he had some great blocks in the first half but then that one mistake against Szoboszlai was like a punch in the gut... but Guéhi picked himself up and played some solid stuff in the second half. and Erling Haaland is just on another level 🔥 penalty spot, no problem! 🙌 so yeah City are back in top spot for now, but we all know it's not over yet... 13 games to go and they'll need to stay focused 👊

Omg I'm so confused 🤯 what's going on in this Premier League?! Like, one minute Liverpool is all like "we're gonna take the title" and the next minute Manchester City comes back from behind and wins it all! 😲 How did Marc Guéhi even do that? He's like a superhero or something 💪 I don't get why some Liverpool fans were booing him tho... didn't he say he wanted to play for them? 🤔 Anyway, Pep Guardiola seems sooo cool with his kissy face 🙏 and his smile of relief is just too cute 😍 Can someone explain to me how this works in the league? Like, what's a title win even mean? 🤷‍♀️
