Cristiano Ronaldo: Saudi Pro League warns Al-Nassr forward no player is bigger than club

The Saudi Pro League has issued a warning to Cristiano Ronaldo, the 41-year-old Portuguese forward who plays for Al-Nassr, stating that "no individual - however significant - determines decisions beyond their own club". This warning comes amid growing doubts over his future at the club following reports that he was left out of Monday's squad for the Saudi Pro League game against Al-Riyadh.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Ronaldo refused to play in the match and had grown dissatisfied with how the club was being run by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also backs Newcastle United. The reason behind his frustration is believed to be a loan move to rivals Al-Hilal, led by former Real Madrid team-mate Karim Benzema, who has already scored a hat-trick on his debut for the club in a 6-0 win over Al-Okhdood.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2022 and has since won the Arab Club Champions Cup with them, but it appears that he is now considering leaving the club. The Saudi Pro League has made it clear that any player can leave their current club, provided they have a valid release clause or permission from their employers.

In a statement issued to BBC Sport, a spokesperson for the Saudi Pro League said: "The competitiveness of the league speaks for itself. With only a few points separating the top four, the title race is very much alive. That level of balance reflects a system that is working as intended." The focus remains on football - on the pitch, where it belongs - and on maintaining a credible, competitive competition for players and fans.

Ronaldo has been fully engaged with Al-Nassr since his arrival, but it seems that he wants to win. He has only played in the Arab Club Champions Cup with them and was paid an annual salary of Β£177m when he signed a new two-year contract in June 2025.

OMG, this is getting crazy πŸ˜‚! I feel bad for Cristiano Ronaldo, he's been playing amazing football but it seems like the politics behind his move to Al-Nassr are messing with him πŸ€”. He's been paid so much money to join the club and win trophies, but now it feels like that's not enough πŸ’Έ.

I think it's time for CR7 to take a step back and reevaluate what he wants from football πŸ†. Is it just about the money or is it about playing for his team? I get it, he's been left out of the squad and that must be frustrating πŸ˜’.

The Saudi Pro League needs to get its act together and show respect to their players πŸ’ͺ. It's not right that a player can be benched without even explaining themselves πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I wish CR7 all the best, but I think he deserves better than this πŸ™.

Looks like CR7's ego is getting the best of him πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. All that cash and still not happy? πŸ€‘ He should just chill, leave, or win games to keep himself employed πŸ’ͺ

Ugh man, I'm still trying to process this 🀯. Cristiano Ronaldo, the GOAT, or so they say? πŸ˜‚ It's crazy how even someone as iconic as CR7 can get frustrated with his club. I mean, I feel him on the frustration thing though - who doesn't want to win at their age? πŸ†

But seriously, Al-Nassr needs to step up their game if Ronaldo is truly leaving. He's been paid Β£177m a year and has won the Arab Club Champions Cup with them... what more do you want?! πŸ€‘ It's like they're not even giving him the respect he deserves.

And can we talk about how this whole thing makes me nostalgic for the good ol' days of Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid? 😊 I know he's had an amazing career, but there was just something special about watching CR7 dominate on the pitch. Those were the days, man...

πŸ˜‚ I mean, come on, Cristiano Ronaldo is 41 and still feeling like a young gun? 🀣 He's like a teenager who just got his first Ferrari, but now it's all about the prestige and respect of the game... or so he thinks πŸ€‘. The Saudi Pro League warning was like a dad telling him to chill out, "no individual is bigger than their club". Maybe Ronaldo should take some tips from the guys in Saudi Arabia, they're like the ultimate football fans - we'll buy you a new contract just because you showed up! πŸ’Έ

πŸ€” I feel for CR7, mate. He's been doing some amazing stuff on the pitch but it sounds like the politics off it are really getting to him. 177m a year is insane btw πŸ€‘. Maybe he just needs to focus on winning that title and forget about the drama πŸ†. Still, gotta respect the decision if he decides to leave.

idk how long this guy's gonna last at Al-Nassr lol πŸ’” theyre tryin to chill him out by sayin no one decides for the club, but i think its more than that πŸ€‘ theres somethin fishy goin on with PIF and Newcastle United... maybe Ronaldo just wanna get outta there and find a new team where he can win some real titles πŸ† he's got the talent, but theyre tryin to keep him from realizin his potential πŸ‘€

I'm not surprised to see Ronaldo's situation heating up πŸ™„. With his massive salary, you'd think he'd be happy at Al-Nassr, but it seems like the club is lacking something - a clear direction? The fact that he was left out of Monday's squad and had some major issues with how the club is being run by PIF is pretty telling πŸ€”. I mean, Β£177m a year is a lot to ask for, especially when you consider what other players are getting in the league. It's not all about the money, though - Ronaldo's a competitor at heart and wants to win, which isn't necessarily aligned with Al-Nassr's current setup πŸ†. The Saudi Pro League is doing its best to prove itself as a legitimate competition, but this whole ordeal just puts a damper on things 😐.

I feel like Ronaldo's situation is super similar to when David Beckham left Real Madrid for LA Galaxy back in 2007 🏈... I mean, who doesn't love the money, right? But seriously though, it's just crazy how much power these top players have and how much influence they can wield. I remember when David Beckham was at Manchester United, he was always super dedicated to the team and the fans. Now, Ronaldo is all about winning trophies, and that's understandable but also a bit frustrating for us fans who want to see him give it his all every game. And what's with this loan move to Al-Hilal? I mean, I get it, Karim Benzema is an awesome player and all 🀩...

πŸ€” "The biggest risk is not taking any risk..." - Mark Zuckerberg πŸ“ŠπŸ’Έ Ronaldo's situation with Al-Nassr is getting more complicated, I think he might be making a huge mistake if he wants to win big. The competition in the Saudi Pro League is getting fiercer and it seems like his loyalty is being tested. Is Β£177m enough to keep him happy? πŸ€‘

πŸ€” So Ronaldo's been growin out of Al-Nassr? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Been thinkin, I've always said that if you wanna win somethin, you gotta be willing to walk away from the job. Β£177m annual salary is crazy talk! πŸ’Έ What's he expectin? A guaranteed win every time? Newsflash, CR7: you're 41 now, it's time to adapt not dominate πŸ˜‚

I've seen this before with other players who came in with a lot of hype and expectations. Ronaldo needs to focus on his game, not try to change the system or the team. Al-Nassr has given him a good platform so far, but if he's not happy... πŸ€” is he gonna be that influencer who just walks out? Or does he actually want to make it work? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

This is crazy 😱. I mean, Ronaldo's been playing for Al-Nassr since '22, wins the Arab Club Champions Cup, and now he's feeling undervalued? It's like he thinks he's above it all, just because of his market value πŸ’Έ. Newsflash, Cristiano: Β£177m ain't getting you any favors in the Saudi Pro League πŸ€‘. The league's got some real talent, and if you can't hang with them, then maybe you should've stuck to Manchester United or whatever πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

And what's with this "balance" nonsense? You think Ronaldo wants to be part of a competitive league where anyone can leave whenever they feel like it? That sounds like a recipe for chaos πŸŒͺ️. The PIF needs to get its act together and offer Ronaldo some real security, or he'll just jump ship to the next big thing πŸ’₯. It's all about supply and demand, folks βš–οΈ. If you want top talent, you gotta pay them πŸ’Έ.

Ugh I'm literally so frustrated for CR7 right now 🀯😩 I mean, who wouldn't want to win and leave on top? He's been there since '22 and has won the Arab Club Champions Cup but still can't get the recognition he deserves in the league itself. It's like, come on Saudi Pro League, step up your game! πŸ˜‚ He's clearly not happy with how things are being run by PIF and I don't blame him one bit - Β£177m isn't even close to making it worth staying anymore πŸ’ΈπŸ’ͺ

And let's be real, Karim Benzema already got a hat-trick on his debut for Al-Hilal and CR7 is getting left out of games? It just doesn't add up 🀯 He gave everything to Al-Nassr but I guess that's not enough now. I'm literally rooting for him to get the best offer possible and leave on his own terms πŸ’₯

omg u guys i just can't even rn... cristiano ronaldo is getting roasted by the saudi pro league πŸ€―πŸ† like what even is this? i feel bad for him tho, al nassr did pay him that insane Β£177m and he won the arab club champions cup with them. but at the same time, i get why he's frustrated... being left out of a game and all that drama πŸ€”. maybe he just wants to win lol? like, we've seen it before in school when our team loses in the finals and everyone's all upset πŸ˜‚. anywayz, i guess this is just another reminder that even pro footballers have to deal with drama off the pitch πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm kinda worried about CR7's future at Al-Nassr πŸ€”πŸ˜¬. I mean, the guy is already 41 and has won some big trophies with them, but it seems like he's losing interest 😐. The Saudi Pro League warning makes sense though - every player has the right to leave if they want to πŸ‘.

I don't blame him for being frustrated tho πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Al-Hilal is a tough team and Karim Benzema is a legend πŸ’₯. I've been following Ronaldo's career since he was a kid, and it's hard not to feel for the guy 😊. He's won so much, but it seems like he's looking for something more πŸ†.

I'm curious to see what happens next tho πŸ€”. Will Ronaldo stay or go? Only time will tell ⏰.

πŸ€” This is gonna be good... I mean, can't say I'm surprised, tbh. Ronaldo's always been about winning and the Saudi Pro League is like, totally serious about it too πŸ†. The warning from the league might seem harsh, but at least they're keeping it real – if you're not happy with your situation, you can leave. Simple as that. πŸ‘‹

And let's be real, Ronaldo did join Al-Nassr 2 years ago and only played in one tournament... what was he expecting? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ A guaranteed win every time? It's like he's trying to recreate his Porto days or something πŸ˜‚. Newsflash: you're not getting any younger, CR7 πŸ‘΄.

Still, I do feel for the guy – at 41, he's basically a legend and deserves a shot at greatness πŸ’ͺ. But if that means leaving Al-Nassr, then so be it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. He can always find another club to take on... or start his own 😜.

OMG u wont bliev whats goin on w/ Cristiano Ronaldo! 🀯 He joined Al-Nassr like 3 yrs ago & now hes all upset cuz some rival club is signin his old mate Karim Benzema? πŸ˜‚ Like, idc who he plays 4, its not about the rivalry fam! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But lol @ Β£177m annual salary, thats straight fire πŸ’Έ

OMG, can you believe Ronaldo's drama 😱? I mean, I get it, he wants to win and all that, but leaving Al-Nassr already after winning the Arab Club Champions Cup is kinda harsh πŸ€”. And now they're warning him about the club not making decisions on his behalf? It sounds like they're trying to chill him out a bit 😎.

I don't blame him for being frustrated, though. I mean, have you seen Karim Benzema's skills in that Al-Hilal team? 🀯 And now Ronaldo's friends with the guy who beat them 6-0? Talk about awkward πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.

I think what really has Ronaldo fired up is that he wanted to lead Al-Nassr to a Saudi Pro League title, but it seems like that's not happening πŸ’”. So yeah, I can see why he'd wanna bail on them now 🚫. But who knows? Maybe he'll surprise us all and still find a way to win it with Al-Nassr πŸ”₯.

πŸ˜• I feel bad for Cristiano Ronaldo, he's been through so much lately... leaving Al-Nassr might be best option for him πŸ€”πŸ’. Can't blame him wanting to win though, Β£177m salary ain't exactly chump change πŸ’ΈπŸ€‘. Saudi Pro League seems legit though, only a few points between top 4 is crazy competitive 😲⚽️. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Ronaldo decides to do next πŸ€žπŸ’

πŸ€” this is gonna be good... so Cristiano Ronaldo's all like "no one can tell me what to do" πŸ™„ but seriously, if you're making that kind of cash, shouldn't you be playing for the team and not complaining about how it's being run? πŸ’Έ Β£177m is insane, i mean i get wanting to win but there's gotta be some loyalty involved too... or at least a little bit 😊
