Darth Maul's standalone series premieres on Disney+ on April 6

Disney+ has announced that a standalone animated series centered around Darth Maul will debut on April 6, 2024. The show, titled 'Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord,' marks the first time the infamous Sith Lord has had his own spin-off series.

According to Lucasfilm, the 10-episode series follows Maul's plan to rebuild his underworld syndicate on a previously untouched planet. It's here that he encounters a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who becomes his potential apprentice in a quest for revenge.

The show is being developed by Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind 'The Clone Wars' and now the President and Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm. Filoni has taken the reins to create content that fits within the existing Star Wars universe, rather than introducing new characters or storylines.

This news comes as Disney+ continues to expand its Star Wars offerings. However, it's worth noting that other projects have faced delays and cancellations in recent years. The upcoming film 'Star Wars: Starfighter' is set to be released on May 28, 2027, marking the first new feature film in seven years.

Maul's standalone series will premiere with two episodes on April 6, followed by a steady stream of new episodes over the next few months. With Filoni at the helm and his experience in crafting compelling animated stories, 'Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord' is sure to be an exciting addition to the Disney+ lineup.

OMG u guys Darth Maul is finally gettin his own show 🀩 it's gonna be so sick! I'm low-key hyped for this Maul spin-off series 'Shadow Lord'. I mean, who wouldn't wanna see more of that intense and dark Sith Lord? And Filoni is the perfect dude to helm this project, he's proven himself with The Clone Wars and now he's goin all out on Star Wars πŸš€. With 10 episodes and a steady stream, we can bet it's gonna be an epic ride. I'm also intrigued by the idea of Maul rebuildin his underworld syndicate and meetin new characters like that disillusioned young Jedi Padawan πŸ€–. Can't wait for April 6th! πŸ˜†

πŸ€” I'm kinda hyped about this Darth Maul show... I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of that crazy guy? 😎 But what's up with all these new Star Wars projects on Disney+ lately? It feels like they're just churning out shows and films left and right. I remember when 'The Mandalorian' first came out, everyone was so stoked, but now it's just another series on the list... still, if Dave Filoni is behind it, I trust him to make it worth watching πŸ™

OMG 😱, another franchise taking over our lives! Darth Maul getting his own show πŸ€–, I mean who needs new original content when we've got Sith Lords right? And it's not like we haven't seen enough of these galaxy-spanning battles already βš”οΈ. Can we just have a break from Star Wars for one second? πŸ™„ Anyway, I guess Dave Filoni knows what he's doing since 'The Clone Wars' was pretty lit πŸ’₯, but 10 episodes is gonna feel like an eternity 😴. And that new film in 2027? Forget about it, we'll be lucky if they remember what the last one looked like πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Bring on the merch, I guess πŸ›οΈ

I'm stoked about this new project but I got some doubts about it πŸ€”. Darth Maul as a lead character? It's like they're playing with fire πŸ”₯. The guy's already pretty intimidating and complex, can he really carry a whole series? And what's the deal with the young Jedi Padawan? Is this gonna be another "Chosen One" story or something more interesting? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I also wonder if it'll be too much of Maul-centric storytelling. The guy had some pretty epic battles in 'Attack of the Clones' already, can we really go that deep without getting repetitive?

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda cool that Darth Maul is getting his own series πŸ€–. He's such a complex character and always had so much potential for more backstory. Dave Filoni is like a Star Wars genius, you know? He did an amazing job with The Clone Wars and now he's bringing this new series to life πŸ’«. I'm curious to see how the show will explore Maul’s character and his relationships with other characters in the Star Wars universe πŸ€”. Maybe it'll be more than just a revenge story... who knows, maybe we'll get some redemption for him 😊.

I'm thinking this show's gonna be lit πŸ”₯ Maul's got a lot of potential for drama & action! 10 episodes should give us a good chunk of story to sink our teeth into. Dave Filoni's on fire πŸ’ͺ with 'The Clone Wars', I trust he'll do the same justice here. But, you know, can't help but wonder about other Star Wars projects that've been delayed or cancelled... it feels like we're getting more scraps instead of full-course meals 🍴 Does anyone else think Disney+ is spreading themselves too thin with all these Star Wars shows?

Maul's getting his own show πŸ€–... about time, right? 10 episodes ain't much but I guess that's a good starting point. Filoni's behind it so gotta expect something decent. Wonder if they'll keep Maul from being too one-dimensional this time 'round. Don't wanna see our boy get typecast as "the cool villain" 🀣

Man I'm so down for this 😎! Darth Maul as a standalone series? That's like, totally awesome! I mean, who wouldn't want to watch some intense Sith Lord drama on Disney+ 🀯. And Dave Filoni is the perfect guy to helm this project - his experience with The Clone Wars is top-notch, and I trust him to keep it within the Star Wars universe πŸ™.

But, you know what's even crazier? We haven't had a new feature film in seven years πŸŽ₯. 'Star Wars: Starfighter' better be worth the wait! And now we're getting a standalone series? It feels like Disney+ is trying to make up for lost time πŸ•°οΈ.

I'm hyped for 'Maul - Shadow Lord' and I hope it's as good as The Clone Wars πŸ’₯. Let's just hope they don't mess this one up! Fingers crossed 🀞

πŸ€” This news about Darth Maul's animated series has me kinda hyped πŸŽ‰! I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of that iconic purple dude in action? 😈 It's interesting that it's being handled by Dave Filoni, he's got a great track record with shows like The Clone Wars. But at the same time, I'm not sure if we really need another Star Wars spin-off πŸ€”. I mean, aren't we already oversaturated with those? Still, I guess if anyone can make it work, it's Filoni πŸ‘. And hey, a new series means more Mandalorian-style action and epic battles to look forward to πŸ’₯!

OMG u guys!! I am literally SHAKING with excitement about this news!!! Darth Maul getting his own show?!?! It's like a dream come true for us Star Wars fans!!! 🀯 I mean, we've seen him in the Clone Wars and Rebels, but now he's finally getting his moment to shine! Dave Filoni is such a genius behind the scenes, I know he's gonna make this show EPIC!!! And Maul's character, oh man... he's so complex and intriguing, I'm already imagining all the dark side drama πŸ•·οΈ Can't wait for April 6th to roll around and get my fix of Sith Lord goodness! πŸ’₯

omg can't believe they're finally giving maul his own show!!! 🀯 he's been waiting way too long! i'm hyped for this, especially since filoni is on board - dude knows how to bring characters to life. i've always had a soft spot for maul and his tragic backstory, so i'm stoked that they're exploring his underworld syndicate in more depth. the idea of him recruiting a disillusioned young jedi padawan is super intriguing, too! let's just hope it doesn't get stuck in space like some other star wars shows 🚫

Darth Maul getting his own show πŸ€” I'm kinda hyped about this! The guy's always been a fascinating villain, and having him as the main character in a standalone series could lead to some really interesting storylines. I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of that red and black lightsaber combo? 😎 Filoni's expertise with animation is definitely gonna shine through here, and I'm excited to see how he's gonna bring Maul's complex personality to life. Plus, the idea of him taking on a young Jedi Padawan as an apprentice could create some awesome conflicts. Bring it on! πŸ’ͺ

I'm low-key excited about this new series, but let's get real, it's a risk for Lucasfilm to give Darth Maul his own show. I mean, have they considered what this means for the Star Wars universe as a whole? Are we gonna see more Sith Lords getting their own spin-offs? It feels like they're trying to create a mini-Sith Empire or something 🀯

And let's not forget about the young Jedi Padawan character - are they trying to make up for the lack of female representation in other Star Wars shows? I'm all for it, but we need more nuanced storytelling here. We can't just have Maul's backstory be the focus of an entire series without exploring the implications on the galaxy πŸš€

It's also interesting that Dave Filoni is at the helm - he's got a good track record with The Clone Wars, but I'm not sure if this show will live up to his previous work. Only time will tell, but I'm gonna keep an eye on this one πŸ‘€

πŸš€ OMG, I'm SOOO down for a whole season of Darth Maul!!! 🀯 He's literally the coolest villain in the Star Wars universe! And can we talk about how amazing it is that Dave Filoni is bringing this series to life? πŸ™Œ The man knows his stuff when it comes to crafting epic animated stories. I'm loving that the show will have a strong focus on Maul's underworld syndicate and his quest for revenge. It's gonna be so interesting to see him interact with that disillusioned young Jedi Padawan! 😎 Can't wait to dive in on April 6, just gotta mark my calendar ASAP! πŸ“…
