Diane Keaton’s ‘Baby Boom’ Sets Reboot From Michael Showalter at Amazon MGM

Amazon MGM is reviving the beloved '80s comedy "Baby Boom" with a new take, set to star Diane Keaton's iconic character in a bold reimagining. The original film, directed by Charles Shyer and starring Keaton as a driven career woman saddled with an unexpected infant, showcased her comedic prowess.

The new version, helmed by director Michael Showalter ("Hello, My Name is Doris"), promises to put a fresh spin on the classic story. With producers Stacey Sher, Jordana Mollick, and Katie Aquino on board, the project is being overseen by Semi-Formal Productions and Shiny Penny.

Showalter has proven his romantic comedy chops with "The Idea of You," which became Prime Video's most successful debut, starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine. His upcoming film, "Oh. What. Fun.", set to premiere on December 3, 2025, features Michelle Pfeiffer and Felicity Jones.

Sherry is known for his work with acclaimed directors like Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh, which speaks to the potential impact of this new take on the classic comedy. The project marks a multi-year first-look deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Semi-Formal Productions.

🤔 I'm all about reviving old faves and putting a fresh spin on them! I loved Diane Keaton in the original "Baby Boom" and it's exciting to see her iconic character get reimagined for a new gen 🎬. Michael Showalter seems like a genius behind the lens with his track record of creating hilarious rom-coms 💁‍♀️. Can't wait to see how he puts his own twist on this classic story! 👀

I'm so down for another comedy revival. I mean, who doesn't love a good "80s feel-good" movie? 🎥 Diane Keaton is an icon and it's amazing they're reviving her character in a fresh way. The new director Michael Showalter seems like he knows his stuff too, I loved him in "The Idea of You". And with the producers on board, I'm expecting big things from this one. It would be awesome if they kept the original spirit but added some modern twists to make it even funnier. Plus, can we talk about how cool is it that Michelle Pfeiffer and Felicity Jones are in his next film? 🤩

I'm so down for this one 🤩! A fresh spin on "Baby Boom" could be amazing, especially with Diane Keaton's iconic character at the center. I love that they're putting a new spin on it, maybe exploring different themes or perspectives 🔄. With Michael Showalter at the helm, who's proven their romantic comedy chops, I'm expecting something hilarious and heartwarming ❤️.

I'd love to see how they'll reimagine the story, especially with the character's unexpected pregnancy 😂. Will they keep the same tone as the original or take it in a different direction? Either way, I'm here for it 🎥! It's also awesome that they're partnering with Semi-Formal Productions and Shiny Penny, who seem like a great team to bring this project to life 💪.

Can't wait to see how it all comes together and what kind of magic Showalter will work his charm on the screen ✨!

Just watched that trailer for the new "Baby Boom" remake 🤣. I'm all for a fresh spin, but honestly, can't we just leave some classics alone? 🙅‍♀️ Diane Keaton's character was iconic for a reason, and I don't know if anyone else can pull off that same energy 😒. That being said, Michael Showalter has shown his rom-com skills with Anne Hathaway in "The Idea of You", so fingers crossed he'll bring the laughs 🤣. And yay for more female-led projects! 💪

idk about this "Baby Boom" revival 🤔...like, don't get me wrong, Diane Keaton is iconic, but can we really revive something from '80s that's already been done well? it feels like they're trying to cash in on nostalgia rather than actually bringing anything new to the table. and what's up with this reimagining thing? are they gonna keep the original's heart or just try to make it more "cool" for a new gen? 🤷‍♀️

I'm so excited about this! I've always loved Diane Keaton in "Baby Boom" 🤣, she's just so funny and relatable. I think reviving the classic comedy with a new spin is a great idea - it's like they're giving us a fresh cup of coffee ☕️ to enjoy all over again.

I'm also intrigued by Michael Showalter at the helm - he seems like someone who can bring a modern twist to the story while still staying true to its roots. And let's be real, with the production team he has on board, I have no doubt it's going to be a hit 🎉!

It's always thrilling to see old favorites get a new lease on life, and this one sounds like it's shaping up to be a real treat for fans of '80s comedy. Bring on the laughs and tears - I'm ready! 😊

I'm thinkin' that reviving a classic like "Baby Boom" is a good idea 💡. I mean, who doesn't love Diane Keaton's character in the original? It's like bringin' back an old friend 🤗. The new director, Michael Showalter, has shown he can handle rom-coms with his last film doin' so well on Prime Video 📺. I'm curious to see how they'll put a fresh spin on it though. Will it be too different or will it still feel like the original? 🤔

OMG 💖 I'm SO stoked about this revival!! 🤩 Diane Keaton is literally a comedic goddess and I can already imagine how amazing she'll be in this new take 😍🎉 The original "Baby Boom" is such an iconic film and I have no doubt that Michael Showalter will bring a fresh spin to the story 🌈💡 Can't wait to see what he does with it! 💖
