Disney announces Josh D’Amaro will be its new CEO after Iger departs

Disney Unveils New CEO Amidst Shifting Landscape

In a unanimous decision, Disney's board of directors has selected Josh D'Amaro as the company's new chief executive officer (CEO), effective in March. This marks a significant shift for Disney, following Bob Iger's departure from the role after a decade-long tenure.

D'Amaro, who has been with Disney for an impressive 28 years, brings a wealth of experience to the position. He will oversee the company's theme parks, cruises, and consumer products division, including video games. This extensive background in driving business growth and operational success is likely to serve him well in his new role.

Interestingly, Disney's search for Iger's successor was not an easy task. Following a brief tenure under Bob Chapek, who took the reins after Iger's initial departure in 2020, it became clear that Chapek's leadership style wasn't aligned with the company's long-term vision. Iger returned to the helm in 2022 to stabilize the organization and set the stage for a new era of growth.

Under Iger's guidance, Disney underwent significant transformations. The launch of the Disney+ streaming service marked a major milestone, while the acquisition of Hulu and 20th Century Fox further solidified the company's position as a media powerhouse.

As D'Amaro assumes the reins, he'll inherit a robust organization with diverse revenue streams. He will continue to build on Iger's successes while navigating the ever-changing landscape of the entertainment industry.

In related news, Bob Iger will remain on Disney's board of directors and serve as senior advisor until his retirement at year-end. With D'Amaro at the helm, the future looks bright for the iconic media giant.

I'm not sure about this new CEO thingy... 🤔 Don't get me wrong, Josh D'Amaro seems like a solid pick and all, but I think Disney's been stuck in a bit of a rut lately. Like, have you seen their latest movies? They're just not as lit as they used to be 🎥. And don't even get me started on their streaming service... it's still super laggy 📺. Iger knew how to shake things up and bring in some new blood (or in this case, new CEO), but now that he's stepping back, can D'Amaro really take the company to the next level? ⚖️ Time will tell, I guess 😐

omg is dis new ceo move a bit late in da game?? i mean bob iger was outta there for like 2 yrs & now they're just introducing his handpicked successor 🤔? dont get me wrong josh d'amaro seems like a solid guy, but i'm wondering if he's got the right dna to tackle dis complex industry... and what's up w/ bob chapek tho 🙄

I'm kinda stoked about Josh D'Amaro taking over as CEO 🎉. The guy's been with Disney for ages, like 28 years or something! He's gotta know all the ins and outs of the company. I mean, it's not like he can just come in here and try to change everything overnight, you feel? They've got a good thing going with Disney+, Hulu, and Fox, so I'm hoping he'll just build on that 💸. Plus, having Bob Iger as a board member is a big plus - he's still got some magic dust left up his sleeve 🔮. Let's see how this all plays out, but for now, I'm feeling pretty optimistic about Disney's future 🌞

🤔 So great to see a new face at the top of Disney, right? I mean, who needs stability and consistency when you can have another round of "new guy" trying to figure everything out 🙃. On the bright side, Josh D'Amaro has been with Disney for 28 years, so maybe that's like, a lot of experience or something 😂. The real question is, how will he fix all the messes Bob Iger left behind... or did he just get to keep everything 🤑?

Just got the news about Josh D'Amaro being the new CEO at Disney 🤩! 28 years with the company is insane, he must be a total Disney nerd 😂. The fact that it took them so long to find the right person after Chapek's stint is crazy though... but Iger's return was a game changer 💪. Now they're gonna build on that momentum and take Disney to new heights 🚀! And can we talk about how cool it is that Bob Iger gets to stay involved as a board member? 👍

I'm so hyped about Josh D'Amaro taking over as CEO! 🤩 He's been with Disney for ages, knows the ins and outs of the company, and has a proven track record of driving business growth. It's gonna be interesting to see how he balances all the different divisions - them parks, cruises, consumer products... it's like trying to juggle too many balls 🤹‍♀️. But with Iger's foundation in place, I'm sure D'Amaro will make some magic happen. Disney+ is still killing it, and if they keep innovating and adapting to the streaming landscape, they'll stay ahead of the curve. Fingers crossed for a bright future under D'Amaro's leadership! 🌞

omg i'm low-key hyped about Josh D'Amaro being the new CEO!!! 🤩 he's been with Disney for like forever and has so much experience under his belt... this dude knows how to get things done 💼🎢 i love that they're bringing someone in who's not just a one-trick pony, but actually has a solid track record of driving growth and success 💸👏 let's hope he can keep the magic alive for Disney+ 📺💻

idk why ppl r so hard on bob chapek lol he got a bad rap but i think he was trying to innovate & take risks 🤔. like, who else is gonna try to make disney+ happen? and lets be real, josh d'amaro's been with disney for 28 yrs, what does he know that bob didn't? 🤑. imo, its all about finding the right balance between old & new, not just one or the other 👌.

I'm low-key surprised they didn't go with someone from within the company, ya know? I mean, Bob Chapek got burned pretty quickly and it's like they're trying to avoid another 20-20 hindsight situation 🤔. But, Josh D'Amaro seems solid, all that Disney experience is gonna be key in navigating this whole streaming vs traditional media thingy...

I'm kinda stoked to see Josh D'Amaro taking over at Disney 🎉! I mean, 28 years with the company is crazy talk! He's gotta be super confident in his abilities to make such a huge jump like this. I remember when Bob Chapek came on board and it was like... meh 😐. But now that Iger's back, it feels like Disney's got its mojo back again 🔮. The Disney+ thing is gonna keep on killing it for sure! Who else is hyped for the new era of D'Amaro? 🤔

omg i cant even imagine disney without bob iger he was like the ultimate leader 🤯 anyway im so hyped for josh damaro to take over hes been with disney for ages and knows what makes the company tick i mean, who else can say theyve seen the rise of marvel movies and disney+ from the start? 💥 its gonna be interesting to see how he navigates the ever-changing entertainment industry 🤔

omg can't believe they actually found someone who's been around long enough to know what's going on 🤯 28 years is crazy!!! I'm kinda worried about how disney+ will keep growing with new leadership tho...what if it just gets lost in all the other streaming services? 📺😬

Im not sure about dis new CEO, Josh D'Amaro. He sounds like he's got some good experience under his belt, but Disney's been through so many changes already 🤔. I mean, what makes this guy think he can just jump in and fix everything? Bob Iger was good at navigating the company through tough times, and now he's back... maybe it's not a bad idea to have some continuity 😊.

Also, what's with all these theme park cruises and video games? I feel like Disney's trying to spread itself too thin. They should focus on making their core products better first 🎬. And don't even get me started on the streaming service... it's still got a long way to go before it becomes a real competitor to Netflix 💻.

I guess only time will tell if D'Amaro can live up to the hype and lead Disney back to greatness 👀.

🤔 this is like a full circle thing, bob iger was with disney for so long and now its gonna be josh d amaro who has been there even longer 🙃 idk if anyone can fill boigs shoes but i guess only time will tell 💸 maybe they should have just stayed on the same path instead of switching CEOs every few years lol what's up with all these changes 🤷‍♀️

I think it's awesome that Josh D'Amaro is taking over as CEO 💪! He's got a ton of experience under his belt and it'll be interesting to see how he shakes things up 👀. I mean, Disney's been through some changes recently with Bob Chapek leaving and then coming back, so it's clear they're looking for someone who can bring the company into a new era 🌊. And let's be real, having D'Amaro in charge means more of those epic Marvel movies are gonna happen 🎥! Also, I'm curious to see how he'll balance all the different aspects of Disney, from theme parks to streaming and merch 🤔...

I'm not sure what to make of this new CEO appointment 🤔. On one hand, Josh D'Amaro's 28 years of service to Disney can't be understated – he knows the company inside out. But on the other hand, it feels like Disney is trying to recapture the magic of Iger's era rather than embracing a new direction 🎢.

I mean, who wouldn't want to return to the good old days of Iger's leadership? The Disney+ launch was huge, and acquiring Hulu and Fox seemed like a masterstroke. But times are changing, and D'Amaro has some big shoes to fill 👣. Can he find a way to balance nostalgia with innovation? Only time will tell 🕰️.

One thing's for sure: it'll be interesting to see how this new CEO navigates the evolving media landscape 📺👀. Will Disney continue to thrive as a content creator, or will it struggle to adapt to changing consumer habits? Only the future (and D'Amaro himself) will tell 💥
