Dodgers linked to $11.5 million All-Star in potential blockbuster trade

Dodgers Eyeing $11.5 Million Slugger in Potential Blockbuster Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers are seeking to bolster their roster depth ahead of another World Series push, with the team needing help in various areas including the outfield and bullpen. With a strong lineup already, adding new position players could provide an added boost.

One potential target for the Dodgers is Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe, who has shown impressive power numbers, hitting 31 home runs last season at just 31 years old. Given that Lowe still has one year left on his deal with the Rays, he represents a rental opportunity that could help in the immediate future.

Lowe's advanced metrics place him above the 75th percentile in several categories, including xSLG and average exit velocity, indicating a strong hitter. However, he struggles defensively, making the Dodgers' decision to acquire him solely for his hitting abilities clear.

The Dodgers will also be without utility player Kike Hernandez at the start of the season due to shoulder surgery, further highlighting their need for depth in key positions. While Miguel Rojas is expected to re-sign at second base, the limited depth in the infield could result in a move for an infielder like Lowe.

A potential trade price tag for Lowe would likely be reasonable given his value as a one-year rental with a club option for 2026. As Fray of Dodgers Nation noted, "Tampa recently picked up a club option for the 2026 season," making it unlikely that the package to acquire him would be overly expensive.

The Dodgers' pursuit of Lowe highlights their willingness to invest in key position players to bolster their roster depth and increase their chances of securing another World Series title.

🤔 I'm telling ya, something fishy is going on here... the Dodgers are basically buying a player for next year's playoffs. They know they've got some solid guys already and they're just trying to get an extra boost without breaking the bank. It's like they're trying to manipulate the system 🤑. And what's with Brandon Lowe? He's only 31, still in his prime, but he's already struggling defensively... something fishy about that too 🤷‍♂️. I mean, why wouldn't he just be a full-time second baseman? It's all about control and making the most of their money 💸. Don't get me wrong, the Dodgers are a great team, but there's gotta be more to it than just trying to win another World Series 🏆

omg, i think this trade is gonna be HUGE for the dodgers!!! they really need some serious depth in the outfield & bullpen... Brandon Lowe would be an AMAZING addition 🤩, especially with his crazy power numbers (31 home runs?! 😲) and those advanced metrics showing he's above 75th percentile in so many categories 📊. plus, with Kike out for a bit, they really need some backup infielder action... this trade would be a NO-BRRAINER 💪!

idk how much i'd wanna give up for a 1-year rental, even if he's got crazy stats lol 💸🤔... seems like the dodgers r tryin' to fill some gaps in their lineup & bullpen, and Lowe might be just what they need 🌟. but at the same time, they gotta think about the future, too - like, what happens when his contract runs out? 😬

omg u guys can u imagine the dodgers with brandon lowe on board 🤩 he's literally a beast at bat 💥 31 homers last season at 31 is insane! i think they should def get him tho, especially with kike out for the start of the season and miguel only signing for one more year 🤔 plus their bullpen could use some fresh blood 🔮 i'm thinking a package deal with some minor league players or maybe even a starter 💪 anyone else think this trade is gonna happen?? 🤑

omg u guys i cant even right now lol the dodgers r seriously considering trading for bradley lowe 🤯 like they need him so bad rn and its not just bc he's a power hitter although that does sound pretty dope 😎 idk about their decision to only get him for his hitting tho like doesnt that kinda suck? anyway i heard kike hernandez is out 4 the season with shoulder surgery wut a bummer 🤕 so yeah i guess its no wonder the dodgers r looking 2 add more depth 2 their roster esp in the infield 🔄 i think its pretty reasonable to expect a trade price tag of like $11.5 million or less tho idk if thats really what they're gonna go 4 tho 💸

I don't get why they can't just add some depth with free agents? It's not like they need a superstar, but rather someone who can fill a specific role 🤷‍♂️. And $11.5 million for one year seems steep to me... I mean, what if he doesn't even make it past the trade deadline? 💸. I'm also worried about how this will impact their farm system 🌾. They should be focusing on developing young players instead of throwing money at a temporary solution 🤦‍♂️. And don't even get me started on Kike's surgery... that's just a nightmare 😩.

OMG, like, Brandon Lowe is literally the answer to all the Dodgers' problems 🤷‍♀️... or so I'm told 😂. Seriously though, 11.5 million bucks seems kinda steep for a one-year rental, especially considering they already have some solid depth at second base (cough, Miguel Rojas, cough). But hey, if they think he's worth it, who am I to argue? 🤑 It's not like Lowe is just a great hitter or anything... his defense leaves a lot to be desired 😳. And let's be real, the Dodgers are always looking for an edge, right? 💪 They'll probably pay whatever it takes to bring home that World Series title 🏆.
