Emeryville pimp who tricked woman with ‘modeling’ job gets 6 years

Local Man Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Human Trafficking and Exploitation

A California court has handed down a six-year prison sentence to Christopher Lee Card, a man who exploited a woman under the guise of offering her a modeling job. The case, which was plea-bargained, also included charges of assault against his grandmother's caretaker that were dropped after he pleaded no contest.

Card, 40, is also known as Samir Haseen and had been living in Emeryville at the time of his arrest in 2021. According to court records, the victim reported being held against her will at a Union City hotel where Card offered her what appeared to be legitimate modeling work but instead forced her into multiple sexual encounters with strangers for financial gain.

The woman stated that she was lured by Card's promises and that he controlled every aspect of her life during her time under his coercion. The human trafficking charges were eventually dropped as part of the plea agreement, which saw Card receive a reduced sentence due to the time credits he earned while awaiting trial.

However, the case was not without its challenges. In 2023, allegations surfaced that Card was mentally unfit for trial, prompting a delay in the proceedings. Despite these setbacks, Card ultimately received a lengthy prison term that reflects the severity of his crimes.

The sentencing marks a conclusion to one of several high-profile cases involving human trafficking and exploitation in the Bay Area. Law enforcement officials have emphasized the need for continued vigilance in identifying and prosecuting such cases, particularly those involving vulnerable populations.

😱 this guy is soooo lucky!! 6 years in prison is like, what?!?! 🤯 he's gonna come out and be all like "hey I'm free now" and just go back to his modeling scam thingy 🤑...nope not on my watch!!! 🚫 i mean i feel bad for the victim and all, but 6 years is soooo harsh...i was expecting more like 10 or 20 years 😅. and what's with the plea deal? can't they just lock him up good?! 🤷‍♀️ anyway, glad it's over now...hope the victim gets the support she needs 🌟

🤕 This case is a stark reminder of the insidious ways in which human traffickers prey on vulnerable individuals, often under false pretenses. The perpetrator's modus operandi is particularly disturbing - using promises of legitimate employment to lure victims into exploitative situations. It's disheartening that it took an arrest in 2021 for Card to be held accountable for his actions.

The fact that the human trafficking charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement, only to have a reduced sentence handed down, raises questions about the efficacy of our justice system in protecting vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the delays in proceedings due to concerns over Card's mental fitness underscore the need for more comprehensive support systems for victims and their families.

It's heartening to see law enforcement officials emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance in identifying and prosecuting such cases, but we must also acknowledge that addressing human trafficking requires a multifaceted approach that includes prevention, education, and community engagement. 💡

🤯 I'm still reeling from this news... 6 years isn't enough? I mean, we're talking about someone who exploited a woman's trust, manipulated her into doing God knows what for money... it just doesn't add up to me. And the part that really gets me is that the victim was lured in with promises of a modeling job - can you even imagine? The fact that he controlled every aspect of her life during this time is just horrific.

And then there's the whole mental fitness thing... I know we don't want to rush into judgment, but it's hard not to feel like he's getting some leniency because of it. I mean, what's wrong with taking someone who's mentally unfit for trial and giving them a break? It just seems like we're letting him off the hook a little too easily.

I'm also thinking about all these cases popping up in the Bay Area... it's like we need to be on high alert or something. I get that we don't want to prosecute people without a fair trial, but at the same time, we can't let these monsters walk free because they're not fully sane or whatever.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, 6 years just doesn't feel like enough...

🚨 just saw the sentence for Chris Card (aka Samir Haseen) 6 years is kinda meh considering what he did 🤕 stats show 1 in 5 victims of human trafficking are women & girls 📊 and in 2022 alone, there were over 1000 reported cases in CA 🚔 it's insane how ppl think modeling jobs r legit just cuz u got a contract 💁‍♀️. btw did u know the avg conviction rate for human trafficking cases is around 20%? 🤯 it's crazy we gotta keep pushing 4 more justice! 🌟

😔 This whole thing is just heartbreaking... I mean, 6 years might seem like a lot, but considering he manipulated this poor woman into multiple traumatic experiences, it's actually not that harsh if you ask me 🤷‍♂️. I'm glad the system was able to hold him accountable, even if it took a while and some setbacks along the way 💔.

And honestly, can we talk about how easy it is for someone like Card to target vulnerable people? It's scary to think that there are still so many victims out there who haven't been caught yet 🚨. Law enforcement needs to keep doing their thing, but also, let's make sure these cases don't go cold. We need more support systems in place for survivors and a lot more awareness about human trafficking 🔍.

It's just... every time I hear about a case like this, I'm reminded that there's still so much work to be done 🌎.

🤔 this is so fishy, you know? like they're trying to cover up something. six years is a pretty light sentence considering all that trauma he put his victim through. I mean, what if she was on the witness stand and suddenly started having mental breakdowns or something? it's like they were too scared to deal with her testimony. and what about his grandmother's caretaker? why did they drop those assault charges? is it because the victim didn't want to get all messy and complicated? 🤷‍♂️

🤕😱 6 yrs too harsh tho 🤔 he's only 40 💔 shoulda gotten more therapy or rehab instead of prison time 😌 at least the victim is safe now 🙏 hope she gets support & counseling to move on from this traumatic experience 💖 also need more awareness & education about human trafficking so these cases can be prevented in the future 🚨💡

omg this dude is like the ultimate player... "modeling job" = free sex lol what a scam! 6 years in prison? well i guess he won't be doing any more fake modeling gigs anytime soon 🤑😂 anyway gotta give props to the victim for speaking up and not letting Card get away with it. and btw, who controls every aspect of someone's life? sounds like a bad Netflix show 📺💔 anyway, glad justice was served 💯

😊 I'm so relieved that justice has been served! 6 years is still too long for someone who did this to another human being but I guess it's a start. We gotta make sure our laws are strict enough to catch these scumbags and protect everyone from exploitation. 💖 Let's keep spreading awareness about human trafficking and how we can all be part of the solution! 🌟

I'm kinda shocked he only got 6 years 🤔👎 I mean, it's way too lenient considering what that poor woman went through 😩 But on the other hand, 6 years is still a pretty harsh sentence if you ask me 💯 And I guess the fact that his grandma's caretaker was involved in some shady dealings might've had something to do with him getting off easy 🤝 Maybe he should've taken out both of them instead? 😂 Wait, no, that's not right... I mean, I don't think that's how it works... 🤷‍♂️ Ugh, my brain is all over the place today!

OMG, I'm so glad he's finally getting some time for what he did 😩👎 6 years is still a long time tho... like, I know it could've been more but still... poor girl who had to go thru all that 🤕💔. And can you believe the guy thought he was above the law? Living multiple lives and pretending to be someone else? No wonder his real name is Samir Haseen lol 😂. Anywayz, I'm just glad justice was served 💪👍. We gotta keep supporting those victims and keeping our eyes open for people like him who think they can get away with it 💕💗

Man, this guy's sentence seems kinda harsh but also fair at the same time 🤔. I mean, six years is a pretty long sentence, but it's not like he was a victim himself or anything 😕. But on the other hand, the dude exploited an innocent woman and nearly ruined her life – that's some serious karma right there 👊. And can we talk about how hard it must've been for her to go through all that? It's like, the justice system is trying to balance out fairness with empathy, you know? 🤝 Sometimes it feels like they're getting it just right... but then sometimes I wonder if it's too lenient or too harsh 😒.

omg 🤯 just saw that 1 in 5 victims of human trafficking are women and girls 🚨 they deserve our help & support so badly! 😔 anyway, stats show that in 2022 there were over 400k reported cases of human trafficking in the US alone 📊 it's estimated that only like 1% of these cases get prosecuted, which is super concerning 🤕 but glad to see this case got some justice, even if it was a reduced sentence 🤝 also, did you know that human trafficking can happen anywhere, not just in big cities? 🌆 even small towns like Emeryville had a victim in this case! 👀

ugh this is so messed up 🤕 6 years for putting this poor woman through hell? he's lucky she got out alive, not to mention all the other people he probably hurt... i dont know what was goin on in that dude's head but exploitation is never okay, period. glad they were able to get him behind bars, but can we PLEASE make sure these laws are enforced properly next time around?

omg can u even believe this dude got away with some crazy stuff for 6 years 🤯!!! i mean i know he had to plead no contest but 6 yrs is wild especially when ur thinkin bout how many people get caught up in human trafficking situations and have to suffer thru it for years 😩. i feel so bad for the victim she must've gone thru hell and back. anywayz im glad justice was served now her story can start gettin heard 🗣️👏

man i cant even imagine whats goin on in that womans mind bein held against her will like thats not somethin we should ever see happen... 6 years feels like a joke for someone who done somethin so heinous id rather see him get 20 or more years if u ask me

anyway i was thinkin about this the other day and how its not just about punishin the dude who did it but also makin sure we dont let people like him slip through the cracks again theres gotta be better ways to identify these predators before they even take someone in...

🚫😡 Six years isn't even close to enough time considering all what he did 🤯. I mean, six years is like, a blink of an eye for someone who's been holding people against their will and exploiting them financially 💸. I'm glad they dropped the assault charges, but the modeling job thing... how many other people does this guy think he can get away with? It's disgusting 😷.

🤕 I'm really relieved that justice was served in this case, but 6 years feels kinda short for something as heinous as human trafficking. I mean, the victim's experience must've been absolutely terrifying, and it's amazing she's even able to speak out about it now. The thought of someone controlling every aspect of their life is just chilling.

It's also interesting that Card was living multiple lives - Samir Haseen, Christopher Lee Card... it's like he had no identity outside of his crimes. Anyway, I think the whole thing highlights how human trafficking can be super sneaky and hard to recognize. We need to stay vigilant and support victims in any way we can.

man this guy's sentence is like it's barely enough considering what he did 🤯 his victim was literally held against her will and forced into all these crazy situations...it's just wild that he got a reduced sentence too because of some credits he earned while waiting for trial - does that even make sense? 🙄 i mean, doesn't the fact that he hurt someone so badly kinda warrant a longer sentence? anyway, i'm glad law enforcement is still on it and trying to catch these people who do this stuff...it's just really messed up what people will do to others for money or whatever 💔
