F1 Academy: Doriane Pin wins 2025 title in Las Vegas as Mercedes driver beats Ferrari's Maya Weug to title

Doriane Pin secures 2025 F1 Academy championship title in dominant fashion.

In a season-long battle for supremacy, French driver Doriane Pin emerged victorious to claim her maiden F1 Academy championship. With a decisive win in the final race of the season in Las Vegas, Pin secured the result she needed to beat rival Maya Weug to the top spot on the podium.

The 21-year-old Frenchwoman's title triumph was sealed when Weug crashed out of second place during the formation lap of the final race, paving the way for Alisha Palmowski to take third and Chloe Chambers to claim victory from pole. Pin herself dropped to fifth in the end but it didn't matter as she had already built a 15-point gap over Weug in the standings.

Pin's championship win marked her first major title in the F1 Academy series, following in the footsteps of Marta Garcia in 2023 and Abbi Pulling in 2024. Despite finishing second to Pulling last season, Pin has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in single-seater racing.

The Mercedes-backed driver credited her team for their hard work and dedication, saying "I worked so hard for this with the team... We worked only to be champion, so really happy to work with them to achieve amazing things together." Pin also extended her gratitude to her family, including her dad, and Iron Dames, a support team that has been instrumental in her success.

Mercedes' Toto Wolff was among those to congratulate Pin on her championship win, as were F1 president Stefano Domenicali. With the title now secured, Prema, Pin's outfit for this season, also clinched their third consecutive teams' title with a strong performance in the first race of the final round.
