I think its kinda weird how they built this news site from scratch . like, why make everything from scratch when u can use some existing templates right? still, good job on the responsive design tho , makes sense that they used javascript for all that interactive stuff ️. customization options are pretty cool too, especially with those placeholders , hope they end up using it to make something even better .
