Fast-casual chain Sweetgreen readies first Detroit location - Detroit Metro Times

Sweetgreen, a fast-casual restaurant chain known for its fresh salads and bowls, is set to open its first Detroit location in the heart of downtown, at One Campus Martius building. The new store will be the sixth location in Michigan.

According to Chris Tarrant, Chief Development Officer at Sweetgreen, "Detroit has an undeniable momentum right now, and we’re honored to be part of it." This statement reflects the company's enthusiasm about being a part of Detroit's thriving scene, where they plan to bring their unique take on fresh, real food to the community.

Sweetgreen's commitment to using local suppliers is also evident in their partnership with regional businesses such as Zingerman’s Creamery and Riverridge Produce. This approach not only supports the local economy but also contributes to a more sustainable food system.

The restaurant's grand opening will be celebrated on December 9th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring local flavors, including sweets from Bon Bon Bon, warm drinks by Earthy Botanical Mobile Bar, and live screen printing services courtesy of One Custom City.

To give back to the community, Sweetgreen has pledged to donate one meal to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity for every meal purchased during its grand opening. This gesture highlights the company's dedication to making a positive impact in the city they are now calling home.

The new store is located at 1020 Woodward Ave., Detroit, and marks an exciting addition to the city's vibrant dining scene. With Sweetgreen's arrival, locals can expect to enjoy high-quality, fresh food options while supporting local businesses.

I'm stoked to see more healthy food options popping up in downtown Detroit! 🀩 As someone who's grown up with the struggles of gentrification and limited job opportunities, it's awesome to see a major brand like Sweetgreen invest in our city. Their commitment to using local suppliers is a big deal – it shows they're willing to put their money where their mouth is (or should I say, where their salad bowl is?) πŸ’Έ

But what really gets me is the fact that they're not just stopping at supporting local businesses, they're also giving back to the community. Donating one meal to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity for every meal purchased during their grand opening? That's some next-level corporate social responsibility right there πŸ™Œ.

It'll be interesting to see how this new location shakes up the food scene in Detroit and whether or not it can stay true to its roots while still bringing in a fresh crowd. Either way, I'm excited to give Sweetgreen a try and support their efforts! πŸ‘

But what really gets me excited is their commitment to using local suppliers - it's about time we saw more businesses supporting our own community. And let's be real, partnering with Zingerman's Creamery and Riverridge Produce is like, the ultimate Detroit nod. I'm also stoked they're donating a meal to Forgotten Harvest charity for every meal sold during their grand opening - talk about giving back! They should totally offer vegan options, tho... all these new health-conscious spots are like, so on-trend now. And can't wait to check out that live screen printing service and get my sweet treats from Bon Bon Bon πŸ˜‹. One thing though - why not have an UberEats option? It's 2025, after all! πŸ˜‰
