First trains to join Manchester's Bee Network by end of 2026

Manchester is set to become a city where journeys are seamless and hassle-free with the expansion of its Bee Network transport system. By the end of 2026, the first passenger trains will join the network, marking a significant step towards creating the UK's first fully integrated public transport system outside London.

The regional mayor Andy Burnham unveiled a Northern train bearing the yellow Bee Network branding, which is set to link two central Manchester lines - Glossop and Stalybridge - with contactless travel and capped fares across all forms of transport, including buses and trams. Passengers will soon be able to tap in and out at 17 railway stations by the end of next year.

This ambitious project is part of a plan to make everyday journeys easier and create new opportunities for people across Greater Manchester. The Bee Network aims to unlock jobs, drive economic growth and support new homes in the region.

The transport system is set to offer better journey planning and real-time rail and disruption information on the TfGM and Bee Network website and apps. The move comes as part of a broader effort to reform local transport systems, giving local leaders more power and support.

omg i'm so hyped about manchester becoming fully integrated 🀩! i live in manchester and it's always been a nightmare trying to get around the city, but this bee network thing is literally going to change everything! like, imagine being able to tap your phone at one station and just knowing you're good to go anywhere else πŸš‚πŸ’». and capped fares? that's a game changer for me and my fam who are always on the go πŸ’Έ. i hope it also brings more jobs and opportunities to our city tho 🌟 i've been looking for a new job and fingers crossed this will make it easier to find one... anyway, can't wait to see this project come together in 2026 πŸŽ‰

omg i cant even 🀩! manchester is gonna be the hub of seamless travel! like, can u imagine getting on the train at glossop or stalybridge and having a hassle-free journey all the way to where ur goin? contactless travel and capped fares? yaaas, please bring it! i'm low-key excited for this 😎. and 17 railway stations? that's like, the ultimate travel experience! πŸš‚πŸ’¨ this bee network is gonna change the game for manchester and the whole north of england! let's get this hype train rolling πŸš‚πŸ”₯

I don’t usually comment but I think this project in Manchester sounds pretty cool 🀩! I mean, having a seamless and hassle-free journey system can make such a big difference in people's daily lives, you know? It's not just about getting from point A to point B, it's about the whole experience. And with contactless travel and capped fares, it's like they're trying to make public transport actually appealing 😊. I'm also loving the idea of unlocking jobs and supporting new homes in the region – that's some positive vibes right there 🌞!

just think about it 🀩 if they can make journeys so seamless in manchester, imagine what could happen if other cities in the uk try to follow suit! it's like they're setting a new standard for how public transport should be run πŸ’‘ and I love that they're thinking about the bigger picture too - jobs, growth, homes... it's all about creating a better quality of life for people in greater manchester 🌞

πŸš‚πŸ’¨ I think this is gonna be sick for Manchester commuters! Having contactless travel and capped fares across all modes of transport will definitely make the Bee Network more accessible and affordable. It's also dope that they're integrating buses and trams into the network - it'll make planning journeys a breeze! πŸ“² The idea of unlocking jobs and driving economic growth is a big plus too, as Greater Manchester needs all the boosters it can get 😊. Can't wait to see how this project unfolds and becomes a reality for the people of Manchester in 2026 πŸ‘

πŸš‚πŸ’¨ I'm all for this! Seamless travel is exactly what we need in our busy cities. I've had my fair share of frustrating commutes and it's about time Manchester gets its act together. Capped fares are a genius idea - who doesn't love saving money on their daily travels? πŸ€‘ It'll be so convenient to tap in and out at 17 stations, no more digging for change or queuing at ticket booths! The plan sounds like it'll really boost the local economy too, more jobs and homes created is always a good thing. And I'm all for giving local leaders more power to make decisions about transport systems - they know what's best for their communities. Bring on 2026 and let's make Manchester Bee Network a success! πŸŽ‰

ugh, think about it... this all sounds super great for Manchester, but what's in it for us regular folks? like, yeah, tap in and out at 17 stations is nice, but how much are those capped fares gonna cost?! i mean, they're still gonna rip you off somehow. and don't even get me started on the trains... first passenger trains in 2026... that's just a fancy way of saying "they'll probably be overcrowded and delayed". and what about the jobs it's supposed to unlock? are we really just gonna believe that local leaders have our best interests at heart? πŸ€‘πŸš‚

I'm still skeptical about this Bee Network thing πŸ€”. I mean, it sounds great in theory, but what's the catch? We're already dealing with crowded trains and roads, and now you're telling me that these new trains are gonna be contactless and all that jazz... but at what cost to our wallet, you know? Capped fares sound nice, but I've got a bad feeling they'll just keep raising prices like everything else.

And 17 railway stations in one year? That's just crazy talk! It sounds like they're trying to rush it out there and collect our data on a massive scale. I'm all for innovation, but sometimes you gotta slow down and think about the impact on everyday people.

OMG 😲 just read about the new Bee Network in Manchester! πŸš‚πŸŒŸ it's gonna be lit!!! πŸŽ‰ did u know that the UK is finally catching up with other cities like Tokyo & Seoul? 🀯 they're talkin' integrated public transport system by 2026! πŸ“† and capped fares across all modes of transport? πŸ’Έ genius! btw, have u seen the stats on commute times in Manchester? πŸ“Š it's like, 45% less travel time since 2019 πŸš¨πŸ’¨ and that's a straight result of investin' in public transport! πŸ€‘
