‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Director Breaks Down Those Post-Credit Scenes, [Spoiler]’s Death and What Fans Can Expect From a Third Movie

The Mysterious Case of William Afton's Return: Breaking Down the Plot Twists in 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2'

Emma Tammi, the mastermind behind both 'Five Nights at Freddy's' and its sequel, has revealed the secrets behind the film's post-credits scene. For fans of the horror franchise, it was a thrilling moment that left many questions unanswered - until now.

Spoiler alert: If you haven't seen the latest installment in the series, proceed with caution, as this article contains spoilers from 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2'.

The film's climax features Springtrap, the notorious animatronic from the game, booting up and taking control of a device. The implication is that William Afton, the co-founder of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and a main antagonist in the series, has now taken over Springtrap.

According to Tammi, the decision to bring back Afton was always part of the plan, even though he had been dragged off-screen at the end of the previous film. "We end Movie One with him being dragged off, and the idea was always that he would be teed up at the end of Movie Two for a third film," Tammi revealed.

Afton's return is also tied to the visions of his daughter Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail) in 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2.' The mid-credits scene showcases Afton's ghostly presence, which adds another layer of complexity to the already dense backstory.

However, just as fans thought they had caught a glimpse into Afton's new reality, Tammi dropped another bombshell. In an end-credits scene, grieving father Henry Emily (Skeet Ulrich) reveals that he was business partners with William at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and warns Mike (Josh Hutcherson) to avoid the Marionette, which has been taken over by his dead daughter's soul.

This twist is inspired by some of the game's tape recordings and serves as a tease for what's to come in the third installment. "It was a mishmash also of picking up the Marionette at the end, as it intersects with Henry, and certainly as he's reaching out to Mike," Tammi explained.

The upcoming film will not only delve deeper into Henry's backstory but also introduce the possibility of Ulrich and Lillard (Matthew Lillard) sharing screen time. The pair had a memorable role in 1996's 'Scream,' playing deadly duo posing as Ghostface.

"We all got so excited about it," Tammi said, referring to the reunion. "It was an across-the-board validation for how cool this was going to be, and how well-received that reunion was going to be."

Ultimately, the series' creator and director are proud of bringing audiences human stories alongside killer robots and lore. "I think our human characters are as important as our animatronic characters, and as important as the lore," Tammi said.

As fans eagerly await the next installment, one thing is certain: William Afton's return has set the stage for a thrilling ride ahead. With new clues and plot twists in store, it's clear that 'Five Nights at Freddy's 3' will be an event to remember.

omg u guys i just watched the latest five nights at freddy's movie and idk what to even think about it anymore 🤯 they brought back william afton and now everything is just so much more complicated 🙃 like emma tammi said that he was always meant to be part of the next movie but i didn't see it coming 😲 and then there's this whole thing with henry being business partners with william and it's just so dark and deep 🤕 and can we talk about the reunion between skeet ulrich and matthew lillard 🤩 i'm literally shaking thinking about how cool that is lol 🎥 anyway, i think the film is setting up for something huge in the next movie but idk what to expect yet 🤔

🤯 I mean, think about this... if William Afton is back in control of Springtrap, does that really change who he is? Or was it all just a show, a manipulation of the truth to keep people guessing? It's like, what's real and what's not? The line between good and evil gets so blurred. And then we got this twist with Henry Emily revealing his connection to Afton... it makes you wonder if anyone is really in control here. 🤔 Is it just a cycle of revenge and trauma that keeps repeating itself? We can't even trust our own memories anymore, right? It's like, what's the real story?

I'm still not loving the whole epilogue scene 🤯. I mean, come on, we just thought Afton was gone for good but then he shows up again and it's like Tammi forgot about the whole "being dragged off-screen" thing 😂. And what's with Henry being a business partner with Afton? It feels so convoluted 🤯. I also hate that they're teasing us with more of the same old plot twists instead of actually giving us some new insights 🙄. Can't wait to see where this all goes but not exactly hyped about it 😐.

dude I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing with William Afton... like he was dragged off-screen after the first movie and now he's back but it feels like we're just getting started. 🤯 i mean, the way Emma Tammi does these twists is like a puzzle in reverse, you gotta keep re-watching to get everything 😂

anyway, I think what's interesting is how they're tying this all together with the visions of Vanessa Shelly and Henry Emily's backstory... it's like we're getting closer to some dark secret that Afton's been hiding for years 🤫

omg can't believe William Afton came back from the dead 🤯 this whole thing is getting too deep for me... Emma Tammi dropping all these hints and still not giving us much to chew on 😒 what's going on with Henry Emily and Mike? Is it just a coincidence that Afton was business partners with his son or something? 🤔 gotta keep watching to find out

I think people are overreacting about this whole William Afton thing... Like, I get it, the guy's creepy and all, but is he really back from the dead? 🤔 It feels like a cop-out to me. The ending of the last movie was pretty ambiguous, so it's cool that Emma Tammi is revealing some secrets, but now we're just gonna find out more about Afton's past? Sounds like a bunch of setup for the next movie... and honestly, I'm not even sure if I want to see that. 🎥 The whole thing feels a bit contrived, if you ask me. And don't even get me started on the Marionette scene - it's just too much, if you know what I mean. 😳

🤔 so now we know why springtrap was acting all weird 🤖😳... I mean, the whole Afton returning thing is pretty mind blown 😲... like, what's next? Is mika gonna be all 'oh no I'm haunted by my dad's soul' 🕷️😱... and can we talk about how Henry Emily just gave Mike a free ticket to get killed 🚪💀... anywayz, its def got me hyped for the next movie 💥🎬

I'm so hyped about this 🤩! I mean, who wouldn't want to see more of William Afton's mysterious return? 😏 The way Emma Tammi tied everything together is pure genius 💡 - I love how it all makes sense now that the pieces are revealed. And that twist with Henry Emily and Mike?! Mind blown 🤯. Can you imagine Skeet Ulrich and Josh Hutcherson teaming up as those iconic Scream characters? 😆 It's like a dream come true for fans of horror movies! The fact that Tammi prioritizes human stories alongside the animatronics is so refreshing - it just goes to show how talented she is at weaving this intricate narrative. Bring on 'Five Nights at Freddy's 3' and all its thrilling surprises 🎥!
