A freight train's brakes failed in South Deering, sending four tanker cars off a set of tracks near 99th Street and Marquette Avenue. The Chicago Fire Department was quick to respond to the scene, with firefighters arriving shortly after the derailment.
According to preliminary reports, there is no indication that any of the tankers have leaked their contents, but it remains unclear what exactly they were carrying. Video footage captured by WGN-TV shows the tanker cars lying off the tracks and at least one on its side, while emergency crews can be seen on the scene.
Fortunately, the derailment did not disrupt service for Metra or Amtrak trains, which were unaffected by the incident. The Chicago Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

It's like they're asking to be in an accident or something. And the thought of those tanker cars lying on the side of the tracks is giving me chills. What if one of them did leak its contents and spilled all over the place? That would be a whole other level of disaster. I'm glad no one was hurt, but seriously, who's responsible for these types of accidents? And how do they even let this happen in the first place? The Fire Department is on it now, so fingers crossed they can figure out what went wrong and fix it ASAP.

they must've heard that train rumble and thought their world was over. can u imagine being like 10 feet away from a giant tanker car just lying there on its side? the footage is crazy, it looks like something out of a movie 
but at least no one got hurt which is literally the most important thing right now. im so glad those firefighters responded ASAP, they saved who knows how many lives that day. what were these tankers even carrying anyway? hopefully the fire department gets to the bottom of it and finds out soon. i just keep thinking about all those people on those trains that could've been affected by this and its giving me anxiety lol
