From shiveringly vivid Mahler to the eclectic Hermes Experiment: our top classical recordings of 2025

oh my gosh ๐Ÿ˜ i'm totally obsessed with classical music right now!!! i mean what's not to love about all that beautiful, soothing sound ๐ŸŒ™ the fact that these albums got five stars is like, a total win for me ๐ŸŽ‰ mahan esfahani's bach album is literally one of my faves too - have you guys listened to it? ๐Ÿคฉ and lachenmann's string quartets are just so emotive and perfect for when i need some relaxation ๐Ÿ˜Œ can't wait to check out the john wilson conducting Walton's music concert too!!! ๐Ÿ’ซ

ugh i'm so over these classical music reviews ๐Ÿ™„ they're always like "listen to this album, it's totally life-changing" and honestly who needs that much drama? ๐Ÿคฃ anyway, i do love bach's well-tempered clavier, mahan esfahani does a great job with the harpsichord sounds. but what's up with string quartets? they're just so... repetitive ๐Ÿ˜ด can't they mix it up a bit? and btw, john wilson's conducting skills are cool and all, but who needs a five-star review to tell me that? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg I'm so late to the party but I just saw this thread and I gotta say, I agree with the 5-star ratings on those two albums!!! Mahan Esfahani's Bach is like nothing short of magic ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ his interpretation is so nuanced and deep, it's like he's speaking a different language ๐Ÿคฏ and Lachenmann's string quartets are just masterclass composition - the way he weaves together complex rhythms and melodies is pure genius ๐Ÿ”ฅ I mean, I've listened to both of these albums at least 5 times each and still find new things to appreciate. anyone else discover them through this thread or was it a discovery from elsewhere? ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŽต just listened to Bach's Well Tempered Clavier on mahan esfahani's recording and it blew my mind ๐Ÿ˜ the way he brings out the nuances in bach's compositions is pure magic โœจ can't wait to dive into more of his stuff ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm so stoked about this news! ๐Ÿคฉ I mean, who doesn't love classical music? And these five-star reviews are like, totally awesome! The fact that Mahan Esfahani's Bach album is getting such rave reviews is no surprise to me - have you heard his playing on YouTube? It's insane! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

And Lachenmann's String Quartets/Quatuor Diotima is like the ultimate symphonic experience. I need to get my hands on a copy ASAP! ๐ŸŽต The way he weaves together these intricate sounds and emotions is just... wow. Did you know that this album has been getting a lot of attention from music enthusiasts on social media too? It's amazing how it's spreading the love for classical music! ๐Ÿ’ป
