Gerry Turner, the original 'Golden Bachelor,' has written a tell-all book about his experiences on the show and his life since leaving it behind. The book, titled "Golden Years: What I've Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV," offers Gerry's side of the story.
In the book, Gerry reveals that he thought Theresa Nist, the woman he fell in love with during the first season of the show, was innocently trying to be a good companion. However, he now claims that she had been manipulated by others to overshare and felt rehearsed when talking about their relationship.

I think its good that Gerry is being open about his side of things now, even if it caused some hurt in the process 
. Lana seems like a great match for him though, I'm happy she's standing by him 
. Theresa's statement does sound pretty sad tho, feeling trapped and empty before getting married... its not a good way to start a marriage

I think this whole situation is a big lesson in how relationships can be so messy and complicated. It's like, we all want to be the hero of our own love story, but sometimes the truth gets messy. Gerry thought he knew Theresa was being genuine, but it turns out she was struggling with her own feelings and circumstances too. And now that she's speaking up, I think we can see that there's a lot more to the story than what was shared publicly.
I mean, I've seen some pretty shady behavior from reality TV contestants in my time, but this takes the cake. Gerry might have his doubts about their relationship, but at least he was honest with himself... and now, apparently, not even that much anymore. 
He's kinda come out as the bad guy now, and I'm just over here thinking "what about you, Lana?" 
Did he really not learn anything from that whole experience? 
! I mean, can't they just keep to themselves for once? Gerry's book is like a big ol' mess, if you ask me. He's all like "I was so hurt" and "I didn't know what I had," but now he's out here sharing all these juicy details about Theresa...and it sounds like she wasn't exactly the innocent damsel in distress we thought she was 
. And poor Lana, getting dragged into all this because Gerry just can't seem to move on from his past mistakes. Can't a guy just have a happy ending for once?

. Lana seems nice, but is she ready for the drama that comes with being a Golden Bachelor wife? 
. I mean, who doesn't love a good tell-all book? I'm sure Gerry's memoir is totally not written to get sympathy votes or something 
. Poor Theresa is left looking like she was totally played and didn't even get a heads up about Gerry's book plans 
. But now I can see why Gerry was hesitant in the relationship... it's just so sad that their love story ended up being all drama 
, maybe she'll be able to bring some happiness into Gerry's life again

. But at the same time, I feel bad for Theresa – if she was feeling trapped and empty before their wedding, it must've been tough for her to see these stories come out now 
? Either way, I'm curious to see how this all plays out and what other surprises are in store for us

and now she's all upset about it... on the other hand, Lana Sutton seems like a nice girl and Gerry seems happy with their new engagement so I guess you could say karma's a good thing 
. And honestly, Lana Sutton seems like a nice person who might've helped him heal 
. Kudos to her for being understanding about the book deal. Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on this drama

It's not fair to Gerry to have his story told in such a harsh way... especially when he thought he was doing the right thing by sharing it.
