For a bike that's more dirt bike than electric bicycle, the GoTrax Mustang is surprisingly agile and easy to ride. It may look like it's more geared towards older riders or those who are looking for a simple commute, but in reality, it can handle pretty rough terrain without any issues.
The bike comes with a powerful 750-watt motor that makes quick work of even the steepest hills. It has five different levels of pedal assist to help reduce strain on your muscles while still providing a full-body workout. Plus, its front suspension system and wide tires make for a comfy ride, especially when navigating rougher terrain.
When it comes to controls, the bike features a full-color LCD display that shows everything from speed and battery life to pedal assist level and motor usage in real-time. It also has an open throttle feature for those times when you want to let the engine rev its own engines.
However, there are some downsides to this bike. The most significant is probably the lack of adjustment options for riders. GoTrax only offers one size with a fixed seat height that might not suit everyone - especially taller folks like me.
Another problem I had was navigating steeper inclines. A higher seat height would be nice, but it's too bad there isn't an option to get that on this bike either.
On the plus side, though, GoTrax makes up for some of these shortcomings with its affordability and a battery life of around 28 miles - plenty enough for daily commutes in my area.
