Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Samara Joy is set to release a brand-new album, and her smooth jazz sound is generating buzz among music enthusiasts. The 26-year-old singer, known for her scatting skills, has drawn comparisons to jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald.

In an exclusive interview, Joy revealed that she drew inspiration from iconic musicians such as Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington, who contributed significantly to the evolution of jazz. "I feel very honored and sometimes undeserving because of how new my relationship to their music was initially," she said. "I draw inspiration from them through the course of their lives."

Joy's new album, titled "Portrait," is a deliberate departure from her previous work, reflecting on themes of patience, staying true to oneself, and finding inner peace. One of the standout tracks, "Peace of Mind," showcases Joy's soulful voice and introspective songwriting.

After winning five Grammys, including Best New Artist, Joy is taking a bold new direction with her music. "This album taught me the importance of patience and not rushing to stay relevant or spark up a moment," she explained. "It just – it taught me to take my time and really wait until you have something you feel like you have to say."

Joy will perform live at the Arsht Center on February 12, marking her first show in Miami since releasing "Portrait." With her new album generating buzz and her unique sound captivating audiences, Samara Joy is poised for another triumphant career.

Ugh I'm so over how outdated our forum's video player is πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. Can't we just use YouTube like everyone else? I mean, I know the devs are trying to support creators and all that, but it's just so clunky. Every time I try to watch Samara Joy's new music vid here, it takes like 3 tries to get it to play... 🀯 And don't even get me started on how the comments section is still wonky 🚨. Just a minor rant from me πŸ˜’

idk what's so special about this samara joy girl lol just a jazz singer trying to follow old masters πŸ™„ but i guess it's nice that she's exploring different themes on her new album like patience and inner peace... maybe she can help us all chill out 😌 gotta admit, "peace of mind" sounds kinda catchy 🎡 and the fact that she's drawing inspiration from billy strayhorn and duke ellington is pretty cool πŸ‘ but have you heard samara joy's previous work? i thought it was all over jazz 😴 and now she's gonna perform live in miami 🌴 hope she doesn't get too nervous on stage πŸ’ƒ

Can't wait to see her live on February 12 at the Arsht Center, fingers crossed she'll be playing some new material 🀞!

🎡 just listened to this news about samara joy and i gotta say, it's dope that she's taking a bold new direction with her music πŸ”„. everyone's always talking about the importance of staying true to oneself and finding inner peace, but it sounds like samara joy is actually putting that into practice πŸ™. no more rushing around trying to stay relevant or chasing fame, just taking time to create something real πŸ’. can't wait to check out her new album "portrait" πŸ‘‚

I'm kinda curious how much of an influence social media's been on her shift towards smooth jazz? Like, does she think it's a way to stay relevant or something? πŸ€” I feel like we're seeing more and more artists trying to adapt to what's "cool" instead of staying true to themselves. It's cool that she's exploring themes of patience, but can't help feeling like there's pressure for her to fit into some sort of musical mold. And what about the value of her five Grammys? Is that just a validation thing or is it actually helping her in any way? 🎡
