Halloween in NYC will be dry but windy, clear skies and cool temps for marathon

New York City's Halloween forecast is looking decidedly less spooky, with dry and windy conditions expected to prevail across the five boroughs. According to meteorologist Matt Wunsch, gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are on tap for Friday afternoon, making flying a breeze – but also a potential problem for outdoor decorations that could easily become airborne.

Residents are advised to secure any loose items, such as inflatable decorations like ghosts and demons, in order to prevent them from being blown about. "It'll be dry, but it'll be windy," Wunsch cautioned. The windy weather is expected to follow some rain showers that are predicted for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, with a higher chance of widespread showers throughout the day.

However, by early Friday morning, skies are set to clear up, providing a welcome respite from the gusty conditions. Temperatures will stay in the mid-50s to low 60s throughout the weekend, although Saturday is expected to see some lingering gusts as the system moves north.

The good news for trick-or-treaters and marathon runners alike is that Sunday's forecast looks perfect: clear skies, lighter breezes, and seasonable temperatures in the mid-50s. Wunsch assured New Yorkers that there should be no residual effects from Hurricane Melissa, which will have moved out to sea by then.

Overall, while the weather may not be ideal for spooky festivities, it does promise a pleasant weekend for those looking to take part in outdoor activities – as long as they're prepared for some gusty winds.

I'm so over these Halloween forecasts! 🎃 I mean, can't they just leave us alone on Friday? 40 miles per hour winds are crazy, like what's the point of even having decorations if it's gonna blow them away? And don't even get me started on flying ghosts and demons, that's just terrifying. 💀 I guess it's better than getting rained on, but still, a girl can dream of some spooky atmosphere without all the wind & rain. Oh well, at least Sunday looks nice, perfect weather for trick-or-treating & marathons 🏃‍♀️.

Dry spells for spooky vibes 😐, guess we'll have to save the fog machines for next year 🎃️. On the bright side, Sunday's forecast looks perfect for a crisp trick-or-treat stroll 👣. Windy conditions are just going to make those outdoor decorations fly away 🌬️. Better secure them or they'll be lost in Central Park 🌳!

"When you come face to face with reality — unlike, for instance, your spouse or his mother — you tend to feel pretty awkward."

I'm not sure if NYC's Halloween plans are gonna be ruined by the dry and windy weather, but I guess it's good that they're being prepared. Those loose decorations could get outta control! 😅

🍂💨 think its gonna be a pretty boring halloween this year, windy conditions are gonna ruin all the decorations 🎃💥 but on the bright side, perfect weather for marathon runners and trick-or-treaters 😊 sunday looks like a great day out

meh, Halloween's gonna be kinda lame this year 🤷‍♂️... dry and windy? that sounds more like a bad weather forecast for Thanksgiving, you know what I'm sayin'? but hey, at least it's not supposed to rain or anything, so that's a plus 😐. and yeah, gotta secure those decorations, don't wanna lose any cool stuff in the wind 💨. on the bright side, Sunday looks pretty sweet 🌞️... clear skies and all that jazz 👍. hope everyone has fun, even if it's not exactly the spooky vibe we're used to 😐

ugh, dry and windy Halloween in NYC is just not the same 😔. I mean, who wants to walk around in the wind with their costume flying everywhere? 🤣 but at the same time, it's not like it's going to ruin the whole vibe of the holiday. I still get hyped for Halloween every year, even if the weather isn't perfect. and hey, on Sunday looks perfect, so that's something to look forward to 😊. just gotta make sure my inflatable decorations are secured or they'll be flying off into the next zip code 🎃

🤔 so dry and windy on halloween? that's just mean 😂. who wants to trick-or-treat with a gust of 40mph blowing around their candy? 🎃 and what about all the loose decorations? my neighbor's inflatable spider is gonna fly away like a kite ✈️. i hope they have a good plan in place or it'll be a real mess... btw, where's the video evidence of this supposed weather forecast? gotta see some pics or vids to believe it 📹.

🌧️♂️ so yeah its gonna be kinda windy halloween which is super annoying for outdoor decorations but i guess its actually kinda cool that we'll get clear skies on Sunday for all the trick-or-treaters and marathon runners 🏃‍♀️😊 plus think about it, fewer leaves to navigate through downtown NYC 💨 and less chance of broken umbrellas ⛈️ overall im still stoked for halloween its just a little different this year

I'm thinking of how Halloween was back in my day... we used to love the whole spooky atmosphere thing, you know? But now it's all about safety first, which is great I guess 😊. I mean, who wants their inflatable ghost flying away like a kite? Not me! The forecast is looking pretty unpredictable, but at least Sunday's supposed to be nice and clear. Too bad we can't enjoy the spooky vibes without worrying about our decorations flying off 🤣. Still, it'll be a great excuse to grab some hot cocoa and stay indoors if you're not feeling the wind...

You think NYC's Halloween is gonna be pretty low-key this year 🤔 with all that wind and rain? I mean, who wants their spider web decorations blowing away like a bunch of confetti?! 🎉 It's always a bummer when the weather doesn't cooperate, but at least it'll be clear skies on Sunday so you can still get out and enjoy some trick-or-treating or running in that marathon 😊. I guess dry and windy isn't exactly what you'd call spooky, more like just plain old windy 🌬️.

I don't know about you guys but I think this Halloween forecast is kinda a bummer 😐. I was really looking forward to all the spooky decorations and whatnot, but it sounds like they might just blow away 🌬️. Like, can you even enjoy Halloween if your ghostly friends are flying around? 🎃 I guess it's not all bad tho... clear skies on Sunday should make for some sweet running conditions or trick-or-treating, as long as the winds die down a bit 💨. Maybe we can just make do with some indoor spooky fun instead? 🏠👻

Ugh dont even get me started on this halloween forecast 🤯 I was really looking forward to all the spooky decorations and not seeing them just flying around like confetti. Its gonna be so annoying trying to enjoy the holiday when everything is just blowing away 🌪️ at least the clear skies on Sunday will make up for it tho

ugh dry & windy halloween forecast is so disappointing 🤕🌬️ what's the point of having decorations if they just gonna blow away? and 40mph gusts?! that's crazy 💥 anyway, i guess it's good that sunday looks nice for outdoor activities... fingers crossed my inflatable spider doesn't end up in central park 😂

Ugh, Halloween is gonna be such a letdown this year 🤕. Dry and windy? Who wants that? The decorations are just gonna get blown away and nobody's gonna want to walk around with a bunch of flimsy ghosts and demons flying everywhere 😂. And the trick-or-treaters are gonna have a blast trying to navigate through all that wind 💨. I mean, can't they just predict something normal for once? Like rain or snow? Something to make Halloween actually spooky 🎃. But no, it's gonna be windy and sunny... how original 😒.

Ugh I'm so bummed about this Halloween forecast 🤕. Dry and windy conditions are gonna make all the outdoor decorations fly away... like, literally! Who wants to see ghosts and demons soaring through the sky instead of hanging from trees? And what's with the windy weather after some rain showers on Wednesday and Thursday? It's like the weather is just trying to ruin the whole spooky vibe 🌫️. But hey, at least Sunday looks perfect for trick-or-treaters and marathon runners... clear skies, lighter breezes, and mid-50s temps 🏃‍♀️💨. Guess I'll have to rely on my Halloween decorations being anchored down or something 😂.

omg this is so annoying i was really looking forward to a super spooky halloween in nyc now it's just gonna be dry and windy like who even wants to go trick-or-treating with a freakin' wind blowing everywhere? 🌬️😒 at least the weekend looks nice tho maybe ill still make an appearance at the marathon thingy, but decorations are definitely getting blown away 🤯

ugh windy nyc on halloween is kinda harsh, but on the bright side, no flooded streets, lol! and think of all the ghostly decorations flying around like birds 🕸️💨 - just imagine the Instagram pics 📸. also, those marathon runners will love the perfect weather for a sunday run. silver linings, right?

ugh, Halloween in nyc is all about the atmosphere 🎃😒 so windy and dry conditions are like, totally ruining it 🌪️. i mean, who wants to see ghost decorations floating around everywhere? 🕷️ not me! anyway, at least sunday looks promising 🌞👍 mid 50s and clear skies - perfect for trick-or-treating and marathons 🏃‍♀️🎃. just hope the weather is consistent enough so people can actually enjoy themselves 😅

I feel like this forecast is teaching us about adaptability 🌪️. The weather can be unpredictable and sometimes doesn't go as planned. But what's important is how we respond to it. Instead of getting discouraged, residents are advised to take proactive steps to secure their outdoor decorations, which shows that they're thinking ahead and taking responsibility for the situation.

It's also a reminder that even when things don't go our way, there's always something to be learned from them 😊. In this case, it's not about the spooky weather, but about being prepared for anything life throws at us. And on a positive note, the forecast does promise a great weekend ahead! 🌞
