Here Are All the Awesome-Sounding Genre Films Coming to Sundance 2026

Sundance 2026 Lineup: Genre Films to Watch This Year

As the Sundance Film Festival approaches, fans of science fiction, horror, and other genre films are in for a treat. The 2026 festival will feature over 100 movies, including several that promise to be unforgettable.

If I Go Will They Miss Me is a heart-wrenching drama about a young boy struggling to connect with his father after experiencing surreal visions. Written and directed by Walter Thompson-Hernández, the film stars Danielle Brooks and J. Alphonse Nicholson. Online viewers can look forward to this emotional rollercoaster.

On the other hand, In the Blink of an Eye is an epic fantasy that spans thousands of years, exploring themes of hope, connection, and the circle of life. Directed by Andrew Stanton, written by Colby Day, and starring Rashida Jones, Kate McKinnon, Daveed Diggs, Jorge Vargas, and Tanaya Beatty.

Leviticus is a dark and intense tale about two teenage boys who must escape a violent entity that takes the form of the person they desire most – each other. Written and directed by Adrian Chiarella, starring Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Mia Wasikowska, Jeremy Blewitt, Ewen Leslie, and Davida McKenzie.

Buddy is a wild and wacky ride about a brave girl who must escape a kids' television show. Written and directed by Casper Kelly, the film stars Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Topher Grace, Keegan-Michael Key, Michael Shannon, and Patton Oswalt.

Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant is a hilarious comedy about a messy millennial who accidentally gets alien-pregnant. Written and directed by THUNDERLIPS, the film stars Hannah Lynch, Yvette Parsons, Arlo Green, and Jackie van Beek.

Rock Springs is a chilling horror tale about a young girl who discovers something monstrous hidden in her new town's history and woods. Written and directed by Vera Miao, starring Kelly Marie Tran, Benedict Wong, Jimmy O. Yang, Aria Kim, and Fiona Fu.

Saccharine is a dark fantasy that tells the story of Hana, a lovelorn medical student terrorized by a hungry ghost after taking part in an obscure weight loss craze: eating human ashes. Written and directed by Natalie Erika James, starring Midori Francis, Danielle Macdonald, and Madeleine Madden.

Lastly, Fing! is a quirky comedy about a demanding little girl and her parents battling an outrageously entitled viscount to protect their rare, furry, one-eyed Fing from those fixated on exploiting this wondrous creature. Directed by Jeffrey Walker, written by David Walliams and Kevin Cecil, the film stars Mia Wasikowska, Blake Harrison, David Walliams, Iona Bell, Penelope Wilton, and Taika Waititi.

While some of these films will be available to watch online, fans will need to purchase single tickets for the others. With this diverse lineup of genre films, Sundance 2026 is shaping up to be a must-attend festival for horror, sci-fi, and fantasy enthusiasts alike.

The Sundance Film Festival always brings out the best in American cinema, but let's talk about the elephant in the room – representation 🐘. I mean, have we seen enough films featuring diverse casts and crews? It seems like every year we get a few more movies that attempt to break down barriers, like Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant . But still, we need more.

And what's up with the lack of diversity in the ticket sales model? Single tickets for all but one film? That just doesn't add up, especially when you consider the cost of living and access to these festivals. It feels like the film industry is still trying to figure out its own priorities – are we prioritizing accessibility or profit margins?

And don't even get me started on the lack of representation in behind-the-scenes roles 🎬. We need more women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals involved in the production process to ensure that our stories are being told authentically.

All I'm saying is, Sundance 2026 better bring its A-game when it comes to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility – or risk getting left behind 🚫.

omg i'm so hyped for sundance 2026! 🎥👀 gotta check out "If I Go Will They Miss Me" - sounds like an emotional rollercoaster 😩 & "In the Blink of an Eye" epic fantasy tho! 🔮✨ what's up with all these crazy talented actresses in one film, though? rashida jones and kate mckinnon are gonna slay their roles 🤣 & "Leviticus" sounds super intense - dark fantasy is my jam 💀🔥 meanwhile, who knew being alien-pregnant could be hilarious 🤣 & "Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant" is definitely on my watchlist now.

omg I'm so hyped for sundance 2026!!! 🎥 there are some movies that already have me on the edge of my seat... like if i go will they miss me and rock springs sound soooo emotional and intense 😭👻. but also buddy is just giving me LIFE 🤣 with a brave girl escaping a kids' tv show, how can you not want to watch that?!? and the casting for in the blink of an eye is everything... rashida jones is going to bring so much heat to this epic fantasy 😘 can't wait to see all these movies!

I'm super stoked about this year's Sundance line-up 🎥👍! There are so many wild and wacky movies that I need to check out ASAP - from Buddy, which sounds like the most epic kids' TV show escape mission ever 🤣, to Saccharine, which has me totally intrigued with its dark fantasy vibes 💀. And Leviticus? Ugh, it's giving me some serious chills just thinking about it 😨. I'm also really interested in Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, because who wouldn't want to be accidentally alien-pregnant for a laugh 🤯? Rock Springs and Fing! are both calling my name too - those horror and comedy vibes are right up my alley! Can't wait to dive into all these movies and see what the festival has in store...

I'm excited about the Sundance lineup this year 🎥. With so many unique stories like Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant and Fing! it's gonna be interesting to see how these films balance humor and darkness. I love that there's a mix of epic fantasies (In the Blink of an Eye) and smaller indie dramas (If I Go Will They Miss Me). On another note, I'm a bit skeptical about the availability of some of these films - buying single tickets for all of them seems kinda pricey 🤑. That being said, the diversity in genres is what makes Sundance so awesome - it's a great platform for emerging talent and innovative storytelling.

OMG 🤯 just saw the lineup for Sundance 2026 and I'm SO hyped! There's so many unique and fascinating films that I need to check out ASAP! 😅 Like, Leviticus sounds super intense and dark, but also kinda amazing? 🤔 And In the Blink of an Eye is just so epic with all those talented actors in it! 🎥 But what really caught my eye is Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, haha that's just genius 🤣! Can't wait to see what the others have in store... 💖

🎥 just saw that sundance 2026 has some wild movies 🤯 like leviticus which sounds super dark & intense with two teens escaping this violent entity that takes the form of each other 😱 can't wait to see how it plays out also, I'm low-key excited for buddy, a kids' tv show where a girl must escape 👏 and mum i'm alien pregnant looks hilarious 🤣 think these movies will bring some amazing vibes to the festival 💥

🤩 I'm getting so hyped for Sundance 2026! Genre fans are in for a treat with over 100 movies, but you know what's even more exciting? The fact that some of these films are gonna be super emotional rollercoasters 🎥💔 like "If I Go Will They Miss Me". I mean, Danielle Brooks and J. Alphonse Nicholson are already making me teary-eyed just by reading about the film.

But seriously though, what's up with all these epic fantasies? Like, "In the Blink of an Eye" spans thousands of years and has a star-studded cast 🌟🎬...I get it, fantasy is cool, but can't we just have some more grounded stuff for once? 🤷‍♀️ At least there's something for everyone - horror fans will love "Rock Springs", dark fantasies like "Saccharine" for those who like a little eerie vibes, and then you've got the wacky comedies like "Buddy" that'll just make you LOL 😂.

And don't even get me started on the casting choices 🤯...some of these actors are going to kill it in their roles. But overall, I'm super stoked for Sundance 2026 and can't wait to see some of these films come to life on the big screen 🎥👍

🎥👀 just saw that sundance 2026 has some wild ones 🤪 like buddy which sounds like a crazy kids tv show escape film and mum im alien pregnant lol thats my kinda comedy 😂 cant wait to check out saccharine though dark fantasy is always fascinating 💀

OMG 🤩🎥 just saw the Sundance 2026 lineup and I'm SO stoked! 😆 There's something for everyone - from heart-wrenching dramas like "If I Go Will They Miss Me" to epic fantasies like "In the Blink of an Eye". And can we talk about the quirky comedy "Fing!" 🤣🐾 with Mia Wasikowska and Taika Waititi? 😂👏 I'm literally counting down the days until Sundance 2026! 🎉🍿

I just remembered I need to call my grandma back 📞 I always forget about those too 😅 what's with all these weird titles tho? "If I Go Will They Miss Me"? sounds like some crazy therapy session 😂 anyway, have you ever seen a movie that just made you wanna watch it over and over again but then realized the director just wanted to torture us poor souls 🤣

🤯 I'm kinda excited for Sundance '26, but also super skeptical about how many of these movies are actually gonna live up to the hype 🙄. Like, In the Blink of an Eye sounds so over-the-top epic that it's gotta be a mess, right? 😂 And what's with all the same actresses in multiple films - Mia Wasikowska, I feel you, girl, but like, can't she just take a break from horror flicks for once? 🙅‍♀️

But on the flip side, I'm all about that dark fantasy life 💀. Saccharine with Hana taking part in an ash-eating weight loss craze is giving me some serious The Witch vibes... and I am HERE. FOR. IT 🔥. And Buddy being a wild ride about escaping kids' TV sounds like the perfect antidote to my current existential dread 🤪.

Ugh, I'm gonna have to shell out some cash for Leviticus just because I need more intense, angsty teen drama in my life 💔. And Fing! with Taika Waititi, though... now that's a film I'd watch for its sheer audacity alone 🎥. What do you guys think about this lineup? Are you stoked or just over here like me, questioning everything 😒
