HISD issues two cost increases for copies of superintendent's emails

I cant believe what Im hearing about the Houston Independent School District 🤯. Theyre trying to charge these citizens an arm and a leg just to get some information that they should already have access to as taxpayers? It sounds like a classic case of government not wanting to be held accountable for its actions 💸.

I mean, come on, 52 full days of one person working full-time? That's just absurd 😂. And the fact that theyre still trying to claim that this information is public and subject to the Attorney General's ruling, when clearly it shouldnt be 🤔, just shows me that theyre not being transparent at all.

As someone who's been around for a while, I can tell you that transparency in government is one of the most important things we need more of. We have the right to know how our tax dollars are being spent and what decisions are being made that affect our communities 🤝.

I hope these citizens don't get taken advantage of here and that the fight for transparency continues until they get the answers they deserve 👊.

I don’t usually comment but... it’s super concerning that a school district in one of the wealthiest states in the US is still battling over who gets to see what emails their superintendent is sending 🤔. I mean, I get it, redacting stuff can be a thing, but $8k for 16 months' worth of emails? That's just crazy talk 💸. And the fact that the district keeps saying their estimates are based on public records is just suspicious 📝.

I think what's really frustrating here is that these moms just want to know how their tax dollars are being spent and what decisions are affecting their kids' schools, but the district is making it as hard as possible for them to get that info 👀. It's like, yeah, we get it, transparency can be complicated, but come on, let’s at least try to make it a little more accessible 😊.

It's also kinda scary when you think about how this could set a precedent for other districts or even other government agencies 🚨. I mean, if the powers that be in HISD are willing to go to these lengths to keep info from getting out, what does that say about accountability and transparency in general? 🤷‍♀️

OMG u guys 😱 I'm low-key concerned about this! The whole thing with HISD seems super shady. Like why does it take 52 days for one person to compile those emails? 🤔 It's just not adding up. And what's with the escalating costs? 🤑 Is this really just a coincidence or is the district trying to make it hard for ppl to get info on what's goin' on in their school districts? 💸 I'm all about transparency and accountability, especially when it comes to taxpayer dollars. It's not right that ppl are being forced to shell out $$$ for records that should be publicly available anyway 🤑. This is like a classic case of gov't tryin' to hide the truth from its citizens 🤥.
