‘I needed to leave a trace’: Survivors of the Paris attacks share their stories, ten years on

You know how people say 10 years after something like this happens you should've moved on by now 🤕...I don't think that's true for most people, especially not for those who were directly affected. It feels like they're just starting to process their emotions and it's still really hard for them to deal with the aftermath. Like, Alix's story is so relatable - she just wanted to move on but couldn't shake off the feeling of being overwhelmed. And Sébastien's anxiety triggers are so common now 🤯. It's like we expect people to just 'get over it' but that's not how trauma works. We need to keep having these conversations and supporting them until they're fully healed 💖.

I feel so bad for these people who've still got PTSD 10 yrs on 🤕👎 They're not just victims of the attacks, they're also victims of how society handles trauma. It's like, we need more support systems in place for these survivors, not just financial aid or therapy sessions, but actual emotional support from loved ones and communities 🤝

I mean, Alix is like a ticking time bomb because she can't even have kids now? That's the kind of thing that'll keep her up at night, wondering what could've been. And Sébastien's anxiety is so valid, it's not just about the attacks themselves, but about everyday life too 🎉 Fireworks and concerts are like, a nightmare for him.

We need to do better than just sharing their stories, we need to create a society where they feel seen, heard, and supported. Collective memory is crucial, but collective forgetting is even more devastating 💔 We need to learn from our mistakes and not let these tragedies happen again. It's like, 10 yrs on and people are still talking about the attacks, but what about the actual impact it has on survivors? 🤷‍♀️

🤕 its so sad to think about all these people still struggling 10 yrs after that tragic event 🙏 what really gets me is how mental health issues can be a long term thing for some ppl like alix & bahareh, and its not just about getting therapy or support but also changing your whole lifestyle 🌎

sometimes i feel bad for those who arent as vocal as alix & bahareh, they might still be dealing with the trauma behind closed doors 😔 and it makes me wonder if we as a society are doing enough to help them cope 👀

anyway, im just glad that there are ppl like alix & bahareh sharing their stories so that others can see that theyre not alone 🤗 and i hope that france & the world can learn from this tragedy and work towards creating a more compassionate & supportive society 🌈
