The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced a change of plans for the rescheduled Class 5A and 6A football state championship games. Originally postponed due to an anticipated snowstorm at Illinois State University's Hancock Stadium, the games will now take place on Tuesday instead of their originally scheduled date on November 29th.

The two games – Providence vs. St. Francis in Class 5A and Fenwick vs. East St. Louis in Class 6A – are set to kick off with a 3 p.m. start for the Class 5A matchup, followed by the Class 6A game at 6 p.m.

Tickets that have already been purchased will be honored, alleviating concerns for fans who had made travel plans to attend the games. However, uncertainty remains surrounding the rescheduling of the Class 7A and 8A state championship games, with officials stating that logistical hurdles must still be addressed before a decision can be finalized.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson acknowledged that the postponement is "unprecedented in our 51-year history" and expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of competing schools and their communities. The organization is working to determine the best solution for rescheduling the contests, with the intention of crowning state champions in the four largest classes by the end of the week.

The IHSA is hopeful that a decision on the Class 7A/8A title games will be made on Saturday, bringing closure to the ongoing saga. With Illinois State University's campus closure due to snowstorm concerns being lifted, fans can now look forward to seeing their favorite teams compete for state titles in the coming days.

First it's because of snow, then it's because of snow again, and now they're trying to figure out the Class 7A/8A state championship games which have been postponed like three times already 😩. I mean, can't they just make a decision for once?! 🤷‍♂️ And what about all the fans who have already made travel plans? They're gonna be stuck with a bunch of unanswered questions and cancelled tickets 📝. Not looking good for high school football in Illinois this year... 😔

OMG u guys 😱 i cant believe the IHSA is still dealing with this 🤯 7A/8A title games have been postponed like like 3 times already 😂 and its still unclear when they'll be rescheduled 🤔 il think its unfair to the teams that have already made it to the finals 👏 but hey at least tickets will be honored so fans dont have to stress too much 😌 lets just hope they get it sorted out soon 🙏

I feel kinda bad that the Class 7A and 8A games are still up in the air 🤔. I know the IHSA is working hard to figure out a solution, but it's been a long time since the games were rescheduled. Can't wait for the other teams to get their titles decided on Saturday 💪. Hopefully they can find a way to make it work and still have a great championship experience for everyone involved 🙏. Maybe we'll even see some snowflakes fall from the sky while the teams are playing ❄️! Wouldn't that be something?
 
so they rescheduled the 5a and 6a games but still don't know what's going on with the 7a/8a games 🤦‍♂️ like, how hard is it to make a decision about some football games? 🏈 ticket holders are already stressed enough, no need to add more uncertainty... fingers crossed they get it sorted out by saturday 💯
