NBA MVP Contention Heats Up as Jaylen Brown Takes Aim at Floppers.

Brown's comments came after the Celtics went 15-9, winning eight of their last ten games. Brown is scoring 29.1 points per game and is ranked tenth in the NBA's MVP ladder.

But what makes him tick? "If you wanna be an MVP, you gotta sell your soul," he said while streaming. "You gotta be a flopper. If you wanna be top of the top, you gotta sell your soul and just be a flopper."

Brown believes that if he wants to join the ranks of past MVPs, like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Joel Embiid, who have been known for their flop-prone tendencies, he'll need to work on his act. The former is averaging 10.2 attempts per game, while Embiid was second in the league when he won in 2023.

Brown takes just 7.1 free throws per game, a far cry from the big names. But if he wants to take down Luka Doncic at the top of the MVP ladder, he may need to step up his game - and flop even more.

I gotta say 🤔, I'm a bit surprised by Jalen's comments. Dude's been killing it on the court and I love how clutch he's become. But flopping for an MVP? That's some next-level stuff, fam 😂. I get what he means, though - if you wanna be the best, you gotta play like it.

idk man... 2 years ago i was saying he'd never make it as an mvp canditate lol. but then he just went out there and had some crazy games 🤯 like who does that? scoring 47 points in a single game is wild. maybe the flopping thing isn't so bad after all 🤑 i mean, if it gets him more free throws he can keep up with luka doncic for sure

I remember when players used to get all that extra attention for flopping... 🤦‍♂️ Nowadays it's just another part of the game, but I feel like those "soul sellers" back in the day were actually superstars 🌟. Like Tim Duncan, he was always so stoic and never seemed to try, but still managed to dominate 💪. idk about jaylen brown wanting to be a flopper... like, does he really think that's what got them top mvp in the first place? or is it just a way to get attention 🤔. personally i think its cool that hes trying to develop his game but maybe we should focus on being actually skilled players instead of just trying to draw fouls
