Jaylen Brown takes shot at 'flopping' MVPs

NBA MVP Contention Heats Up as Jaylen Brown Takes Aim at Floppers.

Brown's comments came after the Celtics went 15-9, winning eight of their last ten games. Brown is scoring 29.1 points per game and is ranked tenth in the NBA's MVP ladder.

But what makes him tick? "If you wanna be an MVP, you gotta sell your soul," he said while streaming. "You gotta be a flopper. If you wanna be top of the top, you gotta sell your soul and just be a flopper."

Brown believes that if he wants to join the ranks of past MVPs, like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Joel Embiid, who have been known for their flop-prone tendencies, he'll need to work on his act. The former is averaging 10.2 attempts per game, while Embiid was second in the league when he won in 2023.

Brown takes just 7.1 free throws per game, a far cry from the big names. But if he wants to take down Luka Doncic at the top of the MVP ladder, he may need to step up his game - and flop even more.

The question on everyone's mind is: will Jaylen Brown be able to pull off the ultimate move?

I gotta say πŸ€”, I'm a bit surprised by Jalen's comments. Dude's been killing it on the court and I love how clutch he's become. But flopping for an MVP? That's some next-level stuff, fam πŸ˜‚. I get what he means, though - if you wanna be the best, you gotta play like it.

But can Brown actually pull off the ultimate flop? That's a tough one πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The guy's got game for days, but I'm not sure that extra skillset is needed to take down Luka or any other top contender. Still, props to Jalen for keeping it real and maybe even pushing himself to step up his act πŸ‘. Only time'll tell if he can pull off the ultimate move πŸ”„

🀣 Oh man, come on! Flopping? Really? That's not how you get to the top, Jaylen. I mean, I know he's been on fire lately and all, but selling your soul for 10 extra points a game? No thanks. What about actual skill and hard work? He's averaging 29.1 points per game, that's impressive, but it's not like he's the only one who can do that. And another thing, flopping is so overrated. It's just cheating, you know? πŸ˜’ I think what they need to focus on is getting those free throws up - 7.1 per game? That's crazy low. I bet if he worked on his shot, he wouldn't even need all that flopping to get them. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” So I'm thinking what's really going on here with this flopping thing. Is Jaylen trying to distract us from something else? Like, has he been getting some shady coaching or maybe even some subpar equipment that's affecting his game? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And those free throw attempts... is it just a numbers game to keep up with Luka and Shai? I bet there's more to it than meets the eye. Or what if this flopping thing is just a clever ruse to get the refs on his side? I'm not buying into the "sell your soul" nonsense, lol. Something fishy's going down and I aim to catch it πŸŽ‰

I'm loving how intense Jaylen Brown is getting about becoming an MVP πŸ€―πŸ€. I mean, can you blame him? He's been crushing it on the court lately, averaging 29.1 points per game and all that jazz. But flopping? That's a whole different story. I think he's onto something there - if you wanna be at the top of your game, you gotta be willing to get a little dirty 😏.

I'm curious to see how this plays out. Jaylen's got some big names ahead of him in that MVP ladder, and Luka Doncic is definitely not going down without a fight πŸ€ͺ. I think it'll be fun to watch Jaylen try to sell his soul... er, I mean, work on those flops πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. Bring it on!

This guy's all about selling out, you feel me? πŸ€‘ Like, I'm not saying it's wrong or anything, but if he wants that MVP spot, he's gotta get a little dirty. Flopping's like the new free throw, right? Everyone's doing it, so why can't he just join the party? πŸ˜‚ But for real, it's like he's trying to prove something, like he's not good enough on his own talent. Newsflash Jaylen: you're already a beast on the court, no need to get all extra about those dunks 🐯...

idk man... 2 years ago i was saying he'd never make it as an mvp canditate lol. but then he just went out there and had some crazy games 🀯 like who does that? scoring 47 points in a single game is wild. maybe the flopping thing isn't so bad after all πŸ€‘ i mean, if it gets him more free throws he can keep up with luka doncic for sure

idk about jaylen brown thinkin hes gotta sell his soul 2 be a flopper lol like whats next? tryna jump on lakers' bench 2 get those mvp points πŸ˜‚ think he's bingin out or what?

I remember when players used to get all that extra attention for flopping... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Nowadays it's just another part of the game, but I feel like those "soul sellers" back in the day were actually superstars 🌟. Like Tim Duncan, he was always so stoic and never seemed to try, but still managed to dominate πŸ’ͺ. Jaylen Brown needs to find that balance between being clutch and just getting to the line... 7.1 free throws per game is pretty meh 😐. Still rooting for him though, I love watching him play πŸ€!

πŸ€” I think Jalen Brown is trying too hard πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Being an "MVP" isn't just about flopping, you know. It's about all those other skills like shooting, defense, and leadership. If he wants to be one of the best, he needs to work on his game overall, not just focus on being a flopper πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

I mean, have you seen some of the players who are ahead of him in the MVP race? They're not all known for their flopping skills πŸ˜…. Luka Doncic is an amazing player because he can do so many things on the court, not just flop around πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ.

It's all about balance, you feel me? 🀝 Brown needs to find that middle ground where he's still playing hard and trying to win, but not sacrificing his integrity in the process πŸ’―.

🀯 I'm low-key obsessed with this convo! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ So, I think what's interesting here is how much Jaylen Brown is putting pressure on himself to change his game. Like, he's acknowledging that flopping might be a part of the MVP equation, but he's also aware that it's not exactly the most attractive thing in basketball. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Can he really sell this "floppy" persona without looking like a total poser? πŸ€” I'd love to see him try - his scoring numbers are insane right now! πŸ’₯ But at the same time, I don't think it's just about trying harder or flopping more. There's gotta be some substance behind that MVP bid. πŸ’ͺ What do you guys think?

idk about jaylen brown wanting to be a flopper... like, does he really think that's what got them top mvp in the first place? or is it just a way to get attention πŸ€”. personally i think its cool that hes trying to develop his game but maybe we should focus on being actually skilled players instead of just trying to draw fouls

idk about this flopper thing πŸ€”, seems like overthinking it. all those mvp winners you mentioned have crazy athleticism too...jaylen brown can just use that instead of flopping πŸ˜‚. he's already killing it on the court, 29.1 points per game? that's insane!

I gotta say, I'm loving this competitive vibe with Jaylen Brown 🀩! It's awesome to see him taking ownership of his game and acknowledging what he needs to improve on. Flopping can be a bit polarizing, but if it means being in contention for MVP, I'm all for it πŸ˜‚. The thing that really got me is how passionate he was about it - it shows he's not just talking the talk, but actually putting in the work πŸ”„. Can't wait to see how this plays out and whether Jaylen Brown can join the ranks of those elite players πŸ’ͺ!
