Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson to return for latest Hunger Games instalment

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson to Revisit Capitol in Latest Hunger Games Installment.

The Hunger Games series is set to return with Jennifer Lawrence reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen alongside Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, a reunion that's both long-awaited and familiar. Following the conclusion of Mockingjay Part 2 in 2015, where Everdeen and Mellark were married with children, the two will once again take on their iconic roles in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

The upcoming prequel film is set to delve into the early days of Panem's tributes, specifically focusing on Haymitch Abernathy's formative experiences as a tribute in the 50th Hunger Games. It also explores Plutarch Heavensbee and a younger President Snow, with new additions Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes taking on these roles.

While Lawrence currently appears in Die My Love, which has garnered her Golden Globe nomination, Hutcherson is set to reprise his role as Peeta Mellark after Five Nights at Freddy's 2. The film marks the sixth installment in the Hunger Games franchise and follows director Francis Lawrence, who also helmed Mockingjay Part 2.

Principal photography wrapped up in November 2025, with a release date slated for November 2026. For fans of the series, this return promises to bring both nostalgia and new insights into Panem's dark past.

I'm so stoked about this one! πŸŽ₯πŸ‘ I've been thinking about Katniss and Peeta since Mockingjay Part 2 ended... it feels like just yesterday they were fighting for their lives in the arena 😩. This prequel is going to be so interesting, exploring Haymitch's past and President Snow's origins... it's going to give us a whole new perspective on Panem 🌟. I'm also glad Josh Hutcherson is back as Peeta - he was always such a great addition to the cast πŸ€—. Can't wait for November 2026... bring on the Hunger Games revival! πŸ”₯πŸ‘‘

I'm so stoked that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are reuniting as Katniss and Peeta in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping 🀩! I think it's awesome that they're revisiting their iconic roles, especially since we've been missing them for so long. And can you believe how much has changed since Mockingjay Part 2? I'm super curious to see how Francis Lawrence is going to bring new life to the franchise. I mean, who wouldn't want to explore Haymitch's formative experiences as a tribute? Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes are awesome additions, too - they're going to be so good! The fact that we get to see Plutarch Heavensbee and President Snow in new light is going to be so fascinating. I'm literally counting down the days until November 2026 πŸ•°οΈ

πŸŽ₯πŸ‘€ just heard about The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping πŸŒ…πŸ’« I'm so hyped for Jennifer Lawrence & Josh Hutcherson to reprise their iconic roles again 😍🀩 especially with Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes joining the cast 🀝🏻🎬 it's gonna be a wild ride exploring Haymitch's formative experiences πŸ’₯πŸ”₯ can't wait to see Francis Lawrence bring this prequel to life πŸ“ΈπŸ’«

I'm super stoked that they're bringing back Katniss & Peeta, I mean who doesn't love those two? 🀩 But, at the same time, a prequel about Haymitch's backstory might be kinda... meh? 😐 I don't know, it feels like we've seen enough of his angst and PTSD already. Can we just skip to some actual plot progression instead? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ On the bright side, Jesse Plemons as President Snow is gonna be lit! πŸ‘Š And Ralph Fiennes is always a great addition to any project, let's hope he doesn't ruin it for us...

OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE NEW HUNGER Games MOVIE!!! πŸŽ₯😍 jennifer lawrence is going back as katniss everdeen and i'm literally dying over it!!! she's been away from the franchise for ages so this is like a dream come true! what's crazy is that they're making a whole new film just about haymitch abernathy's life - i mean, can you even handle how cool that sounds?! 🀯

Ugh I'm so done with prequels already πŸ™„. I mean, can't they just leave well enough alone? The Hunger Games is one of those iconic franchises where you don't need all the extra backstory to enjoy it. And now they're bringing back Josh Hutcherson's character 10 years after the last movie... what's up with that? He's been busy with other projects and I'm sure he'd rather not rehash old roles.

OMG, I'm so down for another Hunger Games flick 🀩πŸ”ͺ️! It's been ages since we've seen Katniss & Peeta kick some butt in District 12... or was it District 13? πŸ˜‚ Anyway, I'm excited to see what all the fuss is about with this new prequel film. The idea of exploring Haymitch's formative experiences as a tribute has me intrigued - I always wondered how that guy went from being a rebel to becoming a mentor πŸ€”. Plus, can we talk about the casting? Jesse Plemons & Ralph Fiennes are awesome choices for Plutarch & Young Snow πŸ‘ŠπŸ»! Now, if only they could get me a cameo as a tribute... πŸ˜‰

OMG, can't wait to see J-Law and Josh back as Katniss and Peeta! I know some ppl are gonna be salty about Peeta being in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, but like, come on... the dude's got a job to do 🀣. And this prequel is gonna give us so much more insight into Panem's dark past, I'm super hyped! But let's be real, who needs a new Hunger Games movie when we've got Katniss and Peeta reuniting? It's like the ultimate fan service! What do u guys think about this prequel tho? πŸ€”

πŸ€” I'm low-key excited about this latest Hunger Games installment πŸŽ₯. Been waiting years for Josh Hutcherson to reprise Peeta's role πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’”. I love how they're exploring Haymitch's backstory, that guy's so complex πŸ˜’. And new additions like Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes are always a plus πŸ‘. Not sure about the timing though, November 2026 feels like forever away πŸ•°οΈ. Guess it'll be worth it if Francis Lawrence can bring some closure to Katniss and Peeta's story πŸ’•. Do you think this prequel will fill in any gaps for fans? 😊

I'm so hyped!!! The Hunger Games is back and it's gonna be EPIC!!! πŸ˜πŸŽ‰ I love how they're revisiting the Capitol with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson reprising their iconic roles! It's like no time has passed at all, but we get to see a whole new side of Panem's history. The casting of Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes is genius, can't wait to see what kind of drama they bring to the table πŸ€”πŸŽ¬

It's thrilling to see Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson reunite as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping πŸŽ₯. As we wait for the film's release, I'm curious to explore how Francis Lawrence will weave a compelling narrative around Haymitch Abernathy's formative experiences and the early days of Panem's tributes. The addition of Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes brings fresh perspectives to their respective roles, which should add depth to the franchise. With Jennifer's current projects like Die My Love getting attention, it's a great opportunity for fans to reimmerse themselves in the world of Panem. I'm expecting this prequel to deliver both nostalgic value and new insights into the series' complex history πŸ€”πŸ’‘

omg, can't wait for this new Hunger Games installment!!! 😍 I'm so down for more Katniss & Peeta action! 🀯 And a prequel focusing on Haymitch's journey is like, totally needed! πŸŽ₯ I mean, who doesn't want to see Jesse Plemons as a young Plutarch Heavensbee? πŸ€” Ralph Fiennes as President Snow's dad is gonna be so interesting! πŸ’‘ Francis Lawrence is back at the helm and I'm hyped for this one! The fact that it's set 50 years before the events of Mockingjay Part 2 means we get to see some new characters and possibly even some familiar ones from the early days of Panem. Fingers crossed they make Katniss's hair as awesome as it was in the original series! πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈ

omg u guys can u even believe jennifer lawrence is back as katniss?? i'm literally screaming on the inside my heart is full of all the feels lol what's going on with peeta tho? has he been living his best life with kids or did he just up and leave katniss like wtf?? anyway cant wait for this new prequel im so down for a sunrise in the reaping and more haymitch pls. and can we talk about how excited i am to see jesse plemons as plutarch heavensbee i've heard great things about him and ralph fiennes as young snow is giving me chills. its been ages since the hunger games series was last on my radar, but this announcement has brought all the feels back i'm so here for it πŸ€©πŸŽ‰πŸ’–

ugh I'm so down for another Hunger Games movie 🀩! I know some people are gonna be like "we've had enough" but honestly I think it's cool that they're revisiting the early days of Haymitch and President Snow. and omg Jesse Plemons as a young Plutarch is giving me all the feels 😍 I'm really hyped to see what Francis Lawrence has in store for us this time around. I'm not gonna lie, some of the plot points are kinda sketchy but I trust Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson to bring it back with that signature Katniss-Peeta magic πŸ’•

I'm so stoked about this new Hunger Games installment! I mean, it's been ages since we last saw Katniss and Peeta on screen. Jennifer Lawrence is literally killing it in Die My Love right now, but I'm hyped she's coming back to the franchise. And Josh Hutcherson's return as Peeta will be like no time has passed at all - he still got that swoon-worthy charm going on 😍. The addition of Jesse Plemons and Ralph Fiennes as younger Haymitch and President Snow? Genius! I need all the details about this prequel, especially how they're going to explore Plutarch's character... will it be a darker or more hopeful take on Panem's history? πŸ€”

omg what a comeback!!! 😍 it's been ages since we saw katniss & peeta on screen together... i mean who doesn't love jennifer lawrence and josh hutcherson as our favorite tributes? 🀩 they're gonna bring back so much nostalgia with this prequel, esp. with haymitch's backstory... can't wait to see how the early days of panem went down! πŸ‘€

Ugh, another Hunger Games film πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ... I mean, can't they just leave it alone? They're already making a prequel after like 10 years with Mockingjay Part 2... what's next? And Josh Hutcherson is literally coming back from Five Nights at Freddy's 2 πŸ˜‚. It feels like they're rehashing the same old storylines instead of exploring new directions. I'm all for a reunion, but let's not forget about the characters that aren't getting any screen time... poor Beetee πŸ˜”

I'm so stoked to hear that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are back as Katniss and Peeta! I mean, it's like no time has passed at all, you know? I loved the original Hunger Games trilogy and I'm curious to see where this prequel takes us. I've always felt like Haymitch's story was a bit underdeveloped, so it'll be interesting to see him in action. And I love that they're bringing back Francis Lawrence as director - he did such a great job with the previous films.

I'm also excited to see what this new installment will do for the franchise. It's been a while since we've had a good dose of Hunger Games, so it'll be nice to get back into the world of Panem. I just hope they don't forget how dark and complex it was in the original films... but at the same time, I'm all for exploring new perspectives! 😊 Can't wait to see what's in store for us this fall 🎬

I'm not sure why they're reviving this franchise again πŸ€”... I mean, we've already had four movies and a bunch of spin-offs. Can't we just move on from all the violence and dystopian nonsense? And what's up with making Katniss and Peeta go back in time? It feels like they're trying to milk every last drop out of this franchise πŸ’Έ. I'm not sold on this prequel film either... it sounds like more of the same old Hunger Games stuff 🏹. I'd rather see some new, original stories being told instead of rehashing the past.
