Julia Wolf Reveals Drake DM That Led to ‘Dog House’ Collab: ‘He’s a Super Open-Minded Guy’

In a surprise move, rapper Drake surprised singer Julia Wolf with an Instagram DM that would change her life forever. The conversation began when Wolf's friend told their mutual acquaintance, Zach Kang, that she was a huge fan of the 6 God. When Zhang posted about it on his show, Wilson's eyes landed on Wolf and he immediately thought of reaching out to her.

Wolf recalled the surreal moment in an interview on Monday (Oct. 27), revealing how a late-night DM from Drake led to their collaboration on "Dog House." The singer recounted the morning after when she received a follow message that would make anyone freak out, reading: "Champagnepapi followed you!" Her friend Tanner woke her up at 6 a.m., and it turned out to be none other than the rapper himself.

The story took an interesting turn when Wolf explained that it was actually someone else who put Drake on her music. According to her, a friend of a friend asked him to play "In My Room" by Julia Wolf during a night out at a club, where he would later DJ with a group of friends. After playing the track, Drake reached out to her directly and requested some unreleased demos.

Wolf had no idea what she was getting herself into as she hastily scribbled down whatever came to mind over loops, hoping that something would resonate with the rapper. Out of five options sent to him, "Dog House" stood out as a potential hit. The chorus she had written for an alternate track eventually ended up on the final version of "Dog House," which debuted at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In an interview, Wolf praised Drake's open-mindedness and willingness to collaborate with emerging artists like herself. She recalled how he was "super cool" when they first started talking, saying: "He's a super open-minded guy." Despite being in the dark about her song potentially becoming part of his album for months, Wolf has expressed gratitude towards Drake for giving her a chance to shine on a track that showcases their chemistry.

When asked about the surprise collaboration, Wolf couldn't help but chuckle at how it all began. She revealed that after sending her demos to Drake, she heard nothing for weeks – until the song dropped with his approval. "I'm like, 'What can I possibly say that Drake can resonate with?'" She recalled. "He's resonating with 'In My Room,' he's loving the album, he's saying, 'This is so me.'"

The unexpected twist has left fans buzzing about the unlikely collaboration between Julia Wolf and Drake. It remains to be seen if this will be a one-off or something more substantial in their future endeavors.

🤔 gotta say, it's pretty wild that julia wolf got a chance to collab with drake just 'cause her friend told him she was a fan 🙄 i mean, wouldn't you want to reach out to someone who's been spitting bars for years? 💁‍♀️ maybe it's good that she was in the dark about it tho, maybe it would've put too much pressure on the track 😅 what do u think? is this a one-off or are we gonna see more collabs like this in the future? 🤔

I'm loving how surreal it all went down for Julia Wolf 🤯. I mean, who wouldn't want to get a DM from the 6 God himself? 😂 It's amazing that he was open-minded enough to collaborate with an emerging artist like her. I think she deserves a huge shoutout for being super cool under pressure too 😎. The fact that "Dog House" ended up on his album is just crazy, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for their collab 🤔. Maybe we'll get more surprises from Drake in the near future? 💥

omg i cant even believe what happened here 🤯🔥 so julia wolf is basically saying drake's team got her music on repeat and then he DM'd her out of the blue and it was literally life changing 😱 they were talking about collabing on a song and the rest is history but also kinda wild that she had no idea what was going down for months 🤔 at least its cool to see him giving out opportunities to new artists tho 💼

His open-mindedness is truly inspiring, and I love how he's always looking for new sounds to collaborate with. "Champagnepapi" is such a cool name btw 😎. This unexpected collaboration between Julia Wolf and Drake has got me intrigued 🤔. The fact that it was initiated by someone else introducing Wolf's music to Drake, who then took notice of her work, is quite fascinating. It just goes to show how the music industry can lead to some amazing surprises and opportunities for artists who may not have had a platform otherwise.

Wolf's humility and gratitude towards Drake for giving her a chance to shine on "Dog House" is admirable 💯. And I must say, it's impressive that she was able to write something that resonated with him so much, as evident in the final version of the track. It's also interesting to note how Wolf has expressed admiration for Drake's open-mindedness and willingness to collaborate with emerging artists.

One thing that caught my attention is the way this collaboration has brought attention to Wolf's music, especially her album "In My Room", which now seems like a hidden gem 🎶. Whether or not this will lead to more substantial future endeavors between Wolf and Drake remains to be seen, but it's definitely an exciting development for fans of both artists 🤞

OMG you guys 🤯 I'm literally shook by this collab news! Like, who would've thought that Julia Wolf would get DM'd by Drake out of the blue? 😂 It's insane how it all went down - a friend putting his name forward and then him actually reaching out. And that "Champagnepapi followed you" message is just too funny 🤣. But for real, I'm so glad Drake was open to collaborating with Wolf. She seems like such an underrated artist and this collab is giving her the spotlight she deserves 💫
