Juvenile charged in Bucks County for October swatting call at Council Rock High School South

A juvenile has been charged with making a false emergency call about a threat at Council Rock High School South in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, prompting a 34-minute lockdown and a heavy police response. The incident is part of a wave of swatting incidents targeting U.S. high schools and colleges, including two recent incidents at Villanova University.

According to authorities, the juvenile made a 911 call on October 1 about a crisis at the school, leading to an immediate lockdown and a massive police response from multiple agencies. However, after a thorough investigation, no credible threat was found, and students were eventually sent home with police giving the all-clear.

The incident has sparked outrage, with Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn calling it "unacceptable" and saying that such conduct must be addressed. The DA's office said that the charges filed against the juvenile follow a joint investigation by Northampton Township Police, the DA's office, and the FBI.

Swatting, a type of hoax report to police intended to create a large-scale emergency response, has been on the rise in recent months, with many incidents targeting schools and colleges. Researchers have linked some swatting calls to an online group called Purgatory, which allegedly operates as part of a decentralized network that carries out false shooter reports and bomb scares for payment.

Lawmakers in Pennsylvania are now seeking ways to make swatting a separate crime, with State Rep. Craig Williams introducing bills that would make it a felony offense and allow courts to order restitution for the response to hoax calls. However, his proposal is not without controversy, and another bill by State Rep. Tim Briggs falls short of addressing the issue directly.

The incident highlights the need for stronger laws and regulations to hold perpetrators accountable for such incidents. As one expert noted, "it's absurd that Pennsylvania hasn't made swatting a separate crime." The DA's office has taken action, but more needs to be done to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

In related news, authorities are still searching for information about a baby girl found dead in a dumpster in 1986. The FBI is investigating and trying to identify her remains.

The swatting incidents have had a significant impact on communities across the country, with many schools and colleges taking extra security measures to prevent such incidents from happening again. As one school official noted, "the fear of a school shooting is very real," and it's essential that we take all necessary steps to ensure student safety.

In a statement, Jennifer Schorn said, "We live in a society where the fear of a school shooting is very real, and it's wholly unacceptable to allow for this type of criminal conduct to go unchecked."

man this is just insane like what kinda sick person calls 911 and says theres a crisis at a high school but its all fake ๐Ÿคฏ? a 34 minute lockdown that couldve been avoided if they checked the call first...and now theres laws being proposed in pennsylvania to make swatting a felony lol thats about time

i heard there was an online group called purgatory that does this stuff and gets paid for it ๐Ÿค‘ like who would do this to innocent kids? its just wrong on every level

Ugh, can you believe this? Like, someone making up an entire crisis at a high school just to see how many cops come out. ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, what's the point of even doing that? It's not like they're gonna get paid for it or anything... unless there's some kinda underground network out there that's paying people to do this swatting stuff. And now we gotta deal with the aftermath, and a bunch of lawmakers trying to make it a crime. But let's be real, I bet someone's still gonna find a way to exploit the system. It's all just a big web of deceit... ๐Ÿค”

omg this swatting thingy is soooo messed up ๐Ÿคฏ like what if someone actually got hurt or killed cuz of some random hoax call?? i mean we need to make laws that punish people who do this kind of stuff harshly, like a felony offense or something and yeah the fact that PA hasn't made it a crime already is wild ๐Ÿ™„ like how can you not have laws for this kinda thing? and its not just PA either its happening in other states too so we need to take action ASAP ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh ๐Ÿคฏ, this swatting thing is like, totally insane ๐Ÿšจ. I mean, think about it, some dude makes a 911 call saying there's a shooter at school, and it causes a full-on lockdown? Like, what's next? Someone calls the cops and says their cat is on fire? ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ˜น. It's just so unnecessary, you know?

And the fact that this kid did it for... like, attention or something ๐Ÿ˜’, it's just gross. I mean, can't they think about how their actions would affect people? The parents of those students, the teachers, the police officers who have to deal with all this stress? It's not cool, dude.

And now we're supposed to be debating whether swatting should be a crime or whatever ๐Ÿค”. Like, come on, it's already a problem! We need to just take care of it already ๐Ÿ’ช. But at the same time, I don't want some new law that's gonna be super strict and unfair to people who accidentally get caught up in this stuff ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

You know what's weird? The FBI is still searching for that baby girl from like, 1986 ๐Ÿ‘ถ. That's so... random ๐Ÿ˜ณ. I guess it just goes to show that even in a world where we're trying to figure out how to stop swatting, there are still these other mysteries and stuff floating around ๐Ÿค”.

This swatting thingy is like, so last season ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, come on, who tries to prank call 911 thinking they can get everyone's attention? It's like, we've got real problems to deal with and you're over here wasting our resources with your juvenile antics ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And what's up with the online group Purgatory? Like, who pays for these guys to make fake threats? It's just crazy ๐Ÿ’ธ. And now they want to make it a separate crime in PA? Better late than never, right? ๐Ÿ˜…

The whole thing is just a big mess, but you know what's even more messed up? The fact that someone's dead body is still out there waiting for ID ๐Ÿค•. Like, get with the program, 1986! We've got DNA and all sorts of fancy tech to solve your mystery ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ.

Anyway, let's just hope that some real change comes out of this and these swatting idiots get their due ๐Ÿ’ช. And maybe we can finally put those extra security measures back on the shelf ๐Ÿคž?

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I feel so frustrated when people make false emergency calls like that, it's just not right ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, think about all the resources that get wasted on a hoax call... 34 minutes is a long time to lock down a school! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ And now they're trying to figure out how to stop this from happening again, but some people are still doing it... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I don't know why some people think it's funny or whatever to play pranks on others like that... ๐Ÿคฏ It's not. And what if someone had actually been in danger? The whole thing would've been a disaster ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I just wish they'd come up with a better way to deal with these swatting incidents, instead of trying to catch the people doing it and make them pay... ๐Ÿ’ธ

omg u no how frustrating this swatting thingy is ๐Ÿคฏ like literally think about how scared the students & staff at Council Rock High School South must've felt when they got that 911 call lol what if it was real tho? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ anyway, i think we need stricter laws for this stuff. i mean, come on pa state reps shouldnt be still debating whether or not to make swatting a separate crime ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ its just common sense u know? the more they do nothing, the more kids will keep getting put in harm's way ๐Ÿ˜” anywayz let's hope the DA & police can catch the culprits & get justice for those schools ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, can you believe this kid made an emergency call just to see how crazy everyone would get? I mean, 34 minutes of lockdown? That's wild ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. And now they're trying to make swatting a separate crime in PA...it's about time. But at the same time, I feel bad for the kid who did it - they probably got caught up in something that seemed cool or attention-grabbing online ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And can we talk about how ridiculous some of these bills are? Like, making swatting a felony offense...I don't know if that's gonna stop people from doing it. It feels like we're just treating the symptoms instead of addressing the root cause ๐Ÿ’”. We need to get rid of the online platforms that enable this kind of stuff and make sure our schools are safer for everyone ๐Ÿซ.

But, on a weird note...have you guys heard about the baby girl found in a dumpster back in '86? I mean, what even is going on with that story? Is it still unsolved? ๐Ÿค”

this swatting thingy needs to be taken seriously... how many lives were put at risk for some sick prank? 34 minutes, that's a big deal. police resources wasted on false alarms, it's just not right ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’”

I'm telling ya, swatting incidents are getting outta hand ๐Ÿคฏ... but at the same time, I don't think we should be too hard on kids who just wanna have some fun online, you know? Like, the juvenile in this case might've been trying to prank their friends or something, and it just got out of hand. But then again, 34 minutes is a looong time to be locked down for a false alarm... and what if there actually was a threat? ๐Ÿค”

I'm all for stronger laws and regulations, but let's not forget that these kids are still just kids, you know? They don't have a clue about the consequences of their actions. And then again, I saw this thing about swatting being linked to some online group... that's just crazytown ๐Ÿšซ... or is it? Like, maybe we should be looking at the bigger picture here and trying to address the root cause of these incidents.

And what's with all the proposed bills in Pennsylvania? ๐Ÿค” One says it's a felony offense, but another one falls short... I'm not sure what's going on here. Maybe we need to take a step back and just have a serious conversation about this issue?

Ugh ๐Ÿคฏ I dont think the solution here is just makin it a felony offense tho ๐Ÿ’ธ. That's not gonna stop people from doin it if they want 2 ๐Ÿค‘. What we really need is better mental health support 4 kids who are feelin stressed n overwhelmed ๐Ÿค•. Sometimes, all they need is someone 2 talk 2 ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ. Instead of callin the cops, maybe we should invest in more counseling services n online resources ๐Ÿ“Š. That way, when some kid's feelin crazy, they can get the help they need instead of resortin to a prank call ๐Ÿ˜

OMG you guys! ๐Ÿคฃ Can you believe someone would do that? Like, what was going through their mind? 34 minutes lockdown, I mean, that's like a whole day of not being able to get out ๐Ÿ˜‚. And now they're trying to make it a crime, like finally some sense in PA ๐Ÿ’ก. But for real, swatting is so wild. Like, who gets paid to scare people? ๐Ÿค‘ Is this why we have school counselors instead of counselors for swatters? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
