Kwame Brathwaite, photographer of ‘Black is Beautiful’ movement, dies at 85 | CNN

I just read about Kwame Brathwaite's passing 🙏😢 he was an amazing photographer and activist who did so much for the Black community. I'm not sure what's more impressive - his photography skills or how he managed to make a difference in the art world at such a young age. It's crazy to think about how his work influenced generations of artists and collectors, and how it paved the way for more diverse representations of beauty 📸💁‍♀️

I do wish I could've seen some of these exhibitions in person - I'd love to check out "Naturally '62" and see what all the fuss is about 🎨👀. It's also amazing that his son is keeping his legacy alive, sharing photos and stories on social media. That's really cool 👍.

I think it's great that people are still discovering Brathwaite's work today - 40 years after he was already a renowned photographer 😊. I guess you could say his impact will keep on going for generations to come 💪.

I'm shocked 🤯 he lived to be 85, that's like, forever for someone who was so impactful on the photography world... I mean, have you seen his work with the Grandassa Models? That was some pioneering stuff right there 💁‍♀️. And can we talk about how his photos of jazz legends are still so iconic today? Like, Miles Davis is still one of my favorite musicians, and Kwame Brathwaite's photos of him are what got me into jazz in the first place 🎸. But seriously, it's sad to see someone with such a legacy go. I'm sure his son will do great things carrying on his father's work 💕

OMG, I'm so sad to hear about Kwame Brathwaite 🤕! He was literally the OG photographer when it came to celebrating black beauty 🌸. His work with the Grandassa Models was so ahead of its time and paved the way for future generations of artists to showcase their unique features 💁‍♀️. I mean, who else could make a generation of people look at beauty in a whole new light? 💥 His legacy lives on through his son's Instagram post 😔, but it's still hard not to feel a pang of sadness 🤗. Rest in peace, Kwame 🙏🌞

man I'm so sad about kwame brathwaite 🤕 he was literally a legend in the photography game and his work on 'black is beautiful' movement still holds so much power today. it's crazy how his style and technique were ahead of its time 🙄 all those photos of jazz legends are iconic but what I love most about him is how he used photography to challenge societal norms and promote black culture. his legacy will definitely live on through his son and all the people who've been inspired by his work 💡 can't believe we're losing another piece of history 😔
