Kyle Williams' Super 25 high school girls basketball rankings for Jan. 18, 2026

Mighty Macs Make a Statement in Upset Win Over St. Charles East, Leap to 16th Rank in Super 25

Mother McAuley's girls basketball team proved they're more than just a powerhouse by knocking off St. Charles East 58-49 in the Coach Kipp Hoopsfest at Maine West. The Saints' physicality couldn't match the Mighty Macs' hunger for victory, which propelled them to their first win of the week.

Sophomore Ava Little was instrumental in the team's success, scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds. Her active play in the paint and solid defensive skills made her a key player in limiting St. Charles East's star forward Brooklyn Schilb, who had 28 points and 11 rebounds.

"Little can defend one through five," Mother McAuley coach Curtis Lewis said, praising his team's athleticism. "So when we put her on the floor, we gain a lot defensively."

Senior guard Quinn Arundel had a big game with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. The win marked an impressive week for Arundel and her team.

"We needed this win, especially because we weren't the team picked to win," she said. "It gives us more confidence and grit because we wanted it more than them."

Meanwhile, Benet's strong roster continued to shine, with junior guard Ava Mersinger putting on a standout defensive performance in their 61-39 victory against Glenbrook South.

Benet remains at the top of the Super 25 rankings for now, followed closely by Loyola Academy. The rest of the teams in the top 10 have had varying degrees of success in recent games.

In other news, Prospect junior forward Zoe Black scored a program-record 42 points, including 11 three-pointers, in a 79-60 victory against Phillips at Maine West.

The Super 25 rankings remain as follows:

1. Benet (18-1) 1
2. Loyola Academy (20-2) 3
3. Naperville Central (18-3) 4
4. Nazareth (17-3) 5
5. Waubonsie Valley (19-1) 2
6. Kenwood (18-4) 6
7. Mother McAuley (15-4) 16
8. Fremd (18-3) 8

OMG, you guys! The Mighty Macs are like the underdog superheroes of the basketball world ๐Ÿ˜‚. I mean, who doesn't love an upset win? They came from behind and proved they're more than just a powerhouse team... or in this case, they're still a powerhouse, but with a hint of humility ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. Ava Little is like the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of defense ๐Ÿคฉ, and Quinn Arundel's confidence boost is totally understandable - who wouldn't want to be part of a team that wants it more than anyone else? ๐Ÿ˜Ž Benet's strong roster is still holding strong at the top spot, but Mother McAuley's got some serious skills too... like being able to defend one through five (just saying ๐Ÿ‘€).

๐Ÿ™ I gotta say, these girls are on fire right now! I mean, Mother McAuley's win over St. Charles East was a big one and it shows they're not just about being dominant, but also about having heart. Ava Little and Quinn Arundel are proving to be some of the top talent in this league. And Benet is still on top for now, but I'm curious to see how these teams stack up against each other as we head into the playoffs. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ OMG can you believe the Mighty Macs just took down St Charles East? I'm literally shaking with excitement! Ava Little is a total beast on the court, her defensive skills are insane! And Quinn Arundel's game was ON POINT ๐Ÿคฉ. I love how she said they wanted it more than the other team, gives me all the feels ๐Ÿ˜Š. The rankings are looking good for Benet, but Mother McAuley's climb up to 16th is a total win ๐ŸŽ‰. These teams are giving me LIFE! ๐Ÿ’–

omg, Ava Little is like the real MVP ๐Ÿคฉ! She totally outplayed Brooklyn Schilb and her team couldn't handle it ๐Ÿ˜‚. I love how coach Curtis Lewis says she can defend one through five on the court, that's like a superpower ๐Ÿ’ช! Mother McAuley's girls basketball team needs to keep this momentum going, they're definitely giving some top-ranked teams a run for their money ๐Ÿ†. Can't wait to see what they do next season ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I love seeing the Mighty Macs step up and prove themselves! I mean, they were definitely underdogs going into this game, but they showed everyone what they're capable of ๐Ÿคฉ. Ava Little is an absolute beast on the court - that girl can defend anyone! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ And Quinn Arundel's stats are insane ๐Ÿ’ฅ. It's amazing how a big win like this can give their team so much confidence and grit. I'm loving the underdog story here, and I think it'll be super interesting to see how they perform in the rest of the season ๐Ÿคž. The Super 25 rankings always make for fun reads - I love seeing the teams jostling for position ๐Ÿ’ช. Bring on the playoffs! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘€ I'm loving the resurgence of Mother McAuley's girls basketball team, especially with that big win over St. Charles East! It just goes to show how hungry they were for victory, and Ava Little was definitely a key player in making it happen ๐Ÿคฉ. Her ability to defend multiple players at once is truly impressive, and coach Curtis Lewis must be so proud of her skills.

The Super 25 rankings have Benet holding strong at the top spot, but I'm excited to see how the rest of the teams shake things up as the season progresses ๐Ÿ”„. Loyola Academy's strong performance is definitely keeping them in the mix, but I think Mother McAuley has got some real momentum going on right now โšก๏ธ.

It's also awesome to see Prospect junior forward Zoe Black making waves with her program-record 42 points and 11 three-pointers ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. She's a true talent and I'm curious to see how she'll continue to perform as the season unfolds ๐Ÿค”.

I'm telling ya, the Mighty Macs are like the underdog in a rom-com - they're not supposed to win, but they just do! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I mean, Ava Little is like the ultimate sidekick, holding it down on defense and getting those six rebounds. And Quinn Arundel's got skills for days, scoring 19 points and stealing three passes? That's like a superhero move right there ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ. But you know what they say, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" - or in this case, when your team is supposed to lose, win instead! ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, can't believe St. Charles East is already getting ranked so high ๐Ÿ™„... I mean, don't get me wrong, they're a great team and all, but the way they lost to Mother McAuley was pretty embarrassing ๐Ÿ˜ณ. And what's up with the rankings system anyway? Benet being number one again, despite only having a 18-1 record? It just doesn't feel fair ๐Ÿค”. And have you noticed how some teams are basically swapping spots every week? Like, Loyola Academy moved up to 3rd and then suddenly dropped back down to 2nd... what's going on?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I remember when high school hoops was all about individual scores and not much team play ๐Ÿค”. Now it's like the teams are really working together, with everyone contributing to the win ๐Ÿ’ช. I mean, Ava Little was on fire out there, holding down St. Charles East's star forward... it's just like old-school basketball where the defense is just as important as scoring ๐Ÿ€. And Benet's still killing it at the top of the rankings ๐Ÿคฉ. But you know who's having a great season? Prospect's Zoe Black! 42 points in one game? That's some crazy stuff ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I'm not sure if I'd want to watch that many three-pointers, though... it's like she was on fire ๐Ÿ”ฎ.

๐Ÿ€ So the Mighty Macs are on fire and making a statement, huh? I mean, it's great for women's basketball, but can we talk about the real issue here? Is it just another case of privilege and resources favoring teams like Benet? ๐Ÿค” They're at the top of the Super 25 rankings with an 18-1 record, while other teams are struggling to stay relevant. What does that say about our high school sports system?

And let's not forget about the ranking changes. Mother McAuley jumps from 20th to 16th? That's a big leap! Is it because they're being given more attention and exposure? ๐Ÿ“ฐ It's like, what about all the other teams who are doing well too? Shouldn't we be celebrating their success as well?

It's not just about sports, folks. It's about how we value talent and achievement across different schools and backgrounds. We need to make sure everyone has an equal chance to shine, not just those with more resources and connections. ๐Ÿ’ช

omg can't believe Benet is still number one ๐Ÿคฏ, they're so dominant it's like they're not even playing against anyone else. i mean, don't get me wrong, Loyola academy is looking strong too, but Benet's roster just looks unstoppable ๐Ÿ’ช. what do you guys think about the rankings? should benet be number one for real or is it still a little early to tell ๐Ÿค”

I think its crazy how much a single win can boost a team's morale and ranking ๐Ÿคฉ! Mother McAuley had that 'I don't wanna lose' energy and it paid off big time. I'm also loving Ava Little's skills on the court, she seems like a real game-changer for the Saints ๐Ÿ’ช. And props to Quinn Arundel for pulling out all the stops in their win against St Charles East ๐Ÿ™Œ. Its great to see some of these teams making waves and shaking up the rankings! ๐Ÿ‘€

omg u guys i just watched this crazy game between Mother McAuley and St Charles East and I'm literally shaking with excitement!!! so the Mighty Macs are like totally rising through the ranks now they're ranked 16th which is insane considering how strong their rivals were they played so well and Ava Little was a total boss she scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and her defense was on point especially when it came to stopping Brooklyn Schilb who's like a super star player i love how the coach Curtis Lewis was all proud of his team's athleticism too and Quinn Arundel had an amazing game with 19 points and 7 rebounds - she's like totally my new idol lol

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ€ The Saints' win is a huge deal for them and it shows they can compete with the top teams! Ava Little's defense was on point, holding Brooklyn Schilb to just one through five. Interesting how Quinn Arundel's team needed this win so badly, it gave them that extra confidence boost. Benet still killing it at the top of Super 25 ๐Ÿค‘

omg u guys, think about it... these rankings are way too suspiciously controlled... like what's up with Benet always being at the top? and Loyola Academy suddenly jumping to 3rd? something fishy is going on here ๐Ÿค”. and have u noticed how all the schools in the top 10 have had "varying degrees of success" recently? it sounds like someone's trying to make these teams look more competitive than they actually are... meanwhile, some other schools like Mother McAuley just kinda snuck into the rankings without much fuss ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. idk, maybe I'm overthinking this but something doesn't add up ๐Ÿ˜’
