Lebanese president orders army to confront Israeli incursions after deadly raid

Lebanese President Orders Army to Confront Israeli Incursions Amid Deadly Raid.

A Lebanese municipal worker, Ibrahim Salameh, has been killed in an Israeli raid on the Blida municipality building, prompting President Joseph Aoun to instruct his army to confront future incursions into Lebanese territory.

According to Lebanese state media, Israeli forces stormed the building where Salameh was sleeping and then shot him. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across Lebanon, with many condemning the repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

The killing took place despite a November 2024 ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, which mandated the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area. However, it appears that Israel continued to disregard this agreement, carrying out airstrikes in Labouneh, a town in south-west Lebanon, in the hours following the raid.

Drones were also spotted flying low over Beirut, fueling tensions between Israel and Lebanon. The Lebanese president's order for his army to confront Israeli incursions marks a significant escalation of the crisis.

The US envoy Morgan Ortagus recently praised Lebanon's decision to bring all weapons under state control by the end of the year, but it remains unclear how this will impact the situation on the ground.

Hezbollah has said that it is committed to complying with the ceasefire deal, but the Israeli military's actions suggest that they are not taking the agreement seriously. With tensions running high, the international community is watching closely to see how this crisis unfolds.

In a statement, President Aoun instructed his army to "confront any Israeli incursion into liberated southern territory, in defense of Lebanese territory and the safety of citizens." The fate of Salameh's body remains unclear, with some reports suggesting that it has not been recovered.

this is getting ridiculous 🀯, lebanon just wants some peace but israel keeps pushing boundaries, like what even is the point of a ceasefire agreement if the other side isn't taking it seriously? 🚫 drones flying low over beirut is insane, i mean we all know how much we value our freedom to fly planes around our country without being shot down... but can't israel just follow the rules for once?! 😩 and what's with the lack of response from the international community, shouldn't they be doing more to pressure israel into behaving? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm so upset 😭 about what happened to Ibrahim Salameh πŸ‘¨πŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ. It's just not right πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. I mean, can't we all just get along? 🀝 Israel and Lebanon need to work together to find a solution to their problems πŸ™.

The US envoy's comments about Lebanon bringing its weapons under control are super confusing πŸ€”. Is it going to make things better or worse? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I wish they would just focus on stopping the violence πŸ’₯.

I'm glad President Aoun is taking a stand πŸ’ͺ, but I hope his army can handle the situation without any more innocent lives lost πŸ˜“. This is all so frustrating 😩. Can't we find a way to peace and love? ❀️🌎

man this is getting outta hand 🀯 - i cant believe israel keeps disregarding those ceasefire agreements they gotta take it seriously πŸ™„ meanwhile lebanon is just trying to protect its people and territory πŸ’ͺ its all so complicated what's the point of having peace talks if u r just gonna keep escalating things? πŸ˜’ and omg dont even get me started on the drone sightings in Beirut that was straight scary πŸ’₯

I'm worried about this situation escalating further πŸ€•... I get why President Aoun is upset, but his order to confront Israeli incursions feels like a recipe for disaster ⚠️. We need to figure out what's really going on and how to de-escalate the situation before it's too late πŸ’‘. The fact that Israel disregarded their ceasefire agreement is unacceptable, but calling up the army might just push things in the wrong direction πŸ€–. Can we trust that Hezbollah is actually committed to complying with the deal? βš”οΈ

🀯 this is getting so intense... i'm literally shaking thinking about how Israel just disregarded a ceasefire agreement like that πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ the fact that they kept their troops in the area despite the deal makes me so angry πŸ’” and what's with these drones flying low over Beirut?!?!?! it's like they're taunting Lebanon on purpose 😑 president Aoun is right to mobilize his army, but I hope no one gets hurt unnecessarily 🀞 we need some serious diplomacy here, like a UN intervention or something... the US envoy said all this stuff about weapons control, but what's the point if Israel's just gonna keep violating Lebanese sovereignty?!?! πŸ’₯

This is so shady πŸ€”... like Israel just keeps pushing Lebanon around and now they're escalating things by having their army stand up to Israeli incursions? It feels like a clever move to distract from all the other shenanigans going on, you know? Like, have you noticed how that US envoy Ortagus was praising Lebanon's decision to bring all weapons under state control? Sounds suspiciously like a way to exert influence over their actions. 🀝 And what's up with these drones flying low over Beirut? Is Israel just trying to send a message or something? This whole thing reeks of politics as usual... but I'm not convinced it's not more than that πŸ˜’

πŸ˜’ its so sad 4 ibrahim salameh. how can israel keep disregarding ceasefire agreements? 🀯 they need to take responsibility 4 their actions & respect lebanese sovereignty πŸ™. US envoy praised lebanon's decision 2 bring weapons under state control, but whats the point if israel keeps violating agreements? πŸ€” its not just lebanon, whole middle east is suffering πŸŒͺ️

man, this is just getting out of hand 🀯... Israel can't seem to stop messing around Lebanon, and now they're just ignoring the ceasefire deal like it doesn't even matter πŸ™„. I'm not buying that they were just trying to retrieve drones in Beirut, sounds like an excuse for them to keep flexing their military muscles πŸ’ͺ. And what's with this US envoy saying nice things about Lebanon's decision to bring all its guns under control? does she have a vested interest in this? πŸ€‘... meanwhile we've got innocent people getting killed and the president is just telling his army to beef up security, hoping that'll solve everything? it won't πŸ˜’.

😑🚫 oh my god this is just getting out of hand 🀯 how can israel do this to lebanon again?! killing innocent people like ibrahim salameh just because they're in their own country?! it's like they think they can just waltz in and take whatever they want without consequences 🚫

and now president aoun has ordered his army to confront these incursions? that's just the beginning πŸ€” what's going to happen next? more airstrikes? more bloodshed? this is exactly why we need a stronger middle east alliance, but instead we're stuck with a bunch of dysfunctional governments and outdated treaties πŸ™„

and have you seen those drones flying low over beirut?! it's like they're taunting us, daring us to do something about it 😀 how can we trust the international community when our own neighbor is just disregarding all agreements? it's so frustrating! πŸ’₯

Ugh, great, just what we need, more drama in the Middle East πŸ™„πŸ’£. Can't these countries just get along for one second? It's like, yeah, Israel, you can do your thing, but don't even think about messing with Lebanon, got it? And meanwhile, Ibrahim Salameh is dead because of this. Like, what's the point of a ceasefire if nobody's actually going to follow through? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And I mean, come on, drones flying over Beirut? That's just chill, Israel πŸ˜’. It's like you're trying to make a statement or something. Newsflash: it's not cool. The US is all "good job, Lebanon" for bringing all the weapons under state control, but what's the actual point of that if the conflict just escalates further? πŸ€”

I don't know, maybe I'm just tired of all this tension and drama. Can we just have a peaceful day in the Middle East without any violence or conflicts? A guy can dream, right? 😴

πŸ€” This is getting outta hand 🚨. I mean, Israel keeps violating this ceasefire agreement and nobody seems to be doing anything about it πŸ’Έ. Like, how many times do you have to disregard an agreement before people take action? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The US envoy is giving Lebanon a shoutout for trying to bring order, but what's the point if Israel just won't play by the rules? πŸ™„ I need some sources on this situation, it feels like a whole lot of drama πŸ“Ί. And what's with the drones flying over Beirut? Is this just a sideshow while Lebanon deals with the real issue at hand? πŸ”

πŸ€” this is getting way outta hand... like what even is going on here? one minute its a ceasefire, next minuto they're just bombing away and then the army gets deployed to "confront" them... sounds super sketchy to me 🚫 how do we know the army's not gonna end up fightin' each other instead of the Israelis? also what happened to all the promises about disarmament and state control? seems like a whole lotta lip service πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

omg can't believe whats happening πŸ€―πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ύ israel really disregarding that ceasefire agreement? like, what even is the point of having an agreement if they're just gonna keep ignoring it? 😑 i feel for Ibrahim Salameh's family and all the other innocent ppl caught in the middle. his body should be recovered ASAP πŸ’€

and btw, why do we need to escalate this situation further? πŸ€” can't we just talk things out like civilized ppl? πŸ™ lebanon's trying to bring its weapons under state control and stuff, but it's hard to see how that's gonna help when israel's just keeping on invading 🚫

anywayz, i'm all for the Lebanese army standing up for themselves πŸ‘Š, but we should try to find a way out of this cycle of violence before more ppl get hurt πŸ’” let's keep calm and try to reason with each other 🀝

omg this is so messed up 😑 another innocent life lost because of israel's aggression i'm so tired of them disrespecting lebanese sovereignty... they need to stop these incursions ASAP and respect the ceasefire agreement they signed 🀬 what's the point of having a deal if they're just gonna ignore it? πŸ™„

omg this is getting out of hand!!! 🀯 Israel is literally always on the back foot when it comes to their actions against Lebanon - how many times can they get away with violating the ceasefire before something serious happens?! 😑 i'm so worried about ibrahim salameh's family and loved ones, his death is just devastating πŸ’” and now president aoun is telling his army to stand up for lebanon? finally some action! πŸ’ͺ but honestly what's going to happen next? is the us or anyone else even gonna put their foot down?! πŸ€”

omg I cant even right now... 🀯 this is so crazy what's going on in Lebanon rn 😩 the fact that someone was just sleeping and got killed by Israeli forces is just devastating πŸ’” I feel like the US envoy said something good about Lebanon trying to control its own weapons but it sounds like Israel is not taking that seriously at all πŸ™„ and now the Lebanese president has ordered his army to be on high alert... this is getting serious 😬 I just hope everyone stays safe and that there's a resolution soon πŸ’•
