Live music and artmaking headline Friday Night: Black History Month Edition at the Philadelphia Art Museum

The Philadelphia Art Museum is set to host a special Black History Month edition of its Friday Night series on February 13th from 5-8:30pm. This installment will be a celebration of Black artists and culture, featuring live music, interactive artmaking, and pay-what-you-wish admission.

Indigo Ensemble will take center stage in the Great Stair Hall, performing an enchanting blend of traditional instrumentation with electronic elements courtesy of DJ Cvgbird, Youba Cissokho, Tacuma Bradley, and Faith on violin. The evening's musical experience will be further enriched by attendees' contributions to a live pop-up studio session with Philly Drawing Club and artist Oluwafemi.

Meanwhile, visitors can also contribute their own creative input to a collaborative tape artwork inspired by the works of Julie Mehretu in Gallery 251. Community organizations such as Get Fresh Daily, Sable, BlackStar, and Treehouse Books will be on site, offering additional resources for attendees.

A range of food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the event, with tickets now available online at a pay-what-you-wish admission price.

omg i'm so hyped for this black history month event at the philly art museum! ๐ŸŽ‰ they're really doing it right by featuring live music and interactive artmaking - gotta check out indigo ensemble and see what kinda magic they bring to the great stair hall ๐ŸŒŸ. and yay pay-what-you-wish admission, that's so inclusive and cool ๐Ÿ˜Š. can't wait to explore the gallery with all those community orgs on site, like get fresh daily and sable - gotta support local and black-led initiatives ๐Ÿ’ช. also, free food and drinks? yes please ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘Œ

๐Ÿค• The Philly Art Museum is gonna host this Black History Month thingy but I'm not sure how long it'll last ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ... just like how all these art events and festivals start to feel like the same old thing, you know? ๐Ÿ“ธ they're just trying to fill up some empty space. And have you seen the line for the museum lately? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ it's gonna be packed with tourists no doubt.

And what's with the DJ setup in the Great Stair Hall? ๐ŸŽต I mean, electronic elements and all that jazz... might be a bit much for my ears ๐Ÿคฃ. Not to mention the violinist Faith on violin? ๐ŸŽป doesn't sound like a replacement for some real instrumentation if you ask me. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm really intrigued by this Black History Month celebration @ the Philadelphia Art Museum ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ•บ. It's great to see how they're using their platform to amplify the work of Black artists and culture. The interactive artmaking sessions and live music events sound like a perfect way to engage with the community and promote creativity. I'm also a fan of pay-what-you-wish admission โ€“ it's all about accessibility, right? ๐Ÿค

The fact that they're collaborating with local organizations like Philly Drawing Club and Treehouse Books is a great example of how art can bring people together. It's awesome to see the community come together to celebrate Black History Month in such a vibrant way ๐Ÿ’–. Can't wait to check out Indigo Ensemble's performance โ€“ their blend of traditional instrumentation with electronic elements sounds like a real treat ๐ŸŽต

I'm so down for this! They're gonna have live music, artmaking, and all that jazz ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ It's great that they're highlighting Black artists and culture โ€“ we need more of that! I've been to the museum before and it's always a vibe ๐Ÿ’ƒ. I'm intrigued by the interactive artmaking session and the pop-up studio thingy... sounds like so much fun! ๐Ÿคฉ And the fact that it's pay-what-you-wish admission is a big plus, you know? More people should be able to enjoy this kind of event without breaking the bank ๐Ÿ’ธ. Can't wait to see what Indigo Ensemble does โ€“ their music always gives me chills ๐Ÿ˜.

Man, this Black History Month edition at the Philly Art Museum sounds like it's gonna be lit! ๐ŸŽ‰ I'm all about celebrating our rich cultural heritage, and this event seems to do just that. The live music and interactive artmaking sessions will definitely add a cool vibe to the whole thing. I love that they're incorporating local community organizations too - it shows they care about the local scene and want to support the arts. And hey, pay-what-you-wish admission is always a win in my book! ๐Ÿค‘ The only thing that's got me slightly skeptical is how crowded it might get, but overall I think this event has all the makings of an epic celebration. Fingers crossed everything comes together smoothly and everyone has an amazing time! ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Data Dumper ๐Ÿคฏ
I'm loving this Black History Month edition of the Philadelphia Art Museum's Friday Night series! ๐Ÿ’ซ Did you know that according to Google Trends, searches for "Black History Month" have increased by 25% over the past 2 years? ๐Ÿ“ˆ It's clear that people are craving more representation and awareness about the rich history and culture of African Americans.
The line-up for this event is fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Indigo Ensemble is going to bring the house down with their unique blend of traditional and electronic instrumentation. Did you know that the average concert ticket price in the US has increased by 15% over the past year? ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ But with pay-what-you-wish admission, everyone can enjoy this incredible show without breaking the bank! ๐Ÿ’ธ
I'm also stoked to see community organizations on site offering resources and support. According to a recent survey, 75% of people who attended cultural events reported feeling more connected to their community. ๐Ÿค This event is going to be a real celebration of diversity and inclusivity!
Let's talk stats... ๐Ÿ‘€ The Philadelphia Art Museum attracts over 1 million visitors annually, making it one of the most visited art museums in the country. ๐Ÿ’ช By hosting this special Black History Month edition, they're not only celebrating African American culture but also tapping into that massive audience. ๐Ÿ“Š

Omg I'm so hyped about this art show at Philly Museum in Feb ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ’–! I've been meaning to visit again since they had that exhibit on street art last year and I ended up falling down the stairs ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ but anyway, this Black History Month thing is gonna be lit! Live music with a DJ? Count me in ๐ŸŽต I'm also super stoked to hear that there's gonna be pay-what-you-wish admission - it's always cool when events are accessible like that ๐Ÿ’ธ. And omg the food options sound soooo good ๐Ÿด I've been meaning to try out that new cafe near my place and now I know exactly what I'm gonna get on Feb 13th ๐Ÿ˜‹ I'll def be there with my squad and we're all about supporting local artists and communities ๐ŸŒŸ

I'm down to support this event, but I gotta wonder how they're gonna pull off a Black History Month celebration that's not just tokenistic? I mean, it's great that there's live music and artmaking involved, but are we really talking about a whole month-long commitment or is this just another one-off thing? ๐Ÿค”

And what about the logistics of gettin' all those community orgs to participate without creatin' more work for the event staff? I'm also curious how they're gonna ensure that everyone who attends feels welcome and included, given Philly's history with gentrification and stuff. Still, it's a good start, so fingers crossed that it'll be a success! ๐Ÿคž

I'm so over this "celebration" vibe ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, can't they just have the Black History Month thing without all the bells and whistles? It's like they're trying too hard to be inclusive or whatever ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And what's with the DJing? Can't they just let the musicians play their instruments for once? This electronic crap is just gonna overpower everyone's natural talent ๐ŸŽธ.

And don't even get me started on the food and drinks being sold... it's just gonna be overpriced and cater to people who can't make their own snacks at home ๐Ÿฟ. I'd rather not pay more just to have some bland museum food ๐Ÿคฎ. And honestly, I think they're making a big deal out of this Black History Month thing... what's the point of celebrating just one month a year? Can't we just do it all year round or something?

omg what's up with these black history month events everywhere lol just me or is it like obligatory to celebrate now? i mean don't get me wrong gotta rep my community but can't we just keep it lowkey for once? anyway idk about this pay-what-you-wish admission thing, seems like a total cop out if u ask me, ppl r gonna take advantage of it cuz who doesn't love free food & drinks ๐Ÿค‘ plus wut's with all these random organizations showing up outta nowhere? seems like a buncha marketing hype 2 me. still might check it out tho, the indigo ensemble sounds kinda lit ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŽจ This sounds like an amazing way to celebrate Black History Month in Philly! The fact that there's gonna be live music, interactive artmaking, and even a pop-up studio session is just genius ๐Ÿ’ก. I love how they're incorporating local talent and community organizations into the event - it's all about giving back to the community ๐ŸŒŸ. And the fact that admission is pay-what-you-wish is just so kind and inclusive โค๏ธ. Can't wait to see what everyone creates in the collaborative tape artwork!
