Liverpool 4-1 Newcastle: Hugo Ekitike draws Fernando Torres comparison as he haunts former admirers Newcastle

Liverpool's 4-1 win over Newcastle United was a crushing blow to the Magpies, who had been searching for a way to break down Liverpool's defense all night. Hugo Ekitike, the French forward, played a pivotal role in the match, scoring twice and creating opportunities for his teammates.

Ekitike's first goal was a well-taken finish from 36 minutes, which gave Newcastle a surprise lead. However, he quickly responded with another goal just before halftime, doubling his tally to two goals and taking him above 15 Premier League goals in all competitions.

The second-half goals were scored by Liverpool players Anthony Gordon and Curtis Jones, respectively, as the Reds secured their fourth win on the trot. Ekitike's performance was compared to that of former Liverpool legend Fernando Torres, who won numerous honors during his time at Anfield.

Torres had famously announced himself with a goal against Chelsea in 2007, scoring from just inside the box before hitting the post and then slotting it home from the rebound. It was a moment similar to Ekitike's poacher-like finish in front of Newcastle.

Hugo Ekitike has now scored six goals for Liverpool since joining the club last summer. He became the youngest player to reach double figures in all competitions, which is something only Michael Owen achieved back in 2000-01

I was just thinking about that new coffee shop that just opened up downtown... have you tried it yet? I mean, they claim to have the best cappuccino in town and I'm like, "Really?" But then I saw their Instagram posts and they had some cute baristas so maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, back to football... that Ekitike guy is something else, right? I mean, 15 goals in all competitions at just 22 years old? That's crazy fast! And his finishing skills are insane, reminds me of that one time I made a killer pasta dish for my friend's birthday party 🍝. But yeah, Liverpool's defense was pretty solid last night...
