Maduro not a head of state, US says at UN Security Council

US Envoy Slams Maduro as 'Illegitimate So-Called President' at UN Security Council

The United States has reiterated its position that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is not a legitimate head of state, calling him an "illegitimate so-called president" during a heated exchange at the UN Security Council.

The US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, made the comments on Monday in reference to the Trump administration's long-held stance that the 2019 raid on Caracas' military base, where Maduro was placed under house arrest, was actually a law enforcement operation rather than a military coup.

However, it appears that this distinction may be lost on Maduro and his supporters. In an apparent jab at Washington's stance, Maduro had described himself as "President of the Republic" in his re-election campaign last year.

Waltz argued that such claims by the Venezuelan leader are a "mockery of democracy" and underscored that US support for opposition figures, including Juan Guaido, who was recognized as interim president, remains strong.

๐Ÿ˜’ Maduro's got some nerve thinking he can just waltz in here (pun intended) and call himself the President of the Republic? Like, no thanks, dude! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ He's been dodging accountability for years and now he's trying to pull this democracy card on us? Give me a break! ๐Ÿ’จ The guy's a master manipulator and we shouldn't be buying what he's selling. Meanwhile, the opposition is still fighting for their rights and the US is showing them some much-needed support. Maduro might have his fanboys, but I've got my eyes on him - and I'm not impressed ๐Ÿ˜

OMG, have you seen those new Avocado Toast recipes on TikTok? ๐Ÿคฏ Like, I'm not even kidding, they're using actual truffle oil now and it's giving me LIFE ๐Ÿ’–. But anyway, back to Venezuela... I mean, who needs a president when you can just make yourself the "President of the Republic" like Maduro? ๐Ÿ˜‚ It's like, isn't that just called a dictatorship or something? ๐Ÿค” And what's up with these UN Security Council meetings, always so dramatic! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm getting so tired of these politics in Venezuela ๐Ÿคฏ! Maduro's just being stubborn and refusing to acknowledge reality, you know? Like, the guy was placed under house arrest and suddenly he's all legit again? ๐Ÿ™„ It's like trying to fix a leaky pipe with super glue... not gonna work. Mike Waltz is right, though - if Maduro's gonna call himself President of the Republic, at least have the decency to accept that the US recognizes Juan Guaido as a legitimate leader. I mean, come on, Venezuelan people deserve better than this back-and-forth nonsense. ๐Ÿค

I'm getting really frustrated with the whole situation in Venezuela ๐Ÿคฏ. It's like, the US is trying to dictate what's legitimate and not, but at the same time they're also fueling the fire by supporting Juan Guaido and all that. I mean, can't they just take a step back and try to understand where everyone else is coming from? Maduro's claims about democracy might be seen as cheesy by some, but it's still his democratic right to say so ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ. The US should focus on supporting the people of Venezuela rather than trying to undermine their government ๐ŸŒŽ. It's all about perspective, right?

๐Ÿค” I'm surprised Mike Waltz is still playing hardball with Maduro like this. It feels like they're stuck in the past ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ, you know? The whole US-Venezuela thing has been super complicated for ages. And what's with the "illegitimate so-called president" comment? ๐Ÿ˜’ It just feels dismissive and kinda mean-spirited. I get that the US is trying to promote democracy and all that, but can't they just have a more nuanced conversation about it? ๐Ÿ’ฌ

I don't know why they keep calling it a coup ๐Ÿค”... looks like Maduro's got some legit beefs with the US, knows? I mean, you can see both sides of this coin - one side says it's all about keeping democracy alive and supporting people who want to take over, the other side says it's just a power play. Either way, it's not helping Venezuela right now ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... Maduro seems like he's holding on tight, hoping some sort of miracle happens for him.

I cant believe what's happening with Venezuela ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, can you imagine if our school principal said they're still in charge when we all know it's the vice principal who's been doing all the work behind the scenes? ๐Ÿ˜‚ It would be like, super weird and unfair to everyone else.

But seriously, it's not cool how Maduro is denying his own illegitimacy. I think he should just admit that Juan Guaido was right and move on from there ๐Ÿ’ก. And honestly, I'm kinda surprised the US isn't being more supportive of Venezuela's opposition - we've got our own student council leaders who are always working behind the scenes to make things better for everyone ๐Ÿค.

It's just a shame that politics can be so messy and complicated like a really long math homework assignment ๐Ÿ“š. But hey, at least we can all learn from it and try to do better next time โญ๏ธ

I mean, think about it, what does it really mean when we call someone 'illegitimate'? Is it just a label thrown around to suit our own agendas? Like, how can one person's legitimacy be questioned by another? It's always the same story - power struggles, ego clashes... and at the end of the day, who gets to decide what's 'real' and what's not? ๐Ÿค” The more I think about it, the more I realize that our perception of reality is just a construct, shaped by our own experiences, biases, and perspectives. It's like we're all living in this never-ending loop of self-referential truth, where everyone's trying to outmaneuver each other. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Can we ever truly know what's 'legitimate' or not? I don't think so...

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ this is getting old - Maduro's still in power? seems like the whole world is just letting him get away with it ๐Ÿ™„ US needs to step up and provide some real support to the Venezuelan people, not just throw around words about democracy and opposition figures ๐Ÿ‘Š

๐Ÿค” I'm like totally confused about this whole situation with Maduro... I mean, he's been in power for so long, but the US is still saying he's not legit? Like, what's good? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And it's interesting how his supporters are taking a shot at Washington, calling them hypocrites and all that. It feels like this whole thing is getting more complicated by the day... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The US is basically saying Maduro can't be trusted to hold an election, but what about the 2019 raid? Wasn't that kinda shady too? ๐Ÿค” Anyway, it's clear that both sides have a lot of anger and distrust towards each other... ๐Ÿ’ฅ And I'm just over here wondering how all this will play out in the end. ๐Ÿคž

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ this is crazy how politics can get so heated at the UN Security Council ๐Ÿคฏ especially when it comes to issues like Maduro's legitimacy ๐Ÿ’ผ interesting how the Trump admin thought of that raid as a law enforcement op rather than a military coup ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway it looks like the US and Venezuela are still far apart on this one ๐Ÿšซ

๐Ÿคฏ I mean, can you believe this guy Maduro is still trying to cling on to power? It's like, he thinks he's all cool and legit just because he said "President of the Republic" on the campaign trail... please. The US isn't having it, and honestly, who should they? The whole thing with the military base raid and Guaido being recognized as interim president is still super murky to me, but if the US is going all in for democracy, I'm down for it too ๐Ÿ’ฏ. It's crazy how politics can get so messy and personal... Maduro needs to step up his game or step aside, no cap ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Ugh, can you believe what's going on in Venezuela?! ๐Ÿคฏ I've been following this situation for ages, and it's just getting more and more complicated. Like, come on, Maduro, if you're not a legitimate head of state, why do you still get to use that title? It's like you're playing games with democracy, and it's so frustrating. ๐Ÿ˜ค And the US is right to call him out for it - it's time someone spoke truth to power! ๐Ÿ’ช As a human being, I think we should all be rooting for Juan Guaido and his crew, they seem like the only ones trying to bring some sense of normalcy back to Venezuela. ๐ŸŒŽ It's just heartbreaking to see what's happening over there... ๐Ÿ˜”

OMG u guys i cant even right now lol so like i was watching this convo between Mike Waltz & Maduro at the UN Security Council and i was dying ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ i mean Maduro is just trying to play it cool but like Waltz isnt having it ๐Ÿ™„ and honestly i think he's right Maduro does sound super dodgy when he calls himself "President of the Republic" ๐Ÿ˜’ like how can u claim that when ur whole legitimacy is already called into question ๐Ÿค” and i love how Waltz called him out for it ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ but at the same time i feel bad for Maduro's supporters cuz they're just trying to support their countryman but idk i think we gotta see it from a different angle ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ maybe someone can explain why Maduro is still in power ๐Ÿค”

i just dont get why madridos gotta keep sayin hes not legit president lol ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, usa is stuck on this cuz they think maduro took power in 2019 and now its like hes some kinda thug in a bad movie ๐Ÿ’ฅ but honestly, venezuela's had enough of their politics already! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ we should just let the venezuelans sort it out on their own, you feel? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿคž I'm so proud of all the Venezuelans out there fighting for their rights! It's crazy to think about how far Maduro has come from his 'President of the Republic' claims last year ๐Ÿ˜‚. The US is still sticking by Juan Guaido and it shows they care about the people's voice. It's not easy being an opposition figure, especially when you're up against a leader who doesn't respect democracy. Keep going, Venezuela! ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ’ช Your future leaders are counted on us! ๐Ÿ’•
