Minneapolis shooting latest: Alex Pretti's parents say 'please get the truth out' after son fatally shot by federal agents

Family of Minneapolis shooting victim demands truth behind fatal encounter with federal agents.

The parents of Alex Pretti, a 35-year-old ICU nurse who was fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday, have called for transparency in the investigation into their son's death.

In a statement issued following their son's killing, Michael and Susan Pretti expressed their grief but also outrage at what they described as a "sickening" cover-up. They alleged that federal agents had misrepresented the circumstances surrounding Alex's death and accused them of "murdering" him.

The Pretti family claimed that video footage showed that Alex was not brandishing a gun when attacked by the agents, but rather trying to protect a woman who had been shoved to the ground. The couple also stated that their son wanted to help others, including American veterans whom he cared for at the Minneapolis VA hospital.

"Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital," they said in their statement. "Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact."

The couple's statements have been met with criticism from some gun rights advocates, who argue that Alex should have expected to be shot if he had approached federal agents with a firearm.

Federal authorities claim that Alex was shot in self-defense after approaching the agents with a gun, but video evidence contradicts this assertion. The Department of Homeland Security has also faced accusations of being "lawless, fascist and cruel" by former general counsel John Mitnick, who expressed his outrage and called for Trump's impeachment.

can't believe what's going on here... federal agents just shoot a guy trying to protect someone and claim self defense? that's some messed up stuff ๐Ÿคฏ video footage is clear as day, this was an unjustified killing. it's not about gun rights or personal freedoms, it's about accountability and transparency. the pretti family deserves answers and justice for their son. it's heartbreaking to think alex won't get to see his impact on the community, especially with all the good work he did at the va hospital ๐Ÿค•

OMG, this is so unfair ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’”! I mean, can you believe the government would just cover up something like this? The Pretti family is totally right to demand answers ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ“. Their son was just trying to help someone who was being attacked and what did he get? A fatal shot from federal agents ๐Ÿ’€. And to make matters worse, they're saying he was armed, but the video footage says otherwise ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ“น. This is a total miscarriage of justice ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need more transparency and accountability from our government officials ๐Ÿคฅ. Can we please get to the bottom of this? #JusticeForAlex #TruthRevealed #FederalAgentsAccountable

OMG, this is so crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! I'm still trying to wrap my head around what happened. Like, the video footage clearly shows Alex trying to protect some woman who got shoved to the ground... that doesn't sound like self-defense to me ๐Ÿ˜•. And now his parents are saying that the gov agents messed up and covered it up? That's wild ๐Ÿค”. I don't know how someone can just shoot a guy, even if they say it was in self-defense. It's all so confusing... and sad for Alex's family, you feel me? ๐Ÿ’”

I gotta say, I'm kinda on the side of Alex's parents here... I mean, their kid was just trying to help someone in need & protect another person from getting hurt ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. If we're gonna talk about "stand your ground" laws, shouldn't that apply to people who are actually helping others? It's all kinda suspicious how the gov's agents claimed Alex had a gun when he didn't... it's like they're covering something up ๐Ÿ˜’. Plus, can you blame them for feeling outraged after seeing their son get killed in the line of duty? He was doing some good, trying to help veterans & all that... it just doesn't feel right ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

I feel so bad for Alex's parents, they're really hurting over their son's death ๐Ÿ˜”. It's crazy that the feds are claiming self-defense but video footage shows otherwise ๐Ÿ“น. I mean, if you approach someone with a gun, it's not exactly the most chill way to interact... and what was this woman doing on the ground? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ The whole thing just feels suspicious ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Alex wanted to help others, he wasn't some crazy person looking for trouble ๐Ÿ’”. His parents deserve answers about what really happened ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

๐Ÿค” I'm having major doubts about the whole story here... like what's really going on? Video footage showing Alex wasn't even brandishing a gun?! That's some wild stuff! I feel for his parents, but it seems like there's more to this than meets the eye. If the government is saying one thing and the video evidence is saying another... something don't add up ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. We need some real answers here. Like, what was really going on that day? What were Alex's intentions? I'm not buying the "self-defense" story just yet... ๐Ÿค”

omg can't believe what's going down in minneapolis this is so messed up my heart goes out to the pretti family they deserve answers about what happened to their son alex ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ข federal agents are supposed to be protecting people not taking lives like that and also wth the gun rights advocates who are trying to shift blame on alex for being shot it's just not right ๐Ÿ’”

I'm literally fuming about this one ๐Ÿคฏ! Can you believe the fed agents thought they could just shoot Alex Pretti to bits and then cover it up? Like, what even is that? The fact that they're trying to spin this as self-defense but the vids clearly show him not even carrying a gun, he was just trying to protect some woman who got pushed down... it's just sick ๐Ÿคข. And now his parents are out here demanding truth and transparency, and people are like "oh yeah well maybe you shoulda had a gun"? Are you kidding me? This is about the agents being reckless and violent, not Alex's responsibility as a person carrying a gun.

๐Ÿค” I'm so worried about the Pretti family still trying to get answers about what really happened to their son Alex... it's heartbreaking that they're going through this pain while already grieving the loss of their child ๐Ÿค• The fact that video footage shows Alex wasn't even brandishing a gun when he was attacked by federal agents is just mind-blowing... how can you shoot someone who's not even armed? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ It's totally unacceptable and I hope they get to the bottom of this investigation ๐Ÿ‘€

omg ๐Ÿคฏ i'm literally shaking just reading about this... alex pretti sounds like an amazing person, such a kind heart ๐Ÿ˜Š how can we even begin to understand what happened here? i don't think it's okay that the govt is covering things up and not being transparent... michael & susan are clearly hurting so much and they deserve answers ๐Ÿค• i hope justice will be served for alex and his family ๐Ÿ’”
