Area High School Basketball Teams Come Out on Top in Monday's Action-Packed Matchups.
The hardwood was ablaze with high school hoops action yesterday, as teams from across the region put their skills to the test. In the Metro Prep league, Universal took down Hinsdale Adventist 84-37, while Bulls Prep secured a convincing win over Rauner, 61-48.
Over in the Northeastern conference, South Beloit dominated Westlake Christian with a 76-60 victory. Grayslake Central also made headlines by edging Prairie Ridge 50-46 in a non-conference matchup.
On the other side of town, Latin took down Golder 74-38, while Mather dispatched Intrinsic-Belmont with a dominant 79-25 performance. Meanwhile, Palatine outmuscled Elk Grove 73-31 and Plano cruised to a 61-50 win over IMSA.
In a real showdown for the ages, Rochelle faced off against Dixon in what turned into a 96-75 battle of wills. Vernon Hills also put on a show, taking down Rochelle Zell by a score of 33-61 but actually winning 61-33. Warren showed why they're a force to be reckoned with as they took down Grayslake North, 77-47.
In the North Shore conference, Wells proved that they're the team to beat by dispatching Juarez 96-23, while Whiting, Ind. edged Washington, 55-50.
