Netflix CEO made a visit to the White House before buying Warner Bros.

Netflix's CEO, Ted Sarandos, may have underestimated the Trump administration's ability to block a deal when he met with President Donald Trump last November. In that meeting, Sarandos discussed his company's plan to acquire Warner Bros. and claimed that Netflix wouldn't face "immediate opposition" from the White House.

This assertion proved to be incorrect as Netflix ultimately won the bidding war for Warner Bros., paying $82.7 billion in a deal that was previously thought to be out of reach. The acquisition is a significant win for Sarandos, who had already tried to acquire Paramount before David Ellison swooped in and bid on Warner Bros.

Ellison and his father, Larry Ellison, have close ties to the White House and had suggested that they were better equipped to overcome regulatory hurdles associated with further media consolidation. However, it appears that their efforts may not have been enough to sway the administration.

While there's still a chance that Paramount could launch a hostile takeover effort or that the Justice Department could try and scuttle the deal, for now, Netflix has secured the acquisition of Warner Bros. The success of this deal marks a significant victory for Sarandos and sets the stage for future growth and expansion for the streaming giant.

omg can u believe ted sarandos' confidence 🤯 like he thought the trumps would just roll over for him? anyway, i think it's kinda cool that netflix pulled off this massive acquisition 💸 but now that we know the real reason why it happened, maybe they should've been more careful what they wished for 🤑 those regulatory hurdles might be a whole lot harder to navigate than sarandos thought 😬

idk how sarandos thought he was gonna get away with that 😂 anyway i guess trump's admin didnt play along as expected, but it's kinda weird that paramount tried to swoop in last minute, i mean don't they know sarandos is already a big deal? lol guess you never really know what's gonna happen in these things. on the bright side for netflix, this is def a huge win and will likely boost their streaming game big time 💸

I'm low-key surprised they were able to get past the Trump admin 😂! I mean, Ted Sarandos must've been like "oh, we'll just chill, no biggie" 🤣. And now Netflix is swimming in cash 💸 - this acquisition is a major game-changer for them. The fact that Paramount's bid tanked 🚫 is pretty interesting too... did they have some hidden agenda or what? Anyway, Sarandos must be doing the happy dance right now 🎉!

I'm not surprised that Netflix came out on top with their Warner Bros. deal 🤑. I mean, think about it - those Trump folks might have been talking the talk, but when it comes down to it, who's got the clout to actually make deals happen? 😏 Ted Sarandos must've had some solid backup planning in place or just a knack for reading people. Either way, this is huge for Netflix and I'm stoked to see what they do with all that extra Warner Bros. cash 💸. The real question now is how's Paramount gonna recover from coming up short? 🤔

I'm thinking Netflix's CEO was being way too confident when he said no biggie about the White House blocking the deal lol 🤦‍♂️. Turns out, Trump's team is more powerful than we thought! 😂 The fact that Netflix still managed to get Warner Bros. is huge for their growth and expansion plans, but it's also pretty wild that they could pull this off in a time where regulatory hurdles are so high 🤑. I wonder what would've happened if David Ellison had been the one who came out on top? Would things have played out differently? 🤔

I'm shocked Netflix won that huge deal 🤯! I mean, even Ted Sarandos thought he was safe from Trump's team 🙄. It's crazy how much power those big studios have in Washington 🤑. And yeah, Ellison's family connections didn't seem to help them out much either 😐. But hey, Netflix is on fire right now 🔥! They must be doing something right 💸. Can't wait to see what other movies and shows they get their hands on 🍿📺

I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised that Ted Sarandos underestimated the Trump administration's ability to block a deal... 🤔 Not saying he was wrong or anything, but you'd think with all those connections Larry Ellison has, it would've been easier to get this done 🤑. Maybe Sarandos really did believe he had the upper hand and just got lucky? Either way, I'm glad Netflix came out on top - this acquisition is gonna be huge for them! 💸
