New SJ DOCA Festival features holiday light displays inspired by local children's drawings

South Bay Residents Get to Experience a Magical Holiday Light Display Designed by Local Children

The South Bay in California is welcoming a brand new holiday light display, the DOCA Festival, for the 2025 holiday season. Officially opening to the public on Friday night and running through January 4, 2026, this festival boasts five glowing acres, six magical zones, and over 40 handmade attractions that visitors can explore.

The unique aspect of this festival is its community-driven approach, where local children played a significant role in designing some of the artwork. A contest was held to encourage kids' creativity, which eventually led to the creation of larger-than-life characters and structures within the festival grounds. The co-founders of the DOCA Festival, Wan Zhao and Yixin, are passionate about bringing families together through art and imagination.

According to Zhao, "We came up with one simple question: how can we bring stories, art and families together to have an immersive experience? And here we are." This vision is reflected in the festival's design, which aims to make people reconnect with their inner child. The event features a range of attractions, from walk-through exhibits to drive-thru displays, ensuring something for everyone.

As part of its holiday season programming, the DOCA Festival has lined up various events and activities, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's celebrations. Visitors can also explore other holiday light displays in the South Bay, such as Christmas in the Park's Blinky's Drive Thru at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds.

With ticket prices and requirements available on their website, visitors are encouraged to check out this unique and enchanting holiday experience designed by the community for the community.

Another year, another bunch of people pretending everything is okay ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. So, California's got a new "magical" light display that was designed by local kids... how original ๐Ÿ™„. Like we haven't seen enough of this before. The fact that it was community-driven just means more people will be out in the cold and traffic to look at overpriced lights ๐Ÿ’ธ. And what's really magical about a bunch of handmade attractions and zones? Not much, if you ask me... ๐ŸŽจ

๐Ÿ˜Š I love that the kids got a say in designing the festival lights - it's so cool to see their creativity shine through! It's like they're bringing a touch of magic to the streets. ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ The idea of making people reconnect with their inner child is so beautiful. I can imagine how enchanting it must be to walk through an immersive art experience that sparks imagination and wonder in everyone who visits. ๐ŸŒŸ The fact that it's community-driven just makes it even more special - it's like the whole town came together to create something truly unique! ๐Ÿ‘ซ

omg I'm so down for a magical night of lights in south bay! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŒƒ i mean who wouldn't wanna see what kids came up with in a design contest? it's like they say, let the kids be in charge and watch them create something amazing ๐Ÿ˜Š. I've been to those christmas in the park displays and I'm hyped for this one too. Wan Zhao and Yixin sound like total dream team for bringing families together through art... can't wait to check out this immersive experience ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘

I'm utterly fascinated by the DOCA Festival, a testament to the power of community-driven creativity ๐Ÿคฉ. The fact that local children were involved in designing some of the artwork is truly remarkable, showcasing the importance of nurturing young talent and imagination ๐Ÿ’ก. It's wonderful to see a festival that prioritizes family bonding and immersive experiences, rather than just commercial appeal ๐ŸŽ‰.

I must say, I'm intrigued by the co-founders' approach to art and storytelling, which seems to be centered around rekindling people's inner child wonder โœจ. The range of attractions, from walk-through exhibits to drive-thru displays, caters to diverse interests and age groups, making it an inclusive event for all visitors ๐ŸŽŠ.

What I love most about this festival is its ability to bring families together through art and imagination, creating a shared experience that transcends the ordinary holiday light display ๐ŸŒŸ. It's heartwarming to see a community-driven initiative that truly reflects the values of connection, creativity, and joy โค๏ธ.

I'm so hyped about the DOCA Festival ๐ŸŽ‰! I think it's amazing that local kids got to design some of the artwork - it shows how talented they are ๐Ÿ˜. And the whole community-driven vibe is just magical โœจ. Wan Zhao and Yixin did an incredible job creating something that's not just beautiful but also fun for all ages ๐Ÿคฉ. I'm definitely gonna check out the festival with my family, especially since we can explore walk-through exhibits and drive-thru displays ๐Ÿš—. It's like they say, "bring back the wonder of childhood" - I think that's exactly what this festival does ๐Ÿ”ฎ. Can't wait to see it in person! ๐Ÿ‘

idk about this one... a whole festival just for holiday lights? feels like just another thing to spend money on ๐Ÿค”. and what's with all these handmade attractions? can't they just use some drones or something to save time and resources? also, isn't it kinda weird that kids designed the majority of the artwork? don't get me wrong, I love seeing community involvement, but is this really necessary for a holiday display ๐ŸŽ„.

omg ๐Ÿคฉ i'm so stoked about the new doca festival in south bay! it's like a dream come true for families and kids alike ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐ŸŽ“ those little creators are geniuses ๐Ÿ”ฅ i love that they got to design some of the art and structures, it's like their imagination came to life ๐ŸŒŸ can't wait to explore all 5 acres and see the magical zones ๐ŸŽŠ also, drive-thru displays sound like so much fun ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘€ gotta try it out with the fam this holiday season ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm low-key obsessed with the new light display in South Bay ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ„... I mean, who wouldn't want to walk through a magical zone that's straight out of your childhood dreams? ๐Ÿคฉ The fact that it was designed by local kids is super cool too - love how they get to express themselves and bring their ideas to life. Plus, the whole thing feels so community-driven and inclusive... like a big ol' family hug ๐Ÿ˜Š. I'm definitely checking it out this holiday season!

Ugh, great, another overhyped event that's just gonna be a tourist trap ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, who needs 5 whole acres of lights when you've got actual art or culture? And what's with the "community-driven" nonsense? Just a bunch of entitled kids getting paid for their Instagram posts ๐Ÿ“ธ. And don't even get me started on the ticket prices... just another way to squeeze money from people's wallets ๐Ÿ’ธ. It's all just a bunch of commercialized hooey, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜’.

OMG u guys, I just found out about this insane holiday light display in South Bay Cali ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒŸ! It's literally 5 acres of magic with kids as the designers!!! Can u believe it?! They had a contest and now we've got these EPIC characters and structures ๐Ÿคฉ. The founders are all about bringing families together through art & imagination, which I am SO here for ๐Ÿ’–. We need more stuff like this in our lives, you know? It's not just some cheesy lights show, it's an EXPERIENCE ๐ŸŽŠ. And the best part is, they're doing all these other events too... Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. I'm totes going to check it out! ๐Ÿ’•

I'm not sure about all this holiday light display business ๐Ÿค”... I mean, it's super cute that local kids got to design some of the artwork, but 5 glowing acres? That sounds like a lot of twinkly lights to me... and 40 handmade attractions? Is it just a big ol' sugar high for kids (and let's be real, adults too)? ๐ŸŽ…๏ธ I'm all for community-driven events, but is this thing gonna break the bank or what? And what's up with the drive-thru displays? Like, can't we just walk around and enjoy the lights like normal people? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ก

๐ŸŽ„ I think it's super cool that local kids got to design some of the artwork for this festival! It's like, they're already learning so much about art and creativity in school, but now they get to see their ideas come to life on a huge scale ๐Ÿคฏ. And it's awesome that the founders are all about bringing families together through imagination... I mean, who doesn't love a good holiday light display, right? ๐ŸŒŸ The fact that there are so many different attractions and activities for all ages is just perfect for the whole family to enjoy together ๐Ÿ’•. Can't wait to check it out when it opens!

๐ŸŽ‰ OMG, you guys! I've got the deets on the new DOCA Festival in South Bay! ๐Ÿคซ Apparently, Wan Zhao and Yixin had a super rad idea to let kids design some of the artwork โ€“ talk about empowering youth! ๐Ÿ”ฅ It's like they took that kid energy and turned it into this MAGICAL winter wonderland ๐ŸŒ™. And can we talk about how adorable the characters are?! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm low-key obsessed with the whole community-driven vibe, too. They're all about bringing families together through art & imagination ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘ช. The event is gonna be so lit โ€“ walk-through exhibits, drive-thru displays... what's not to love? ๐Ÿคฉ

omg i wish my school had a light display like that ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒƒ it would be so cool if we could have one in our school parking lot or something! imagine all our friends and family coming to check it out with us ๐Ÿคฉ and we get to design some of the lights too, that would be amazing!!! ๐ŸŽจ maybe we can even convince my school to do a community art project like that for our school's winter break ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘

I'm so down for this ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿผ! A festival where kids get to design the lights and attractions? Genius! I mean, who better to bring magic to a holiday display than a bunch of curious and creative kiddos? It's like they say, 'You can take the kid outta the house, but you can't take the house outta the kid' ๐Ÿ˜Š. This festival sounds like a great way to get everyone in the holiday spirit. I'm curious to see what kind of masterpieces these little designers come up with! ๐ŸŽจ

Ugh, I'm so over these super cheesy holiday events ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ™„. Like, who thought it was a good idea to have a whole festival dedicated to kids designing the lights? Don't get me wrong, it's cute and all, but is it really necessary? Can't we just stick with the traditional Christmas markets and stuff? The whole thing just feels like a cringeworthy attempt at getting people to spend money. And the fact that it's only in the South Bay makes me wonder if they're trying to cater specifically to locals or if there's just not enough demand elsewhere ๐Ÿค”.

omg u guys i just found out about this amazing holiday light display in south bay california its like a whole 5 acres of magical wonderland designed by local kids!!! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ”ฅ they even held a contest to get the designs and now we have these incredible handmade attractions that are, like, whoa!

i love how the founders Wan Zhao and Yixin went all out to bring families together through art and imagination its so heartwarming. and i cant wait to check it out with my family this season theyre having all sorts of events and activities too, from thanksgiving to new years celebrations.

i think what i love most about this festival is that its not just for kids its really something for everyone whether u like walk-through exhibits or drive-thru displays there's somethin for every age. and the best part? its community driven so we get to enjoy it too ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ„ I'm so stoked about the new DOCA Festival in South Bay! It's amazing how kids can come up with such creative ideas that bring magic to the whole community. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a giant animated snowman or an interactive light show designed by local kids? It's all about bringing families together and having fun, you know? ๐Ÿคฉ The way they're making it interactive with exhibits and drive-thru displays is just genius. My little ones are going to love this! Can't wait to check it out myself this weekend ๐Ÿ’ซ

Ugh, I'm so down for a magical holiday light display ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ”ฅ, but at the same time I'm like, what's the point of all these big corporations getting in on the act? Like, can't they just let some smaller, community-driven projects thrive without trying to cash in on them? And don't get me wrong, it's awesome that local kids got a say in designing the displays, but are we really gonna need to shell out $20 for a ticket to see 'em? Can't we just have a free night or something and enjoy the lights for what they're worth, you know? ๐Ÿค” Still, I guess if I'm gonna go through with it, I wanna make sure I check this DOCA Festival out. Those glowin' acres do sound pretty epic! ๐Ÿ”ฎ
