Nintendo reveals its first Switch 2 Joy-Con color variant

Nintendo has revealed its first batch of color variants for the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers, and they're a bit of an enigma. The two new hues - light purple and light green - are set to arrive alongside Mario Tennis Fever on February 12th, and are now available for pre-order at $100 per controller.

Interestingly, these new controllers have a unique design feature: the colors are only visible on the inner rails, meaning that when connected to a Switch 2 console, they'll be barely visible except around the thumbsticks. This is a departure from previous Joy-Con color variants, which covered the entire shell. The light purple and green hues also clash with the existing light blue and orange strips on the console.

When it comes to features, these new Joy-Con controllers are standard - they include motion controls, HD rumble, the C Button for GameChat, and mouse controls for compatible games. But Nintendo has released a lengthy gameplay video for Mario Tennis Fever to coincide with the pre-order announcement, which gives fans a glimpse of what's in store.

The gameplay video reveals key features like "fever shots," an ice racket, and moves like slides and dives. It's clear that the game will be fast-paced and action-packed, and with these new Joy-Con controllers on the way, it'll be easier for players to experience the game in all its glory.

I'm so over this whole color scheme thing 🙄... Light purple and green? Are they trying to blind us or something? 😂 But I gotta admit, the gameplay video for Mario Tennis Fever looks like a blast! Those "fever shots" sound insane! And can we talk about how cute the new Joy-Con controllers are? The inner rails design is so unique, but at $100 per controller, it's a bit too rich for my blood 💸. What do you guys think? Are these new colors gonna be all over the place or are they just a one-time thing? 🤔

idk why nintendo is doin this 2 the switch 2 joy-con controllers... they're like a weird surprise? light purple & green are cool i guess, but why not just make them standard colors like everyone else? now you can barely see 'em when u play games lol. and it's $100 each?? that's just crazy. what's next, $500 for the console itself?

OMG u guys!! 🤯 I just pre-ordered those new Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers in light purple & green like 5 mins ago lol! I was so curious about them & now that they're out, I'm DYING to get my hands on one ASAP! 😂 The design is kinda weird tho... I mean who thought it'd be a good idea to have the color only on the inner rails?! 🤔 But I guess it's kinda cool in a weird way? 🎨 And omg Mario Tennis Fever is coming out Feb 12th!! 🎾🏸 Can't wait to try those "fever shots" & ice rackets! 💥 My fave color tho is the light green one, what about u guys?! Should I get both or just one? 🤷‍♀️

omg u guys i'm so stoked about the new switch 2 joy-con colors!!! 🤯 light purple & green? yaaas, they're kinda weird but also kinda cool! like who needs a controller that's all flashy when u can have one that's subtle and sneaky lol. but seriously, these controllers are still gonna be super fun to play with, especially for mario tennis fever. i love how the new colors add a bit of mystery to the design, it's like they're hiding in plain sight 🤫. and from what i saw of the gameplay vid, this game is gonna be SO MUCH FUN! 🎮🏸

I'm low-key thinking Nintendo is trying to tell us something w/ these new color variants... I mean, who designs a controller that's only visibly colored on the rails? It's like they're hiding a message or something! 🤔 And have you noticed how these colors clash with the console's existing design? That's some weird intentional mess right there. Plus, what's up with all the fuss about these controllers being 'standard'? I think they might be more than that... Maybe they've got some secret tech hidden in there? 🚀

I mean, what's up with Nintendo? 🤔 They're dropping these super unique color variants for the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers and I'm just kinda confused. The light purple and green hues are pretty meh on their own, but when you consider how they'll look on the console... it's like they're trying to be quirky or something 😂. And can we talk about the design feature? The colors only show up on the inner rails? It's like they wanted to create a little surprise party for your thumbs 🎉.

But hey, the new Joy-Con controllers do sound pretty standard and exciting for Mario Tennis Fever. I love that Nintendo is giving us more insight into the game with that gameplay video 📹. The fever shots and ice racket sounds like it's gonna be a real nail-biter 💥. Not sure if I'm hyped about these new controllers yet, but I'll def be keeping an eye on them 👀.
