Noah Schnapp on Will’s Game-Changing [SPOILER] in ‘Stranger Things 5’: ‘I Wanted to Tell Everyone I Knew’

For Noah Schnapp, playing Will Byers in Stranger Things has been a journey of self-discovery and growth. In Season 5, Volume 1, Will turns it all around, discovering that his connection to the Upside Down hive mind runs both ways. This realization unlocks a new strength within him, allowing him to stop Demogorgons in mid-air and pull them off the ground. The moment is especially meaningful for Schnapp, given how much his own journey of self-acceptance has mirrored Will's.

Schnapp recalls being on set with only the scripts a week before the table read, but getting to see Episode 4 for the first time in the shower, screaming "Oh my God!" when he realized Will had powers. He then went "completely nocturnal" for over a month to shoot the full action sequence of Vecna's attack on the military base in Hawkins.

Shooting this scene was physically demanding, with Schnapp straining his neck and practicing the sequence extensively to get it right. The face-replacement work also took place separately, with Schnapp sitting still while a camera captured his reactions.

The scene where Will discovers his connection to the Upside Down hive mind is especially powerful for Schnapp, as he's been on a similar journey of self-acceptance and empowerment. He compares Will's experience to his own, noting that if the pandemic and strikes hadn't happened, Season 5 might have filmed earlier, allowing him to tap into more confidence and inner belief.

Schnapp says that playing Will has made him realize how much he would have benefited from having a character like this in media when he was younger. He's proud to have brought Will's journey to life, which is not just about his gayness but also about his strength and resilience.

When talking about the scene where Robin shares her story with Will in the tunnels, Schnapp reveals that he was emotionally affected by it, feeling as if he'd "trapped himself." The moment reminded him of his own struggles finding answers and embracing his identity.

😊 I think its kinda awesome how Noah Schnapp has been able to relate so much with Will's character on Stranger Things, especially when it comes to self-acceptance & empowerment! 🤩 It shows that the show is really tackling some deep themes & its not just about the supernatural stuff. Schnapp's also giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how physically demanding some of these scenes can be, and I gotta respect him for putting himself through all that to bring Will's story to life 💪. And omg that scene in the tunnels where Robin shares her story with Will? 😭 totally gives me chills every time! I love how Schnapp is using his own experiences & emotions to connect with the character, it makes the show even more special 🌟

I'm low-key amazed how much Noah Schnapp has grown from playing Will Byers to now starring in other projects 🤩 He's been through so much on screen and it's inspiring to see how he's used that experience to fuel new growth, especially with the connection to his own self-acceptance struggles 💖. I feel like Season 5 Volume 1 has been a game-changer for him and for the show itself 📺 Can't wait to see what he does next! 👍

man i love how nate schnapp's portrayal of will byers is so real it feels like we're all going through this journey with him 🤯 the connection to the upsidedown hive mind scene gave me CHILLS 😲 i can already imagine a movie about self-acceptance and empowerment that mirrors will's story, that would be EVERYTHING 💖 and i'm dying over how nate says he was feeling "trapped himself" when robin shares her story with will, it's like we're all trying to figure out our own identity and find our strength 🌈💪 let's give nate schnapp a round of applause for bringing will byers to life 🎥👏

omg u guys idk how they even do it 🤯 the way Noah Schnapp brings Will's journey to life is literally so inspiring 🌟 i mean, i can already see why playing this character has been a game changer for him, like he's finally found that sense of self acceptance and empowerment he's been searching for 🌈 especially with how he's been open about his own struggles, it's amazing to see him using his platform to spread love and acceptance 🤗

I'm getting all the feels for Noah here 🤩. I can relate to how far he's come in terms of self-acceptance and growth, especially with playing Will Byers. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a character like that to look up to? Schnapp is totally right about how much it would've been beneficial to have someone like Will growing up, you know? It's not just about the gay representation, but also about showing strength and resilience in the face of adversity 💪. I'm so hyped for Season 5, Volume 1! 👀 Can't wait to see more of Will's journey unfold 🎬

😂👀 I'm so done with the whole 'no one has a connection to an alternate dimension' vibe! Like, come on, show us some real world problems for Will to deal with, you know? And what's up with Robin sharing her story in those tunnels? 🤔 Sounds like some major plot armor if you ask me. Can we get more character development here? 😒

OMG 💥 this is so deep 🤯 I'm literally getting emotional reading about Noah's experience on set... playing Will is more than just an acting gig for Schnapp, it's like he's been living through the story too 🌈 his own journey of self-acceptance is totally relatable and I can see why this season is so powerful 💪 I wish we had characters like Will when I was younger too... it would've saved me so much stress 🙅‍♂️ anyway, Schnapp is just amazing for speaking about the importance of representation and inner strength 💕

I think it's really profound how Noah Schnapp's personal journey has mirrored Will's transformation in Season 5 🤯. It's not just about the powers or the storyline, but how Schnapp's own experiences with self-acceptance have influenced his performance. I mean, can you imagine having a character like this in media when we were younger? It would've been such a game-changer for representation and mental health awareness 🤝. I'm also glad to see Schnapp acknowledging the emotional impact of that scene where Robin shares her story with Will - it's clear he was invested in bringing authenticity to that moment 💔. Overall, I think Schnapp's performance is not just about acting, but about sharing his own voice and experiences through Will's character 🎬.

I'm not buying the whole "it's just a coincidence" thing about Noah Schnapp's journey mirroring Will's. I mean, come on, that's a pretty convenient connection to make. And what about all the other kids who were affected by the Upside Down? Don't they deserve some sort of agency in their own storylines? It feels like the show is just using this "self-discovery" trope to tug at our heartstrings without actually exploring the deeper implications.

aww this is so beautiful ❤️ schnapp's vulnerability is giving me all the feels... it's amazing how much this role has helped him tap into his own self-acceptance & empowerment 🌈💪 playing will has given him a new perspective on life, especially during tough times like the pandemic he's been through a journey of finding himself and embracing who he is 💖

omg I'm so emotional thinking about Noah Schnapp's character growth 🤯💖 He's literally playing a version of himself in this show! the connection to the Upside Down hive mind scene is like, whoa... it's like he's tapping into his own experiences with self-acceptance and empowerment 💪🏼 I can see why that scene would be super meaningful for him 🤕 but also how proud he should be of himself for bringing Will's journey to life 😊

omg i feel u noah schnapp is literally giving me LIFE, i mean who wouldn't wanna be able to stop demogorgons in mid-air lol? 🤩 but seriously, it's beautiful to see someone being so open about their journey of self-acceptance and empowerment, especially with the whole gay representation thing. btw, i'm low-key jealous that he got to go nocturnal for a month to shoot that one scene... priorities, right? 😴🎥

man this is so relatable I feel like I've been in Will's shoes too lol when i first started high school i felt like i didn't fit in and now looking back it was like the universe was trying to tell me something about myself just like Vecna trying to control the Upside Down, we gotta learn to control our own thoughts and emotions 🤯💪 i'm so glad noah got to experience that growth with Will's character too it makes me think maybe if we all had more representation in media when we were younger we might've figured some stuff out sooner 🤔👍

🤔 I mean, I've been screaming at my screen since Season 1 but Noah Schnapp's emotional breakdown in the shower when he realized Will had powers is lowkey relatable? 🤣 Like, who hasn't felt that rush of excitement mixed with existential dread while watching their character discover their superpowers? 💥 But seriously, it's awesome to see Schnapp drawing from his own experiences and bringing authenticity to the role. And let's be real, if I was Will Byers, I'd totally need a mental health day after dealing with Vecna 🙄.

I'm so emotional watching this part of Season 5, 🤯. Noah Schnapp is just SO talented and I love how the show is tackling real issues like mental health and self-acceptance in such a powerful way 💖. It's crazy to think about how much Will's journey resonates with Noah's own experiences, but at the same time, it's beautiful to see him bringing this character to life 🌟. I'm literally crying during that scene where Robin shares her story... 😭 it's just so real and relatable 🤗.

OMG I'm getting major feels from Noah Schnapp's interview 🤩! He's so right about how playing Will has helped him tap into his own inner strength and acceptance. I love how he compares his journey to Will's, it's like they're reading each other's minds 💡. The scene with Robin sharing her story is so powerful, it gave me all the feels 😭. And yeah, let's be real, a character who embodies self-acceptance and empowerment is EVERYTHING 🌈. I'm so grateful for shows like Stranger Things that can tackle these big themes in such an authentic way 💖.

can you believe these actors are so extra 🙄... like Noah's been on set for weeks with just the script and then BAM! He gets to see the finished episode and freaks out in the shower 💥, I mean I get it, it's a big moment but calm down, dude. And what's with all the "I'm so proud" speeches 🙃, like we didn't know Will was gay from the start. Anyway, glad someone's finally tapping into their inner strength and self-acceptance 💪... maybe next time they can use it for something other than being a hot mess on set 😂

omg i'm so hyped for season 5!! 🤩 nathan schnapp is literally killing the game as will byers and his character's growth is giving me LIFE 💖 i was on the edge of my seat when he realized his connection to the upside down hive mind - it's like he's not just becoming stronger but also wiser 🙏 and can we talk about how much i love that he's using his platform to spread positivity and acceptance? 🌈 i've been following him since stranger things first dropped and he's always been an amazing advocate for self-love and empowerment 💪 let's give nathan schnapp a round of applause for being an inspiration not just as an actor but also as a person! 👏

🤯 I'm getting chills thinking about Noah Schnapp's journey playing Will Byers! It's crazy how the show mirrors his own experiences with self-acceptance & empowerment 😊 I can imagine being in that shower, screaming "Oh my God!" when he realized Will had powers 🚿. The fact that he went to shoot that intense scene without rest is truly admirable 💪. As someone who's been on a similar journey (finding acceptance as a young person), it's amazing to see Schnapp pouring his heart into the character 😔. It's not just about being gay, but also about strength & resilience 🌈💕
