NYC taxi driver critically injured in Bronx stabbing, NYPD seeking witnesses

New York City Taxi Driver Seriously Injured in Stabbing Attack

A 39-year-old taxi driver, identified as Osei Kusi of the Bronx, remains critically injured after being stabbed multiple times in a violent attack in Clason Point early Wednesday morning. The assault occurred near Randall Avenue and White Plains Road around 2:30 a.m.

Kusi was found unconscious by NYPD officers who responded to a 911 call from an unknown source. First responders rushed him to Jacobi Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for stab wounds to his back and lower abdomen.

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers identified Kusi as the victim, stating that he is a Bronx native with family ties to Ghana. The organization has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the assailant, calling it an "attempted murder" that poses a danger to every New Yorker.

According to his uncle Samuel Cudjoe, Kusi was inspired to become a taxi driver after working in the restaurant industry in Little Italy. Cudjoe, a 30-year veteran of the taxi industry himself, expressed shock and sadness over Kusi's violent attack, saying "He never argued with nobody" and that he didn't express concerns about safety on the job.

The NYPD is now seeking witnesses to come forward and provide information about the incident. The police are reviewing video footage from Kusi's car in an effort to identify the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

This is a developing story, but preliminary information suggests that felony assaults in the 43rd Precinct area have seen little change this year compared to the same period last year. However, Kusi's case highlights the ongoing concern for public safety on New York City streets.

Ugh ๐Ÿค• can't believe this is happening in NYC ๐Ÿ˜ฉ, I'm so worried about Osei Kusi's family and loved ones, they must be freaking out right now ๐Ÿ˜“. Taxi drivers are always at risk, it's just not safe out there at night ๐ŸŒƒ. We need more cameras on the streets and better lighting, that'd make a huge difference ๐Ÿšจ. And what's with the lack of witnesses, I hope Crime Stoppers can get some info soon ๐Ÿคž. This city needs to come together and support our emergency responders and taxi drivers, they're the ones putting their lives on the line every day ๐Ÿ’•.

ugh, another taxi driver gets stabbed... like, what's up with this city? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ someone's gotta pay attention to these drivers or they're just gonna keep getting hurt. and now they're offering a $5k reward for info, but I'm sure the police will just put it on their list of "unsolved crimes" and move on... meanwhile, poor Osei Kusi is stuck in that hospital bed, wondering why this happened to him ๐Ÿค•

Man ๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is so sad, what kinda world we living in now? ๐ŸŒŽ a taxi driver just get stabbed like that, it's crazy. I feel bad for Osei Kusi and his family, that's some scary stuff. ๐Ÿค• You never know when you can get hurt on the job, but stabbing? that's just insane. ๐Ÿ’‰

I don't think it's safe to say it's all about taxi drivers being targets or anything like that though, I mean he was just driving and minding his own biz. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘ But yeah, it's a reminder we gotta be on the lookout for each other and keep our communities safe.

And btw $5k is not a lot of money to offer for someone who almost got killed, feel bad for that fam too. ๐Ÿ’ธ The police should do more than just review video footage, they need to get out there and talk to witnesses and make sure justice gets served ASAP. โฐ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฑ just heard about the stabbing attack on a taxi driver in Clason Point... it's just so senseless ๐Ÿค•, like what happened to this guy? he was just trying to make a living driving a cab ๐Ÿ’ธ and now he's fighting for his life ๐Ÿ’”. I'm sure we'll get more info as the investigation unfolds, but this whole thing is super unsettling ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. As someone who's familiar with the streets of the Bronx, it's hard not to think about how vulnerable we all are when crime like this can happen anywhere, anytime ๐ŸŒƒ๐Ÿ’ช.

๐Ÿค• man that's so scary ๐Ÿ˜ฑ like what's going on in nyc right now ๐Ÿšจ gotta feel for kusi and his family ๐Ÿ™ hope he makes it through this tough time ๐Ÿ’ช. i mean taxis are already a tough job, dealing with traffic and stuff, but to be stabbed like that? no thanks ๐Ÿคฏ. the police need to step up their game, get more cameras on the streets and make sure people are held accountable for their actions ๐Ÿ”. and yeah, this is another reason why we need to keep working on reducing crime in our city ๐ŸŒ†.

๐Ÿšจ This stabbing attack on Osei Kusi is absolutely senseless ๐Ÿค•. I mean, what was the suspect even thinking? ๐Ÿค” He could've just left someone's life hanging by a thread and walked away... but nope, he had to go and stab the poor guy multiple times ๐Ÿ’‰. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this happened in broad daylight near Randall Avenue and White Plains Road.

As far as I'm concerned, safety should be a top priority on our streets ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Taxi drivers like Osei Kusi are just trying to make a living, but they're put through this kind of trauma every time they get behind the wheel ๐Ÿคฏ. It's not only heartbreaking for him and his family, but it also makes me wonder how many others have been affected by these types of violent attacks on our streets.

The NYPD is doing their thing, reviewing video footage and seeking witnesses... I just hope this guy gets caught ASAP โฑ๏ธ. And to the community, let's all try to stay vigilant and support one another during times like these ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ˜• I gotta say, it's crazy how this guy got stabbed just doing his job. I mean, I get that taxi drivers are a target sometimes, but $5k is a pretty penny to ask from strangers, you feel? What if some random dude sees this and thinks it's the perfect opportunity to scam them out of their cash ๐Ÿค‘. And what about all these cameras everywhere? Can't they just ID the perp already? ๐Ÿ˜’ The city's always talking about how safe it is, but when someone gets stabbed in broad daylight, that doesn't exactly scream "safe" to me ๐Ÿ’”

Ugh I just can't even right now ๐Ÿค• this is so senseless. A good person like Osei Kusi, just minding his own business, and someone comes along and stabs him multiple times? It's just devastating ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, what were the perpetrator's thoughts, was it a random act of violence or did they have a personal vendetta against Kusi? Either way, this is just heartbreaking.

And you know what really gets me? The fact that this attack happened in broad daylight near Randall Avenue and White Plains Road... it could've been anyone, anywhere. I'm not trying to sensationalize the situation but as someone who's always talking about self-care and mindfulness, it's hard to wrap my head around how quickly violence can strike when you're just going about your day ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ.

I hope Kusi pulls through this and that justice is served soon. To anyone with info, please come forward and share what you know ๐Ÿ’ซ the NYPD needs our help.

๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ˜ฑ just heard about that taxi driver getting stabbed in the Bronx and it's so senseless. like, what's going on with these streets? ๐Ÿคฏ 5k reward from the taxi federation is a good start, but we need more than just money to solve this problem. ๐Ÿค‘ we need community involvement, police support, and real action from our leaders to tackle these violent crimes. ๐Ÿ’ช it's time for us to come together and make NYC streets safer for everyone! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

Man, I'm thinking about Osei Kusi right now... ๐Ÿ˜ž He was just trying to make a living driving a cab, and this happens to him? ๐Ÿคฏ It's just so senseless. I know we need more people in these taxi driver roles, but that doesn't mean they should be putting themselves in harm's way like this. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ The fact that the police are reviewing video footage from his car is a good start, but we need to make sure everyone's taking this seriously and coming forward with info. ๐Ÿค I just hope Kusi makes it through this... he's got a whole life ahead of him. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ˜” my heart just sank reading about Osei Kusi's brutal attack ๐Ÿค• I can only imagine how scared and hurt he must be feeling right now ๐Ÿ’” his uncle's words really stood out to me - "He never argued with nobody" it's a reminder that we shouldn't have to live in fear of violence, especially not on our own streets ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ the fact that Kusi is a taxi driver just makes it even more heartbreaking ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’” let's all be looking out for each other and supporting those affected by this senseless crime ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ˜” can't believe what happened to Osei, he must've been so scared and hurt. I was driving a cab like 5 years ago and I know how unpredictable those early morning hours can be ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ it's crazy that the attack happened near Randall Ave & White Plains Rd, like just around the corner from where I used to pick up fares ๐Ÿ˜• anyway, I hope Kusi gets better soon and finds some peace after going through this traumatic experience โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿš‘ Oh no! This is so sickening... a poor taxi driver just trying to make ends meet and get stabbed like that?! ๐Ÿคฏ The NYPD needs to step up their game and catch this guy ASAP. I mean, what's going on with all these violent attacks lately? It's like people have lost all respect for human life. ๐Ÿ’” And $5,000 reward from the taxi drivers union is a good start, but we need more systemic changes to address this issue. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ป Have you guys been noticing any trends or patterns in NYC crime reports? I've been following the latest on augmented reality law enforcement tools and it's like they're finally starting to get serious about keeping our streets safe... ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm soooo sad about Osei Kusi ๐Ÿค•... like, what even is goin' on with these random attacks in the city? I feel bad for him and his fam ๐Ÿ’”. The fact that he was just drivin' to work tryna make a livin' and then gets stabbed multiple times is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I'm all about supportin' our taxi drivers, they're like the unsung heroes of NYC, you know? ๐Ÿ™Œ

I don't think we should be judgin' people based on their occupation or where they come from, ya feel? Osei Kusi was a good dude who just got caught up in some bad stuff and now he's payin' the price ๐Ÿ’”. The NYPD needs to step it up and catch this person ASAP so that others don't get hurt ๐Ÿšจ.

I'm glad the taxi industry is offerin' a reward for info and all, but can we also talk about why these attacks are still happenin'? Is there somethin' we're missin'? I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next ๐Ÿ’”.
